My husband had to have several blood transfusions. Nurse Mary was the best. She went out of her way to always have what was needed there and ready for us. She also made sure we were comfortable while we were there. I will never be able to thank her enough for how great she was to my husband and me during his last days. We need more people like her in our world today.

Last June I was in the Mayo hospital for two nights and three days with pneumonia. The first afternoon and night were wonderful. The day and night nurses really took good care of me. In fact the next two day nurses I had were both very helpful and attentive. The nurse in charge my second night there should not be a nurse at all. She should be a guard in a prison. I sat four hours waiting for her to answer my call to the nurses station. I could not breathe. I was almost in panic mode. I sat there listening to the night shift laughing and talking and having a huge four hour break just down the hall while I was up sitting on the edge of my bed thinking I was going to pass out. When she came in she told me I was fine and she had nothing to give me for anything. I was to lay down and go to sleep. I couldn't lay down, I really couldn't breathe if I laid down. Finally at five am a different nurse came in with a nebulizer which allowed me to breathe enough to get a couple hours of sleep. By noon of that day I was up and dressed. I found out that I would have that same overnight nurse if I stayed. I wouldn't have spent another night under her care if she was the last nurse on earth! They wanted me to stay another two to three days. I would have gladly done that if I had the nurse who cared for me the first night. Overall I had excellent care from everyone but the one charge nurse the second night. I can't understand why someone who obviously does not like people would ever become a nurse.

In 2022, I was placed on an involuntary 72 hour hold by another hospital. It was extremely unwarranted and I was threatened with physical violence and had my human rights violated. That hospital sent me to the inpatient facility at Owatonna. Based on the experience at Buffalo, I was extremely standoffish. I was hysterical. I told them I would not speak with them, I would not let them touch me, I wanted to call my family because buffalo would not let me contact my family and they actually trespassed my entire family from their hospital for literally no reason after my family convinced me to just stay and do what they asked. The nurse was taken aback and asked what happened and I explained and she basically said “oh my god, I’m so sorry. We won’t do that here. We’re going to help you.” And something in her voice made me believe her. I think it took a day and a half maybe to talk to the psychiatrist, but he’s the reason I’m writing this review. He released me before the 72 hour hold was up and said he didn’t believe I needed to be there. He joked with me. I even made jokes that other psychs might’ve held me longer for making and when I ended with a “whoops, shouldn’t have let that one slip” he laughed with me and said no, it shows me you have a healthy coping mechanism. He really just talked to me like a human being and that’s not something I’ve dealt with in my 15 years of experience being treated for mental health conditions. He also went out of his way to call my primary care doctor and tell her he thought she was doing a great job with the medication aspect of my treatment, and when I saw her again she was really surprised he did that and said it was really nice. I don’t remember his name, but I wanted to write this review just to give him a little recognition because he deserves it. I’ve met with probably 10-12 psychiatrists in my life and he was by far the kindest, smartest, most human psychiatrist I’ve met.

I've gone to inpatient in Shakopee and outpatient with lodging in Chaska. Both locations the staff is great. Counselors, techs, peer recovery specialists, medical staff, even kitchen staff. All of them truly care about our recovery, and will do everything they can for you. Northstar also has sober housing if you need it after treatment.

It's a tight and small clinic, but the care I've received has always been better than most facilities. The facility is clean, but could use a check-in kiosk like the ones many other facilities have. I say that only because the poor lady behind the counter was still engaged in warfare with her bowels and it muddied up things for a few minutes.
Still; no complaints. The doctors listen, are experts in their field, and the staff wants to interact with you.

I’ve been going to the Shakopee VA for over three years, and it has consistently been the best medical care I’ve received anywhere. From the moment you walk in, the front desk staff are kind, helpful, and quick to respond. They make you feel welcome and supported right away.
The psychologists and physical therapists here are also excellent. They do their best to schedule appointments quickly, they listen, and they work with you to address your needs in a real and meaningful way.
Most of all, I want to recognize Dr. Reddy. She provides care at a personal level that’s hard to find. She makes sure medications, scans, and bloodwork are handled promptly, and she responds to messages and appointment requests almost immediately. It’s clear how much she cares about her patients and how hard she works every day.
Overall, I’m very grateful for the staff and providers at the Shakopee VA. Their professionalism, kindness, and commitment truly make a difference

North Star Shakopee MRTC has been a great treatment center. The director really cares about your care & safety. Great staff of counselors & the therapist is excellent too. The rooms are good, beds are comfy & the bathroom is inside your bedroom, not communal. Evening peer-lead support meetings are required and very helpful. Front desk, nursing, & cooking staff are all very nice. The food is pretty good too. The building is clean, looks like a hotel from the outside. Northstar has very much helped me.

I wish I got this nurses name but whoever did my blood draw today was the best I've ever experienced. I have never had a blood draw where I didn't feel the needle but I swear I barely noticed it and she took like 4 samples of my blood in what must have been 5 minutes? maybe less? 10/10 to whoever that was.

Just go to Rochester if your really sick or got serious health issues... there will just send you to Rochester anyway if you go to Austin... Austin hospital is basically training ground for noobs Er department my opinion. Don't get me wrong but the people who work at the Austin mayo clinic are really nice and respectful people there just trying to help you or in my case save my life .

I graduated from The Shakopee Haven in December 2022. This place changed my life for the better. I owe a lot to my Counselor Chris for not giving up on me. He gave me so many tools to use in life after treatment to continue to stay clean. He always told me I had the ability to restore and rebuild with my children if I stay clean. I’ve been going to Burnsville Internal Medicine for over 20 years and can only say good things ! The only negative is getting realistic appointments rather than having to wait months! Re: diabetes regular recall is 5 months out with Sarah Young. But that being said, I can ask my primary doc for help. Kim Weber is her name and she’s great.
This clinic needs more staff for diabetes patients.
