I've had many councilors since been here & always been happy them. There was only one that I tried and didn't work too well with - but it was also the pandemic at the time, and we were doing phone sessions. I was easily referred to another therapist. This is an office where you are expected to do the work to feel better. I have found the therapists, billing, and psych. nurses to be very willing to listen to your needs, and provide a few options, including medication, attaining insurance help, and therapy direction input. I know all this sounds funny from a person who has been in sessions for over a decade, but I have grown more in that time than any other. We found a perfect medication a few years ago, and I'm now learning what to do with my life now that I want to live. It takes time, and effort. It's difficult fighting yourself to better yourself, but it's a good fight, and the therapists here have helped me through it. The only consistent issue is parking! It has gotten slightly better this past year, but the parking lot is far too small for the volume of folks coming in for different reasons (classes, etc.). One star off for that. Sorry guys. I made an appointment with seacoast mental health. I was greeted by a wonderful lady named Betty. I was in a very bad way in a very bad spot in my life. I have had many problems with doctors that just didn't care and was ready to give up I pushed his poor ladies buttons as hard as I could. And I was good at it. And from that point on I will say this lady has saved my life. It has been several years and I owe my life to this one lady at seacoast mental health. I will say in a few short years my whole life has changed. As he perfected the proper medication for me I have become such a better person in life more people like me I deal with everyday problems so much better. And my life has changed 100%. She also got me a case manager. His name is Patrick. And I will say Patrick has the neck to help me deal with the other problems that appear in my everyday home life. He teaches me how to deal with problems with DHS social security problems that arise at work. And keep a proper running household. I will say without these two people I would not be able to make it in normal everyday life I thank them every day I talked to them and I appreciate everything they do for me. She is so realistic, talks to me instead of down, and uses my language, instead of quotes from a book. I can change the office environment at anytime. Couldn't ask for a better group of people all around. I was genuinely accepted and treated with dignity by both residents and staff. 28 days flew by and I was reminded of how \|enjoyable life can still be even if you are sober. They let us smoke cigarettes on the patio outside and the food was outstanding and many times restaurant quality. I'll always have fond memories of this place. I can only hope that those that I met there are winning their battle with addiction or at the very least not giving up. They were all good souls that deserve happiness just as much as anyone else. After years of trying to sort out my license, the people here were beyond helpful and knowledgeable of the process—they explained everything upfront in terms of cost and expectations. Trina was especially helpful, along with the rest of the staff. I felt seen as a human and truly appreciated their welcoming and positive attitude—I felt I really benefited from taking their program overall. This is really refreshing, after running into what feels like so many roadblocks in an already difficult situation to deal with for many. I am more than grateful that I chose SENHS to take my courses, it felt they actually cared and were very helpful and efficient with the steps along the way. We had a Covid outbreak, staff was professional and helped everyone find some place to go and even housed some of the clients until Covid was out of the building. The 5 months that I was there every staff member was professional and cared about both the clients and workers. I cannot say enough good things about them. I went to Granite House back around 2020. My experience was great, I definitely had some ups and downs however the downs were 100% self induced. Although the staff and the group of people I was within were all incredible- I just wasn't ready yet at that time. I went to about half a dozen treatment programs throughout my addiction, but to this day I tell people "if you have medicaid and you're looking to go to rehab in NH - Granite House the best place to go." It is my first choice for referral out of all the treatment centers in the state! Its obviously been a while since I was there, 7 years or so, but I have had clients tell me about their recent experiences and they all say the same thing " Its like a big family. " I couldn't agree more! Thank you Granite House for your continued dedication to those who are in need of a safe, caring and trustworthy treatment center during their most vulnerable days. New Hampshire has lost a lot of good, helpful, and solid places over the past several years but to see you still standing and providing people with treatment is truly deeply appreciated!!! * If you're reading this - and are trying to figure out if this is the right choice... as someone who statistically was not supposed to and never should have made it out... my advice is ; Ask yourself what do you have to loose by trying? We flew my daughter from out of state for treatment as the state we live in doesn’t have the type of mental health care with coocurring substance abuse treatment (even though the facilities state they do). Canterbury so far has been the first facility to finally give my daughter the type of individualized care she needed. My daughter’s Case Worker Jen has been a Godsend. Jen became aware that my daughter was returning to New Hampshire for treatment and quickly took her under her guardian angel wings. Jen makes herself available to provide us as the parents reassurance with her knowledge at any time of the day, which is a blessing since we are not in the area to quickly come check on my daughter. I plan to come back and give an update on my review as treatment continues. So far, I highly recommend Canterbury for your family’s treatment! Halcyon Caskey 2 years ago I cannot say enough good about Aware Recovery Care going back to February 2023. My first involvement was with their In-Home Detox team consisting of RN Jenn Aguire and nurses Tabitha and Krystal who came to my home for at least seven straight days to get me detoxed. This was critical to me as at the time I was unwilling to enter in residence detox having had a negative experience in the past. I credit them with saving my life. Their kind and compassionate care showed me that there was indeed some hope for me going forward. Following detox Aware counselors Sam Hayes and Amber Gelinas continued home visits working very closely with me in keeping me on the road to sobriety. I also received monthly assessments by an RN and a session with a Psychiatrist. After six months my insurance lapsed but thankfully I was eligible to enter their Alumni Program consisting of multiple Zoom meetings during the week with Aware professionals. In addition they also host various events in different locations with other Alumni of the program. You always feel that Aware is right there with you every step of the way. I could carry on much longer but let me finish by saying that I consider the Aware professionals I have dealt with to be more than just counselors but as friends as well. I am welcome back in the lives of my children and most importantly my Grandchildren. On November 24 I will be collecting my Nine Month sobriety chip at my AA Home Group.
