The experience of clients is wholly dependent on the counselors. I had a good one. Clerical, billing and administrative all seem to genuinely be helpful. Most of your experience will be with the counselors, so yeah it'll really depend. They may be able to help you realize triggers and non-consequential thinking. They can help to connect you with the treatment level appropriate, if any. They aren't selling a model of treatment or cajoling clients to be better. They expect if you're there, you're ready to be honest and open to the opinion of a professional. What you do with that information is yours. If you ask, they'll tell you how they can best help. When seeing reviews for this place, please keep in mind the mindset of most people going to a county service and taking time to leave a review. Most people feel entitled to have access to these services instead of the privilege it is, so will often come at it from that viewpoint. I understand the county is not required to provide any services, but am grateful that they do.

It's been a few years since I've been a member of RSS on River St. in Oneonta but I wanted to give a review. This organization helped me when I had no family or friends or anyone in this world. God lead me to RSS and they helped change my life. Sherry Stallone and her staff were kind., respectful and understanding when I was incapable and afraid and misunderstood. My agoraphobia would have taken over my life had it not been for the help given and received from RSS and the Mental health office they sent me to in Oneonta. RSS works with the community and the individual to enable people like me with mental health issues to become a working and contributing member of society. RSS was the VERY first step for me that opened all the other doors I could not open myself. They supported me all the way until I was able to be launched on my own. I love them all and highly recommend RSS and all the workers there. Joanie G.

In that time he went not only through recovery but mental health help as well. He is home and thriving. Throughout his time there he participated in individual and group therapies. His favorite part in his own words “Kim’s food is amazing”. When he came home we sought out his psychiatrist to get him back on track. They couldn’t get us in for a month and were not willing to refill his medications. I spoke with Mackenzie and her and nursing staff were able to make sure he got refills so he was not left without vital medications. I would recommend Never Alone to anyone who just doesn’t know what else to do with a child who is struggling.

My 16 year old daughter was at Never Alone for over a month and did great! The entire staff from program director to chef were wonderful and made my daughter's stay as comfortable as it could be, based on the circumstances. This was not our first stop on her journey, however this was her first rehab for drug/substance use. When asked if it was beneficial, she has not hesitated to say YES. She said that she felt she left with better tools and confidence to work her recovery.

Going to leave an honest review. There is a ton of work & cleaning daily, it can be a bit much. Punishments for breaking rules are cleaning even more & doing chores for staff. I had pretty long stretches of sobriety during my time there. It is very intense and can appear cultish especially at first. It is more intense than 28 day programs, much Stricter than Phoenix house. No cell phones until you transfer to Brooklyn. No going out on your own for over a year. Severe addicts may need this but can be overbearing. I watched this place work for some, not work for others. Rod C. was a great counselor. Food was good. The upstate director is a bit intense and authoritarian, but treats the parents well. I’d say this place is the last stop when all else has failed.

An oasis of human being-focused possibility in the desert of quick turn-around, short-stay corporate rehabs that statistically serve as a bandaid with little long-term success. Our son was at the end of his rope, hopeless and helpless to stop the cycle of self abuse. A day program he attended provided little and treated him along with clients twice and three times his age. He could neither hear nor meet my/our suggestions, support nor demands. After speaking with someone at Dynamite, I was sure that we’d found something unique. Our son spoke (without commitment) to a young member there, then to a counselor and together we were able to persuade him to consider it, which he did cautiously. Getting him there was not easy but once we did he was immersed in a culture of healing, accountability, and self reflection. Young people living and growing together. The changes are mind blowing and have altered the trajectory of his life and ours. We remain committed to his potential and have grown as a family. Can’t say enough about this unique program.
