They even let my mom in the recovery room so I wake up I my Mom is there to make me feel safe. I would go to Huntington hospital for anything including physatric mental health problems because everyone is so accommodating and making a special needs adult relaxed and feeling warm welcoming to Huntington hospital. Considering the circumstances 😂 I remember one girl constantly dialing 9-11 from the phone's. I don't remember if the calls went through but she bragged in the room at night.. The food was actually really good we never went to bed hungry they had activities or you can sit in your rooms. They locked the bathrooms during the day. Because a few of the girls would flush stuff down like apples and pencils 😆 🍎 ✏️. We had a menu where we would choose what we wanted for our meals. The ward was clean and the staff was really cool. I remember I got discharged in February it was cold and fit the atmosphere of my current situation. I'm now married and have a daughter. This was a different time in my life. I believe that mental health facilities and people held under locked restrictions should still deserve human dignity Michelle Franco Taveras 1 month ago When a friend recommended Zucker Hillside, I immediately googled it and at the time the score was 2.9, which I was a little apprehensive about it but I trust my friend and as such went forward with visiting the Rapid Access Center (RAC). Having been in the mental health field for 10+ years, I have high standards while also recognizing the practical realities of the limitations of the healthcare system. I cannot speak highly enough about Zucker Hillside's RAC. The security guard who directed us to the RAC, allowed us to park in the Internal Medicine on call spot given the urgency, the security guard who personally escorted us to the RAC, the front desk staff who were very informative, the LCSW who was incredibly patient and kind, and the psychiatrist who was also fantastic. I've seen mental health professionals try to cut off patients when they may be going on a tangent for the sake of 'redirection' but both the LCSW and psychiatrist were very understanding and tactful in their approach. I recall the psychiatrist saying "we took the scenic route but we got there" with a gentle smile. While it was a busy waiting room and we didn't have a prebooked appointment, we were seen in a reasonable time frame. We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at the hospital, but above all else, we want to recognize Nicole Solimeno, our nurse, who was truly the kindest, most compassionate, and most amazing nurse we have ever had the privilege of meeting. From the moment my wife arrived in the PACU, Nicole went above and beyond in every possible way. She stayed with my wife throughout her entire time in the PACU, providing constant care, reassurance, compassion, and genuine kindness. She never made us feel like we were just another patient or another family passing through the hospital. She made us feel cared for, heard, and safe during an incredibly difficult and emotional experience. What stood out most was how genuinely invested Nicole was in my wife's comfort and well-being. She was attentive to everything, answered our questions, explained things whenever we were unsure, and was there for us through every moment. Her presence alone brought an incredible sense of comfort during a situation that was otherwise extremely stressful. As a husband watching his wife go through such a difficult experience, I cannot adequately express how much Nicole's care meant to me personally. Seeing how compassionate and attentive she was toward my wife gave me an enormous sense of reassurance. She didn't simply do her job — she genuinely cared. There are certain healthcare professionals you remember for the rest of your life, and Nicole is absolutely one of those people. We will remember her kindness, warmth, patience, and compassion for years to come. She made a profoundly difficult experience a little easier simply by being there. The rest of the hospital staff was also wonderful. Everyone we encountered was professional, caring, and attentive, and we are extremely grateful for the care my wife received throughout her stay. But Nicole deserves special recognition. She is an extraordinary nurse and an even more extraordinary person. Healthcare needs more people like her. Her kindness, compassion, professionalism, and genuine concern for her patient made a lasting impression on both of us. Nicole, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you did for my wife and for me.
