About Island Counseling Center, LLC

You can find the Island Counseling Center, LLC or Advanced Psych Services on North Lake Avenue N in Worcester, Massachusetts. They provide behavioral health services to address comprehensive needs for addiction and mental health care. They focus on both medication assisted treatment and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to treat and address both alcohol and opioid addiction and treatment resistant depression.

Neurostar TMS Program

Their Neurostar TMS program is ideal for those who have not had success with standard treatments for depression. I find it good to know that this form of treatment specializes in targeting specific regions of your brain that may be imbalanced. It stimulates nerve cells responsible for controlling your mood to effectively reactivate the cells and recondition your brain, increasing overall stability and wellness.

Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry Treatment

They also provide adult and geriatric psychiatry treatment that includes an initial evaluation for your conditions. While undergoing treatment for your conditions, they also provide you with ongoing medication management to ensure that you are healing at the pace you’d prefer.

MAT Treatment for Alcohol and Opioid Use Disorder

I like that medication assisted treatment is offered for those diagnosed with opioid or alcohol addiction. They utilize both suboxone and vivitrol to treat severe withdrawal symptoms including cravings and discomfort. They will also carefully monitor your intake and treatment during this process to ensure you are not at risk of relapse.

A Massachusetts psychiatrist was sentenced last week in Boston federal court for illegally prescribing controlled substances. Charging documents stated that 69-year-old Mohamad Och was a licensed psychiatrist who owned and operated Island Counseling Center (ICC) in Worcester. Och has practiced psychiatry in other locations in the state, including Nantucket, during which time he was authorized to prescribe Schedule II-IV controlled substances to patients.

So I'm a tough patient as far as keeping appointments & well leaving my home in general or being on time, ever. I've been coming here for 15 years so I've seen my share of turnovers and drama. My doctor (Dr.Gobiel) has been very understanding and accommodating to my irrational ways so have the staff (when he is there anyways) I have had issues in the past getting threw to a live person but that's definitely gotten better in the past year! There have been a few staff members who look like they hate their jobs but for the most part if they can help they will! If it's an insurance dilemma or prior auth their hands are tied in many cases...that blame goes to insurance 85% of the time! I saw some crappy reviews and felt compelled to state otherwise. They do cater to some of the toughest patients here so I get it. I do wish we could do more virtual appnts. On a case by case basis for folks like me who have trouble getting up and running from our illness's but others that expect the world to help them & do nothing to help themselves? Well that's guess who's fault lol And for any staff that feel the need to be rude to a rude patient? Remember you don't know the hell that person has lived threw or is going threw granted it's ignorant in any case to act rude/disrespectful to anyone for no real reason but some people have never been given the skills to know a better way of dealing or take their misery out on whomever. In my experience these kinds of ppl can be diffused by the slightest bit of compassion. Just saying

I was a patient there for 14 years. I didn’t leave because I was nervous about having another provider prescribe my medicine. My psychiatrist was often mean and very difficult to communicate with. Recently was the last straw when I screwed up one time scheduling an appt and was punished by the staff and Dr and was left 2.5 weeks without my medicine. Totally unprofessional and often treated poorly over 14 years.

Island Counseling Center, LLC works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient programs are designed for clients who are medically stable and not at an elevated risk of relapse, including those who have already completed inpatient care. Outpatient programs typically advance clients' established treatment plans, offering continuing addiction counseling and recovery education. Clients who enter outpatient care immediately following detox may also receive medical and mental health assessments and personalized treatment plans. Most outpatient rehabs provide multiple levels of care to align with clients' unique needs.

Office staffed by apathetic and rude people. They make fun of the clients, and avoid helping whenever possible. Very disturbing place to be in charge of one’s well being.
