The experience of clients is wholly dependent on the counselors. I had a good one. Clerical, billing and administrative all seem to genuinely be helpful. Most of your experience will be with the counselors, so yeah it'll really depend. They may be able to help you realize triggers and non-consequential thinking. They can help to connect you with the treatment level appropriate, if any. They aren't selling a model of treatment or cajoling clients to be better. They expect if you're there, you're ready to be honest and open to the opinion of a professional. What you do with that information is yours. If you ask, they'll tell you how they can best help. When seeing reviews for this place, please keep in mind the mindset of most people going to a county service and taking time to leave a review. Most people feel entitled to have access to these services instead of the privilege it is, so will often come at it from that viewpoint. I understand the county is not required to provide any services, but am grateful that they do.

It's been a few years since I've been a member of RSS on River St. in Oneonta but I wanted to give a review. This organization helped me when I had no family or friends or anyone in this world. God lead me to RSS and they helped change my life. Sherry Stallone and her staff were kind., respectful and understanding when I was incapable and afraid and misunderstood. My agoraphobia would have taken over my life had it not been for the help given and received from RSS and the Mental health office they sent me to in Oneonta. RSS works with the community and the individual to enable people like me with mental health issues to become a working and contributing member of society. RSS was the VERY first step for me that opened all the other doors I could not open myself. They supported me all the way until I was able to be launched on my own. I love them all and highly recommend RSS and all the workers there. Joanie G.

A younger family member of mine has gone through here and my experience with this inpatient rehab for youths has been incredibly positive. The leadership team is compassionate, professional, and truly committed to helping the kids succeed. The clinical team is knowledgeable, supportive, and treats each client with dignity and care. The direct care staff go above and beyond every day — they are patient, attentive, and genuinely invested in the well-being and recovery of the youths they work with. You can tell there is a strong sense of teamwork throughout the program, and the environment feels safe, structured, and caring. I’m very grateful for the support and dedication this team provides to both the clients and their families.

The Dynamite Youth Center (DYC) location in Fallsburg, New York is a residential facility for adolescents and young adults and their families. This program saved my brother's life. From the counselors, to the skills-building, and family recovery resources in between, this program is saving lives and families. My brother has been in and out of 30-day rehabs for 5+ years since he was 17. He's now 21, and the happiest he's ever been. What makes this program different is that they are young adult focused and NOT FOR PROFIT. They work with insurance and state funding, so they don't turn people away because of an inability to pay. My brother has been able to complete his high school diploma, and has now been in the program for 8 months. He's building his recovery and professional skills, learning about different trades, involved in so many activities in the program, and is becoming a peer leader. The counselors and staff involve families in the recovery process because they recognize its a family disease. They also work with members who are on MAT and taper them at a level that works for them. DYC considers every angle of their life—structure, community, skill building, independence and compassion. The Fallsburg location is exclusively a long-term residential program with weekend visits by families permitted. The Brooklyn location provides both residential and out-patient programs. My brother has even said "I can't believe I didn't come here sooner." Coming from a 21-year old, that should tell you a lot! Even the DYC alumni (past members) are so inspirational to hear from and continue to remain active. Would 100% recommend DYC to anyone who has a young adult in their life struggling with addiction and is looking for a compassionate alternative to 30-day rehabs.

My cousin, who is more like a brother to me, has been to DYC more than once. While he is no longer there today, that is not because of any shortcoming on DYC’s part. This place is truly a diamond in the rough. DYC is one of the very few long-term treatment facilities available for youth, a rarity that in itself makes it invaluable. But beyond that, what makes DYC extraordinary is the people: kind, compassionate, dedicated individuals who consistently go above and beyond not only for its members but also for the families who walk alongside them in this difficult journey. From the Fallsburg residence to the Brooklyn program and beyond, DYC offers so much more than treatment. It provides dignity, holistic care, and the life skills, introspection, and tools needed to break free from addiction’s grip. It is a place that treats people as whole human beings, worthy of love, healing, and hope. Although my cousin is no longer a member due to his own circumstances and decisions, DYC has never left me behind. For over a year, I have been attending the family groups virtually every Wednesday, and in that time I have been heard, understood, guided, and supported. These groups have profoundly shifted my beliefs, my approach, and my ability to support not only my cousin but also myself as I navigate the long and painful road that addiction weaves into families. I especially want to recognize Jen and Scott, who lead our Wednesday meetings with such care, wisdom, and compassion. Their ability to hold space for every single person in the group - through laughter, tears, and honest conversation - has been life-changing. They embody the heart of what makes DYC so special. I have cried with this community, laughed with them, and learned from them. I have been humbled by the strength of other families and, in turn, found strength of my own. The gratitude I feel for DYC, the staff, the families, and the space they create together, cannot truly be captured by words. But I can say this: DYC has given me hope, perspective, and a community when I needed it most. For that, I am forever thankful.

Dear Harris Hospital Administration, I am writing to share my wonderful experience during my visit to your hospital morning Valentines Day around 9:45 AM. From the moment I arrived and saw the helicopter landing, I was met with exceptional service. The security officer at the gate greeted me with a very nice smile and kindly showed me where the check-in area was located. Upon entering, a wonderful lady went out of her way to help me charge my phone and then assisted me with registration. Remarkably, she remembered me from 2025 when I was under the care of Dr. Rachel and Dr Raphael Stimphil for the birth of my daughter . We had a lovely conversation about her background as a nurse assistant and EMT, and I was so moved by her dedication and talent. Furthermore, during my appointment, I was seen by Ms. Erica, who also performed my ultrasound back in 2024. She remains incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and kind. As I was leaving, I noticed the wall of sponsors of Harris Hospital and felt a deep sense of gratitude for this well-organized and medically oriented facility. Even the security guard at the exit made my departure pleasant by saying goodbye as i complemented the music which was playing in the background " be my baby " I feel so privileged to be surrounded by such smart and kind people who devote their lives to helping others. Thank you for all that you do. God Bless Harris Hospital

I have been going here for over a year now and it's a hit and miss situation the first therapist I had here was terrible and I could tell she didn't actually care about me. The first nurse practitioner I had here wasn't that good either. After that I would like to say that the second therapist I got was awesome he really helped me through some stuff, because of my work with him I have become a much less angry individual, I am sad to see him go, but people move all the time. I believe that the next therapist I have here will probably be good too. I would also like to say to people thinking about going here, take a chance, you may end up with someone you really like, and if you don't find someone else it is not much of a problem to switch therapists.

I am a previous alumni of the Avenues in Concord New Hampshire where I experienced long-term sobriety, multiple years after attendance. I am also a veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia; as well as I was a drug and alcohol counselor for veterans because Avenues gave me the tools needed for living a life of recovery, and instilled the importance of giving back. After my last treatment, I took suggestions and was also a house manager in sober living and worked a 12 step program, sponsoring other men through the process. This past year, I experienced a relapse because I stopped working a program and took back my will. After several attempts of recovering on my own, I surrendered and called my best friend and patrol leader from my deployment, and I asked for help. He reached out to Avenues, and I was given a call late into the night by an admission coordinator. When I spoke to this man I was broken and afraid. He showed me empathy, asked the right questions, and told me he would do whatever he could to get me into treatment. I was picked up by a team member from Avenues, Lake Ariel within 24 hours. The man who picked me up stopped so I could pick up needed items, and he checked on me throughout the whole ride. Once at the facility, I was opened with open arms and felt humiliated, while they saw it as practicing humility and doing the next right thing. They were full of empathy and compassion, and I was immediately started on a detox protocol where the nurses and practitioner were knowledgeable with medication and met me where I was thinking; nothing was pushed or forced. The majority of staff has a working knowledge of a twelve step program and are in recovery. No one was there just for a paycheck. My counselor and every staff member was attentive to my needs and were also able to help every client smile and feel human during such a difficult time. This facility also had veterans on staff who were willing to share directly with me in my process. They helped to save my life by sharing their experience, strength, and hope. They do give out Big Books and help orient clients with the program through nightly commitments and their own personal experience, strength, and hope. I am grateful for my experience and the Avenues Program. I have been to multiple facilities, and in my opinion Avenues is second to none. I trust their program more than that of any Veterans Administration I have ever attended. I am excited to be transferring to the Avenues in Maryland to finish my process. This place will always have a special place in my heart, and I am internally grateful. Patrick Shiflett USAF Security Forces, retired veteran
