I truly loved this place. During my time here, I struggled a lot the first couple weeks, and that was intentional on the programs part. It’s not supposed to be easy and you can adjust to the difficult aspects by truly letting go of wanting to control and accepting why you came to get help. I grew more here in a month than I ever could have in the real world.
I loved the staff, the doctors, the clinicians, the nurses, and my housemates. I never thought I’d say this but I actually miss being here! The forced structure was comforting and having small responsibilities daily helped me stay accountable. I miss making my bed after breakfast and tending to my little plant. I miss racing to the kitchen after group before 9 am hit so I could have one last cup of coffee. I miss that. I miss making things special as opposed to just having carte Blanche to drink caffeine whenever I want now, it takes the meaning out of the actions we choose when we live with no rules or structure.
The content of learning was helpful, and yes at times repetitious, but that’s how we change. Changing isn’t learning something then doing it perfect the next day. It is tedious amounts of reps and time that add up to meaningful change, it’s not glamorous like the world makes change seem. This program is HARD. And that’s what I wanted. I wanted challenge, I wanted growth, and I was sick and tired of being tired. This time in my life I decided I wasn’t the expert on how to do things considering how badly things were going. Please know that if it’s hard or you think it should be your way, it’s okay to let go and let them be the experts in their field. I am forever changed from this place, and I hope you will be too. And I am better for it because of this place, the friendships and love from staff alike.❤️

I came here all the way from New York, as I’m originally from Youngstown and needed to get away from my surroundings for a bit and have a hard reset.
Left treatment today and had a really nice experience here. The staff is super friendly and nice and have a lot of experience with addiction and treatment. As well, the counselors were all great and the groups were helpful.
Don’t come here if you expect to go on vacation or are simply in need of housing and are looking for a day spa that has a medical cabinet. Groups and H & I are a collective seven hours a day (morning, break, afternoon, break, evening) and attendance is expected.
All things said, made some friends, got about as sober as anyone could get in a month, and learned that I’m still apparently really very terrible at basketball. Would recommend.

The Staff at First Step Recovery are phenomenal. I’ve been in First Steps programs since Oct. Of 2024, and at each level of care I’ve had the best treatment from staff. I was in patient from detox to phase 1, and from there to IOP and beyond. And at each level I’ve come to care for the staff more and more, because they cared. And I’m stronger in my recovery more and more every day because of them.

I felt forgiveness immediately. Everyone is so kind, approachable, and well organized. I made an appointment just before the office opened on a Friday. I was in terrible withdrawal pain. Bright View’s nurses and staff courteously excorted me to comfort. The intake took about 6 hours, then I was dosed. I’m glad I chose to go here. Group therapy is amazing and insightful. Transportation provided. Very little is not provided. Weekly prescriptions to begin with. The hotline is available at all times. I have been with Bright View since September 2023. Addiction is treatable and this clinic works well with me to try to solve my problems. They’re going as far as they can to change individual drug habits and doing a great job.

I was recently released from incarceration and I was without a prescription for not only my methadone, but for my anti depressants. All of the staff was so beyond kind and nurturing when i was feeling my worst. Every staff member i’ve interacted with has introduced themselves and told me if i ever need anything to get on my feet, or need help before my next appointment to always call and they’ll make time for me. They are so much more than addiction treatment. The doctor gave me a temporary prescription for my antidepressants while i find a doctor so i wouldn’t be without (that helped me not be suicidal for the next month) and they also helped me to get my insurance set up. These people care. Even the patients i’ve met here have been so kind. And if you’re a woman or lgbtqia+ you’ll love Faith the receptionist. Her style and she checked on me to make sure i felt safe when an older man was chatting with me 🙂 (I was fine, he was awesome actually!) Above all, judgment doesn’t seem to exist here. They’ve helped me get on my feet and make me feel like i have a 2nd home in a matter of 3 appointments. Couldn’t recommend them enough. Thank you guys.

Arrow passage was exactly what I needed being an alcoholic of 35 years. I was admitted into the PHP program which was amazing for my treatment, I was ready to get past the weight of the alcohol destroying everything that I stood for and loved. The counselors, Thomas, Heidi, Bree, Danielle E., Nautica and Joe all made sure that we were actively engaged and understood what our purpose is. I was assigned with my counselor Sam, she is my recovery angel. Sam is all about her clients and challenges them to not only achieve their sobriety but to maintain a lifestyle they can be proud of. She was straight forward, no nonsense, direct but also a compassionate person who listened and guided my treatment with a very clear path. Sam is the ultimate asset for Arrow Passage and compliments her peers very well. I learned honesty is a nonnegotiable virtue and is not waiverable in recovery, so I’ll say this. This place by far is the best place I’ve ever been with success I haven’t had in 15 years! Today I’m 94 days clean by grace of God and Hope valley. Brightview in Wilmington, Ohio has truly been a lifesaver for me. The staff there is truly compassionate and caring. I was an emotional mess when I first stopped there. I didn’t even have an appointment, but I knew I had to get help right away. I’ll be forever grateful to the nurse, Linda, who came to my aid. She welcomed me and my tears with open arms. All of the other staff are truly amazing as well. My Dr. Don truly has a heart of gold and my counselor Lisa is Heaven Sent! I’ve never felt judged or uncomfortable in any way. Everyone that works there is amazing! My thanks goes out to Paula, Lola, Amanda and ALL the staff that have been there to help me through the struggles life has thrown at me this last year. I can’t recall all the names of the other smiling faces that greet me each time I go there, but they all have a way of making me feel like I’m seeing a friend. Awesome job, Brightview! Great people, very friendly and kind. They really take the time to listen to you to try to help give you the right advice and treatments. From the front desk all the way to the back rooms the nurse practitioners everybody I seen and talk to that were there were amazing people. Very patient and understanding that’s what most of us need right now, so if you need a place to go to help you whether it’s anxiety, severe depression etc. they give you hope and they help. If I can give them 10 stars, I would. My best friend Dawn recommended me. And I am so grateful so now I want to pay it forward recommend it to anybody that needs it don’t be ashamed. They don’t make you feel like you’re not human. A lot of place do that they treat you like you’re not humans. I’m sick of getting treated like that. So if you wanna place that does not Judge very kind and nice and patient and actually help you. I would make an appointment ASAP❤️

Outpatient alcohol and substance use disorder treatment provides a comprehensive approach to addiction treatment while allowing an individual to remain at home and continue to meet their work and family obligations. Individuals participate in one on one counseling and group therapy utilizing a mix of behavioral therapies that may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational emotive behavior therapy(REBT), contingency management or motivational interviewing. Individuals learn to recognize personal triggers, develop healthy coping skills and make a plan for the future. Another benefit of outpatient treatment is the peer support that comes from other participants who understand the trials of living with addiction. Through those relationships comes accountability, which is a critical component in overcoming addiction. Outpatient is best for individuals with mild to moderate addiction and a strong support system or for continued treatment after discharge from an inpatient program. In many cases, the cost of outpatient treatment is less than an inpatient stay, making it a more accessible option for some. Throughout Ohio, there are outpatient programs that include standard outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial hospitalization programs (PHP), which provide the therapy, education and support needed to build a future without the burden of addiction.
