I was born at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea in 1947, long before it became part of the Mayo Clinic Health System. Because of that, this hospital will always hold a special place in my heart. It is more than just a medical facility to me—it is where my life began. Over the years, the hospital has grown and changed, serving generations of families in the community while continuing its mission of caring for others. When I visit or think about the hospital today, I am filled with fond memories and a deep sense of gratitude. Knowing that this historic institution has been a part of my life from the very beginning makes it a place of both personal significance and sentimental value.Provide your feedback on BizChat

Located on 12 acres in rural Minnesota, Nexus-Gerard Family Healing offers mental health and addiction services for children, adolescents, and families in Austin, Minnesota. They provide inpatient, dual diagnosis, and aftercare services for youth ages 6 to 18, including support for their families to cope with the challenges of mental health issues.
As a former youth here (discharged 01/16/26), this place genuinely changed my life. I have learned how to try and make myself to be a better person because morals & ethics don't come naturally to me. My staff were generally wonderful and actually had a profound impact on my life and my perception of "home." Erica, AJ, Jayden, Claire, Anthony, Kayd, Lashaya, Wendy, Odalys, Clarissa, Mallory, Keisha, Oana, Christie — I am forever thankful for you guys. Thank you for changing my life There are some minor issues regarding corruption, bribery, stuff like that like that between staff / youth on certain dorms, but it never affected me at all I knew "home" could be people, like my best friends or favourite people. I never knew "home" could be a place. When I think of the word "home," I think of Villa, I think of Nexus-Gerard ❤️ NYC 4ever 🫶🏽🪶

My son lived here during his high school years. He was discharged I believed the summer after his jr year but remained in a school over there where he graduated. We honestly had a great experience here. Between the staff and the family therapy sessions ect. My son was very lucky to have a relationship with one of the staff members Joe whom I give a lot of my sons achievements to. Joe helped my son get through some pretty dark times. He encouraged him and alway had an open door policy with him. My son gained so much trust and learned a lot of valuable life lessons. I’m happy to say that my son is now full time Army military police officer. He is on his first deployment. Saying I am an extremely proud of where he is is an understatement. I owe it all to the staff and program they offer. If it wasn’t for this place I honestly don’t know where my son would be at today.

I was court ordered to Nexus Gerard four or so years ago and put into the unit I believe was called "Bordeaux". I do believe this was a good place in some ways and not so good in others. I was not a problematic client as I was only there for truancy and separation anxiety. I believe it is a hard to adapt for the first week or so, and I do feel the way I was calmed down was far from ideal, as it was lights out and I was scared of being away from home, and was put in the corner of the unit with painted tiles. But I do believe at the end of the day it was good for me to do, even if I hated it at first. I remain in contact with another client who was there with me and also made friends while I was there. I wish I could meet them all again and hope they are doing better.

Welcome manor changed the entire direction of my life! They helped me start the process of getting my son diagnosed with autism. I fought everything at first and had nothing but bad things to say about this place, and then I had a breakthrough. I surrendered to the process. The counselor I had cared so much as to listen to me rant about how I was better than everyone else and had checked myself in and didn’t need to be there for 3 hours. Then she asked me well then why am I even here? Because I needed help. The walls came down and my anger resided. My experience there after did a complete 180! I followed the rules, i was engaged in the classes, and I let go of control. I was blessed with a whole new perspective. It was the hardest and yet most rewarding experience I’ve ever been through and I would do it again if I had to! I would highly recommend! I’ve never followed through on anything in my life. Graduating welcome manor after 196 days was the happiest and most successful days of my life! *p.s. this was 3 years ago and I met my still going strong best friend there, and even though she lives 4 hours away we are SO close and visit each other a couple times a year! That’s all thanks to welcome manor!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I am beyond thankful for Wellcome manor and their staff! I don’t think this facility/program is getting the credit it deserves! 😉 I personally and whole heartedly believe that your time here or at any treatment facility for that matter fully depends on YOU and the work and honesty you put into your recovery. No facility or program is perfect. You’re not going to like everyone inside the facility, whether it is a peer or a staff member. We are human, we weren’t made to click with everyone and everything! There will be some rules or restrictions in place that you won’t like, I know I didn’t like all of them but that’s life and if I’m going to be quite honest, we are addicts. We NEED these rules and restrictions because again, we are ADDICTS. 🤦🏽‍♀️ If you don’t surrender and don’t allow yourself to trust the process and don’t actually HEAR what the staff is teaching you, then I would hope that you would agree that you’re the only one to blame for your experience. Even though being inpatient was uncomfortable at first, once I surrendered and trusted the process, I took FULL advantage of the fact that I, in a way got to press the pause button on normal life stressors and struggles. I got to focus strictly on me and only me for the FIRST time in my life WHILE I had my 3 younger babies with me. I had a roof over our heads, food was made for us, routine set in place, staff to help guide us with whatever we needed and etc all pretty much under one roof! Words can’t even begin to describe the gratitude I feel towards Wellcome manor and the staff. They believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. On my hard days, they were patient with me. They were hard on me when I needed it. They helped me hold myself accountable. They spoke life back into me when I was convinced I was permanently dead inside. They helped me become a more patient attentive mother. They helped me and gave me the space to bond with my children on a level so deep, I didn’t know it existed. 🩶 I graduated a year ago in September 2024. I still have a long ways to go, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without Wellcome Manor as a WHOLE but I personally want to give a shout out to my therapist Angie, my Counselor Caitlin, my treatment coordinator Marni, and the parent educator Megan. These four impacted my life in away I will never ever forget and forever will be so thankful for! Also, Shannon needs her own shout out! With her creativity, amazing parent aides, and her silly personality she helped make core memories for myself and my kiddos to remember for a lifetime with the events she planned!

Beauterre - beautiful ground. Drugs and alcohol are but at the surface and the symptom of my true issues. This gift of a place allows us to receive, if we choose, love, kindness and acceptance on a pathway to better understand and heal our mental health. I have been to nine treatments, wrestled with suicidal ideation and in my heart nothing else can touch the miracle that has happened in my life here. From the top to the lovely cleaning and maintenance staff (amazing recovery staff) leadership and love prevails. My journey just started and I know when I stumble or hit a road block, they are just a phone call away, an email, a visit. Forever grateful. Love and peace, K. ❤️

In 2022, I was placed on an involuntary 72 hour hold by another hospital. It was extremely unwarranted and I was threatened with physical violence and had my human rights violated. That hospital sent me to the inpatient facility at Owatonna. Based on the experience at Buffalo, I was extremely standoffish. I was hysterical. I told them I would not speak with them, I would not let them touch me, I wanted to call my family because buffalo would not let me contact my family and they actually trespassed my entire family from their hospital for literally no reason after my family convinced me to just stay and do what they asked. The nurse was taken aback and asked what happened and I explained and she basically said “oh my god, I’m so sorry. We won’t do that here. We’re going to help you.” And something in her voice made me believe her. I think it took a day and a half maybe to talk to the psychiatrist, but he’s the reason I’m writing this review. He released me before the 72 hour hold was up and said he didn’t believe I needed to be there. He joked with me. I even made jokes that other psychs might’ve held me longer for making and when I ended with a “whoops, shouldn’t have let that one slip” he laughed with me and said no, it shows me you have a healthy coping mechanism. He really just talked to me like a human being and that’s not something I’ve dealt with in my 15 years of experience being treated for mental health conditions. He also went out of his way to call my primary care doctor and tell her he thought she was doing a great job with the medication aspect of my treatment, and when I saw her again she was really surprised he did that and said it was really nice. I don’t remember his name, but I wanted to write this review just to give him a little recognition because he deserves it. I’ve met with probably 10-12 psychiatrists in my life and he was by far the kindest, smartest, most human psychiatrist I’ve met.
