I saw some of the negative comments and I totally disagree. The counselors are awesome. They are not judgemental. They call clients on their BS!! Of course there are clients who are mandated. That's every rehab. But there are also people who are there because they need help and want to be there. I loved the counselors because they were very in tune to the disease of addiction. Someone mentioned the "older white male" counselor. He was one of my favorites. They are very compassionate. They also run their groups efficiently. I've been to some outpatient programs where the counselors can't control the groups and by the time the group is over...I forgot what the actual group topic was. ( I have medicaid. Which makes me less fortunate then others who pay for there insurance) so after about a year and a half. Outside of that the groups are excellent the facilitators truely care, and the people who are the ones that really make the groups they are great. I thibk due to the telahealth aspect people are more willing to dig into there traumas and passed. I can only hope they 1 day accept medicaid again not only for me but all the other addicts and alcoholics who cant afford insurance to 1 day be able to receive treatment in the same manor I did. Having had experience with different treatment programs over the years, NJRC genuinely stands out. What impressed me most is how individualized the care is. Clients are treated based on their own circumstances and needs, and not like just another statistic going through a program. The therapists, psychiatric staff, facilitators, case managers, techs, and operations staff are all professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping people succeed. You can tell there's a real effort across the board to understand each person's situation and give them the support they actually need. The various programs themselves are thoughtfully designed as well. You're exposed to practical tools, knowledge, and resources that help you better understand yourself, address the issues behind substance use, and ultimately make lasting changes. I have had both good and bad experiences, often with facilities promising services that never happened or leaving me in the dark about my own recovery plan. In January 2026, I was at my absolute worst and once again in the throes of addiction. As we know, addiction is progressive, and mine had progressed to a place that truly scared me. I had previously been in contact with a staff member from NJRC, and in what felt like my only moment of clarity, I told my husband, “Call NJRC.” From that day forward, they guided me every step of the way. NJRC helped guide me through detox and residential treatment and strongly encouraged me to continue into PHP. I was hesitant, but thankfully I trusted their recommendation. When I arrived, I immediately felt something different. NJRC treated me like a person—not a diagnosis or another client walking through the door. They took the time to know me, understand me, and make me feel like my recovery truly mattered. What makes NJRC so special is that they do what they say they are going to do. They provide weekly individual therapy—and it actually happens. Their peer-centered groups teach coping skills, encourage honest conversations, and provide tools that can actually be used outside of treatment. The staff genuinely care. They listen, they support you, they hold you accountable when you need it, and they celebrate your progress with you. I never felt like I was going through recovery alone. During my time with NJRC, I have formed meaningful friendships, strengthened my relationships with my family, regained my confidence, learned to set boundaries, and discovered my beliefs, values, and purpose. For so many years, I hid behind a mask. NJRC helped me realize that I don't have to anymore. They gave me a safe place to finally figure out who I am. Difficult things still happen, but today I handle them differently. I don't look for a drink anymore. I look for a tool. I feel today. I communicate today. I live life today. Today, I am 228 days sober, and there are not enough words to express my gratitude to NJRC. Every person there has played a part in helping me become the person I am today. Their care and attention towards me was constant, deep, and real. They really provide the peace and atmosphere that allowed the Doctors and I to do incredible amounts of work and healing. The Doctors too were incredible, talented, and providing a very high standard of care. Food was amazing (yes it's hospital food, adjust your expectations a bit). I had steak, burritos, pho, Thai, lasagna, pasta, bbq, burgers, and more. Across 6 weeks I think they only repeated a dish 4-6 times. And there's a salad bar and panetta/sandwich bar every meal. Many kids ate grilled cheese every meal instead of grown-up food and vegetables, so I would take their complaints with a pinch of salt, hah. Reading the other reviews is amusing. Bear in mind the complaints are coming from sick people, and it is frustrating to not find a silver bullet for very real and severe illnesses. Some people enter thinking this is a spa vacation. It is not. Your healing will require you to do work on yourself as well. The more you invest in the process the more long term success you will realize (I am not a Doctor, but my peers who invested in recovery had similar progress to myself) Mason J 3 weeks ago Silver Hill took me in when I was at the lowest point in my life. I went to several different programs during my stay and was treated with respect and care the whole time. There were the usual tiny wrinkles that comes with being in a hospital system but overall it was a wonderful hospital that has a lot of different specialties. My experience couldn't have gone more smoothly. I especially loved that they respected my decisions and strongly supported skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding. The private rooms, birthing balls during labor, and the option of having your own tub made the experience even more comfortable. They also have a wonderful menu where you can choose your own breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everyone from the friar in charge of the inn to security and maintenance made me feel welcome. The counselors are the best I’ve ever dealt with. My counselor was amazing, the physco therapist helped me realize things on my own and a former resident who is now staff related to my issues making me comfortable with the process. That guy was a godsend. These people helped me with my addiction issues more in 6 months then I’ve been able to do over the last 30 years.
