| Summit Achievement in Fryeburg, Maine, provides a special program for 13 to 20 year olds who are struggling with substance abuse or experimentation. This licensed and accredited residential treatment center is located in the stunning White Mountains region of Maine. Through the integration of classroom academics, adventure therapy expeditions, and | Treatments Programs Payment Options | My daughter (age 14) was at Summit Sept-Dec this 2024. It is an excellent program and I highly recommend it!
There is a lot of negative press surrounding these types of programs and we were nervous sending our daughter, but I can assure you that this program is amazing and very professionally run.
The kids and adults gain incredible insight into their old patterns and behaviors. Ultimately, the kids learn how to navigate old and new relationships, how to move forward and how to make healthy, appropriate choices.
The therapist my daughter worked with was incredible and very talented. We met with her once a week as well, so we were kept informed about our daughter's progress. The parent coach that we worked with was also excellent and very professional.
This program is unique because it is more of a hybrid program that offers wilderness therapy combined with education, so the children do not fall behind in school.
Summit is a top notch program and it provided the reset we all needed!

Slowly but surely the staff and camaraderie between the residence help show me a a whole new way of life. Helped show me a new way of thinking an a whole new way of looking at the world. The experience I had at the Riverbank House changed my life forever in so many ways. I arrived at RBH in February 2016 and begrudgingly agreed to stay for 28 days, I ended up living there for almost 4 years because I just didn’t want to leave. The bonds and friendships I formed there still continue to this day. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity at a new life, and how to truly enjoy that life, that was provided to me by the Riverbank. My time at RBH was filled with compassion and laughter and memories I will always cherish. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, but going to the Riverbank was certainly not one of them. I am grateful for every single me ever of the Riverbank brotherhood that I got to know during my time there, even that guy with the red beard.

I’ve been here for a week now and it’s great, it’s just like a house, but with trained staff in a central hub 24/7. They’re all really nice, and fairly relaxed. The bedrooms are private, so no worries about a roommate, there’s 2x bathrooms that are shared, but everyone cleans up after themselves so it’s always tidy. There’s an open kitchen that you can use the food they buy, and/or food you bring. You’re allowed to bring and keep your phone as well as a laptop/tablet. They even said I could bring my desktop gaming pc if I wanted to, they say as long as it’s therapeutic and not dangerous, then it’s allowed. There’s an art room, and living room that make up the common space along with the kitchen. They have tv with basic cable and a Roku stick with all the streaming staples like Netflix, prime, and Disney+. Breakfast and lunch you’re on your own for, but they prepare a dinner every night.
Staff will pick up prescriptions and drive you to and from appointments, they offer group outings so you can shop for personal supplies if needed.
I have no idea what the other reviewers are complaining about. 10/10 would recommend to anyone that’s mentally/emotionally exhausted and needs a break from life, to ask your doctor for a referral here.

I came to Skip Murphy’s on August 4, 2014 following several attempts at treatment over the course of nearly four years. Skip Murphy’s gave me a new start, and options that I had not had previously. I think that it was the combination of support, structure, fellowship and the 12 step program, as well as working with a sponsor that allowed me to focus on my sobriety. Also, I have been able to make a lot of caring and supportive friendships. I was able to finally get my life back on track at Skip’s: I now have a good job, and I’m straightening out other aspects of my life that had fallen apart during my active addiction. What can I say? Skip Murphy's has been exactly what I needed when I needed it. Here I was provided with the guidance and tools necessary to begin me upon my journey of recovery. Immediately upon admittance, I had a good vibe about this place. The staff and clients were friendly, courteous, and clearly had something working in their lives that I needed. I was shown around Portland and made to feel right at home. I was finally surrounded by people who genuinely cared about me and had a solution that they were more than eager to share with me. Unlike places I had been previously, the owner, Joe, personally met with me and helped set up a plan of action. He was much more concerned with how to help rather than if my rent was paid yet. Skip Murphy's has helped me and countless others to find the solution to drug addiction and alcoholism as I'm sure it will for countless others for many years to come.

I cannot say enough good about Aware Recovery Care going back to February 2023. My first involvement was with their In-Home Detox team consisting of RN Jenn Aguire and nurses Tabitha and Krystal who came to my home for at least seven straight days to get me detoxed. This was critical to me as at the time I was unwilling to enter in residence detox having had a negative experience in the past. I credit them with saving my life. Their kind and compassionate care showed me that there was indeed some hope for me going forward. Following detox Aware counselors Sam Hayes and Amber Gelinas continued home visits working very closely with me in keeping me on the road to sobriety. I also received monthly assessments by an RN and a session with a Psychiatrist. After six months my insurance lapsed but thankfully I was eligible to enter their Alumni Program consisting of multiple Zoom meetings during the week with Aware professionals. In addition they also host various events in different locations with other Alumni of the program. You always feel that Aware is right there with you every step of the way. I could carry on much longer but let me finish by saying that I consider the Aware professionals I have dealt with to be more than just counselors but as friends as well. I am welcome back in the lives of my children and most importantly my Grandchildren. On November 24 I will be collecting my Nine Month sobriety chip at my AA Home Group. I credit a great deal of my success on Aware Recovery.
