Calling treatment centers to explore options for a loved one was really overwhelming for me, but my family knew a must-have of any treatment program our loved one admitted into was a strong family education and support component. The Ridge made the information-gathering process so smooth and so reassuring. The staff answered every question we had, every question our loved one had, and they set us all up with support all the way around, right from the start. From drop-off and intake all the way through to discharge, The Ridge’s team was incredible. Their patience and guidance to / for my family throughout the entire process was truly invaluable. We feel a new level of confidence in our communication with and support of our loved one, as well as an entirely new understanding of the disease of addiction, that we know will set us up for success moving forward.
I don’t have words for the amount of gratitude my family and I have for The Ridge. Our loved one’s treatment process and newfound sobriety – along with their commitment and dedication to staying sober – would be enough in and of itself, but the rest of us had a life-changing experience as well. We learned so much, have knowledge and education around addiction that we didn’t have before, and have found an amazing community of people we’re so lucky to have found. No one ever said that it would be a picnic, or luxurious. The staff helps you to be as comfortable as you possibly can, while going through such a change. I came here all the way from New York, as I’m originally from Youngstown and needed to get away from my surroundings for a bit and have a hard reset.
Left treatment today and had a really nice experience here. The staff is super friendly and nice and have a lot of experience with addiction and treatment. As well, the counselors were all great and the groups were helpful.
Don’t come here if you expect to go on vacation or are simply in need of housing and are looking for a day spa that has a medical cabinet. Groups and H & I are a collective seven hours a day (morning, break, afternoon, break, evening) and attendance is expected.
All things said, made some friends, got about as sober as anyone could get in a month, and learned that I’m still apparently really very terrible at basketball. Would recommend.

The Staff at First Step Recovery are phenomenal. I’ve been in First Steps programs since Oct. Of 2024, and at each level of care I’ve had the best treatment from staff. I was in patient from detox to phase 1, and from there to IOP and beyond. And at each level I’ve come to care for the staff more and more, because they cared. And I’m stronger in my recovery more and more every day because of them.

They have been amazing after I moved in they helped me find a new job, when I found out that it would be remote they set me up for success in the house. Their structure has help keep me sober.

Chris in the crisis support unit really went the extra mile to help me. She was on the phone, then came out and met me when I finally made the choice to come in, and gave me some comfort. She was very honest which I really found important, and I’m really glad that I came in. She celebrated the little victories while I had there, and was the one to see me out when I left. Everyone seemed really enjoyable in the CSU and support staff seemed lovely as well. I believe Sarah was the other person I met there, and I really enjoyed how she spoke on my level and it was very calm, and casual, and I liked how the professional getup was gone, it felt very personable and to me that was extremely valuable. The other places I’ve gone to have been alright, but I’m one of those people who value real person-to-person connection, and my short visit to the crisis unit really helped me out a lot.

Proven Treatments to Help. If you say it doesn’t help in any way, you’re lying and that’s between you and God! They serve all required meals plus more at times. Nice rooms. My experience is the patients treat the workers terribly sometimes. I don’t like that at all. Patient acts like they the president or the universe. Patients think workers should serve them like KIngs and queens. Most pay no money for services. Probably tax payers money, yikes. Stay Humble. God Bless.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Alcohol is the substance most commonly associated with addiction in America. Alcoholism or Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) refers to the excessive use of alcohol despite it causing significant harm or distress. Individuals suffering from alcohol addiction often require detoxification before starting a comprehensive treatment program due to potentially life threatening withdrawal symptoms commonly referred to as Delirium Tremens or DTs. Individuals are closely monitored by medical professionals and given supportive medication to ease symptoms and stabilize bodily functions, preparing them for further treatment. Once stabilized, treatment may include the use of FDA approved medications such as naltrexone, disulfiram, or acamprosate to reduce cravings, block the effects of alcohol and help to maintain abstinence. Continued treatment should include an inpatient or outpatient program that involves one on one and group counseling. Counselors utilize a mix of behavioral therapy modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy. Holistic and alternative therapies such as meditation, acupuncture and yoga may also be used. Throughout Ohio, there are inpatient and outpatient alcohol use disorder treatment programs that can provide the tools to build a stronger, brighter future where long term recovery is possible.
