Myself, and 2 of my kids have been coming here since I got custody. Where some had said my kids might need meds, this place opted to try and help. While we have all had to change clinicians, I have to say we have all had nothing but excellent experiences with everyone involved. When there was an issue, they handled it immediately and really worked with us to ensure that we were OK. Yes some of the clinicians are right out of college, but sometimes that is a good thing. For my daughter, that was perfect because she could identify. She was with an older, long term clinician and she didnt really click with her, and she didnt like going, we talked with the therapist and the front desk and everyone understood and helped her switch. I was on the second floor and The heat was difficult but the wonderful employees got me fans and helped me as I withdrew from medications. July 6th it was decided that I needed a pacemaker and I was taken to the Cath lab to be prepped. My heart had other ides and I went into VT and was successfully resuscitated by CPR and shock. Taken to ICU, I once again coded and was brought back. I’m grateful to nurses Joanne, Megan, Ken, Meg, Eryn and the other angels that were instrumental in saving my life. I was told it was Torsades de pointes, something rare. I hope they all know how much I appreciate their care. But I must absolutely shout out to Dr. Pourati and his team who carried me through with humor and compassion. John (who I called bumpers), Brian, who kept me calm throughout, Kevin and his banter, and Heather at my left shoulder reassuring me that all would be well. And of course my cardiologist, Issac Pourati. He is my hero. I’m sure there are others that were involved and to all of you, thank you for your dedication and professionalism. I was always treated with respect and made to feel safe. AJH is extremely fortunate to have all of you as employees. I’m at rehab now and feeling good. I can't recommend NFA enough. Sober since 6/10/25, the program works if you actually WANT to get better. The staff are nice, the food is good, the living situation does require patience but overall it is good. You will be accepted into a community and your case manager will help you out with resources. If you’re in good health and don’t need special accommodations, then this place is what you make of it. The admission process and acceptance to their facility was really quick, so my advice is to prepare as much as possible. Bring your own SEALED OTC medicine and SEALED hygiene and cosmetic products. You’ll meet with a doctor on the 2nd or 3rd day and can ask him to put these medicines in your patient med chart so that the nurses can disperse them to you. Try not to get hurt. You won’t get to go to a hospital unless you’re suicidal or OD’ing. My toe fracture can attest. But with that being said, I’m still grateful for the time I spent here and for the counselors that were once in our shoes and are now recovered, they are great. I was told I’d be lucky to make it back to this place… meaning that I’d be dead and not be able to make it back. I was told I would be dead cause of how “horrible and defiant” I was. I did not like AA was not for me so I was going to die. Many people that worked here told me. My case worker gossiped about me to a whole group of my peers saying “one of you is going down a dark road” really? These are the people to trust? These are the people “getting me better.” Also they said the bill would not need to be paid and I kept getting harassed by AP office I believe in Florida? So I was furious. So my initial review was one star and I left out words because I wrote a nasty review and had to erase them. I wanted to come back and edit my one star review to a five star. Cause here I am, over 5 years later, still going strong as ever in my recovery, and I have a place that is mine, I have a good steady job, and I’m free of the chains of addiction. Whether I like it or not, my experience here is what lead me to where I am today. There was some amazing staff that was overworked and under paid so if by some grace of god they are still there, god bless. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt and say they were trying reverse psychology on me, the staff talking crap about me to other peers, the staff saying I’d be dead. But they were not that smart, they genuinely were telling me I was hopeless. I won’t name you but I know that you know who you are. Now I sit here over 5 years later thinking that maybe if you did not spend so much time talking down and being hateful and judgmental to me, maybe all my brothers in program with me that are dead now, would still be alive if you paid them that energy. But it is what it is right? I don’t equate my success to NEATC, hell no. I put my success on my shoulders. I easily could have taken yall saying I’d be dead soon and actually gone and died. But I didn’t. I spit in all your faces and I proved all of you wrong. I did it for me. I did it for my brothers who died due to the lack of care they received wether insurance was poor or you just focused more on me being defiant than their complacent obedience to your AA. What works for some does not work for all. It’s your hate that drove the fight in me to succeed. I see my brothers in the program with me that never will get to share their smiles with the world, I can share the smile they taught me. I can share their message and I will not let them down. That’s why I have 5 stars. This place did exactly what it needed to. Just like life, drove me insane, judged me, hate on me, gave me a place to live full of rats and mice, financial issues to battle, had to face death, had to hear pain like no other, and was not the smoothest ride. But through the pain and darkness of life there is always light, you can be that light. You can change. Amidst all the bad, there was a handful of AMAZING staff and people that gave me a real life experience I will never ever ever forget. Just like life this place is not perfect, we need to take the challenges and push on. I loved this place. And always will. This place did heal me. Not how I wanted but how I needed. Just like real life. I noticed my growth as I wanted to change my one star review. Even after all the trouble, I pushed through and fought and still see the light. I am still a light that will not be dimmed. And this place is a HUGE part of the reason I am who I am today. An amazing light in a dark dark world. This place put a challenge in front of me, life is not easy, you need to put in the work, and when life punches, you need to punch back harder. When I expressed that, it became an issue, so I chose to leave.. leaving was difficulty the other facility made me walk miles and miles before allowing myself a cell phone and left my stranded in the middle of nowhere. I got the courage after leaving to find another facility and CHOOSE NOT TO GO BACK TO THE LIFESTYLE I ONCE HAD. Finding Mayflower made all the difference. I appreciated that they allowed a more balanced, normal routine outside of meetings—you could relax, watch TV, do crafts, play basketball, and still focus on recovery. They also offered a different approach to sobriety that felt more supportive and personalized. What really stood out was the medical staff—they were always there when I needed them and made me feel comfortable throughout the process. This was my first time getting sober, and I’ve stayed sober ever since because of this place.. great food as well. After accomplishing that, I boarded a plane to Boston 04-19-26 and arrived at Hillside detox and recovery program safely where I was treated like royalty. After 30 days, they convinced me to further my experience, knowledge, and skills for a successful life of soberiety by going to Woburn Wellness. Honestly, it is one of the best decisions I've ever made. At Woburn, I attended the daily groups. At first I didn't understand how the groups could possibly help me go home to a wife that drinks, and remain sober. But the longer I not only attended, but actively participate in the program, the stronger I felt about my soberiety. I was also blessed to stay at the Sober House in Stoneham. The accommodations at these 2 blessings were nothing like the 10 star treatment I got used to at Hillside. But they were perfect for this stage in my journey because they were realistic for life in the real world. [ ] Jasmine was my go to for everything. She treated me like royalty. I'm not going to try and play favoritism with the staff at Woburn Wellness because they all are my favorites. I love and miss each of them. Caroline who always is high on happy pills, and we have a bonded agreement that we shook on, and It's something that I take very serious, and very rarely offer it, is special in her own ways. Noah is a beast, but a gentle giant that best not get anymore bad haircuts. Zhenya is the sweetest lady until you merge into a subject she doesn't approve of. But even her reprimands are done gently yet stern. I could go on praising the staff but I would be remiss if I don't talk about the group. Obviously I can't mention names or discussions we had. But I consider each one of them extremely lucky to be part of Woburn, especially myself. The staff and group members will always hold a very special place in my heart. [ ] Should I relapse, it would be solely for the purpose of going back to Hillside, then Woburn and the sober house, to spend time with my extended family. The clinical director treats clients like family and invests her time and energy into each and every one of us — she spent her Christmas holiday with clients baking cookies, enjoying holiday kareoke, and other festivities that she planned for us… it was a special holiday, filled with so much love and support. The nursing staff are SO cool and kind. The RCs are absolutely the best.. I don’t know how they do such a specialized and demanding job and do it SO well, all while getting to become so close with the clients. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone struggling with an eating disorder. I had lost hope when I entered treatment, and now I look forward to the day when I can say I am fully recovered, because thanks to the LH team, I know that day will come. The counselors that exist are all fair and kind, but constant short staffing and management issues cause a great place to only get a good rating. This is a for-profit clinic, so the higher up the management chain one goes, the further away an addict in recovery is from recovery. Unfortunately this company owns most of the clinics in the area, so one does not have a choice. This is also not unusual. There is no handicapped accessible entrance. You can go in the back way, around the back of the hospital, but you still have to walk a very good distance to the front door, and once inside it's very small so a person with mobility issues is going to struggle. I don't suggest anyone with mobility issues goes to this Clinic. He Corrections Officers in the back of the hospital, they have an entrance for the prisoners there. There is constant clashing with the handicapped clients and the Corrections Officers because there's no real protocol for handicapped patients. But overall this is a good place. Small, and they don't put up with any of the usual nonsense that goes on.( There are very few drug deals if at all that will go on here!). The security guard is top-notch as well and is very fair but firm. If you are not looking for Recovery, I suggest you go somewhere else because you won't last long here. I've had some personal issues with the take-home protocol as well as the short staffing resulting in treatment plans not being effectively instituted, but again this is management and has nothing to do with the day to day staff.
