We had a truly wonderful experience at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital during the delivery of our granddaughter last month. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles and were incredibly helpful, ensuring that we had all the necessary information and support throughout our visit. The facilities were not only pristine but also designed to create a comforting atmosphere for families, making the entire experience much more enjoyable.
Every member of the medical team, from the nurses to the doctors, exhibited a remarkable level of professionalism and compassion, which made us feel reassured and well cared for as we welcomed our precious new addition to the family. They took the time to explain everything clearly and made our family feel genuinely cared for and supported.
Overall, it was a memorable day filled with both excitement and joy, and we are immensely grateful for the exceptional care provided by Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. The hospital facilities and ambiance were excellent—clean, calm, comfortable, and very well organized.
We are deeply grateful for the professionalism and warmth shown by everyone at the hospital.
Thank you for making such a special occasion even more memorable. Highly recommended !

We had both our babies at the Labor & Delivery Unit in Lucille Packard. Dr. Parsian is absolutely amazing and delivered our daughter in 2024 and our son last week. In 2024, it was a long labor and I got to meet others in the OBGYN team then and they were all kind and accommodating. The nurses and attendants were also amazing and ensured that we were as comfortable as possible and that our concerns were heard. The Anesthesiology team was superb both the times. They ensured the epidural was given promptly once I asked for it, with the least discomfort and the epidurals worked as intended which was a huge relief for me with my labor pain. In all, I would recommend the L&D unit here and especially Dr. Parsian.

Palo Alto, CA | La Selva Group, in Palo Alto, California, provides comprehensive mental health and dual diagnosis care for adolescents and adults, including residential, supportive housing, day treatment, intensive outpatient (IOP), general outpatient (OP), and aftercare programming. Specialized services are also available for young adults, seniors, and trauma sur | Treatments Programs Payment Options | La Selva was a life-changing experience that I believe saved my life. I arrived at La Selva after spending over a month in the hospital, and I was somewhat resistant to treatment; agreeing to residential care was my only option to leave a psychiatric hold. After arriving at La Selva, I was pleasantly surprised by the freedom I had and how my perspective changed.
The Forest Ave house became a home for me, and I appreciated the opportunity to do little chores like cooking with other residents. Contrary to what I expected from a partial-hospitalization, the program offered daily group outings to get boba or walk outside and weekend trips like hikes. This freedom and routine helped me look forward to my days. The amazing residential staff, such as Letty and Alex, were often available to talk and offer support. I was also impressed with Dr. Wang's professionalism and effectiveness in finding medications that worked for me. He listened to my needs and changed my prescriptions to help me cope more easily. The new diagnoses I received helped me cope better with my symptoms.
I appreciated the freedom to choose which sessions to attend and opt-out when the intensity became too much. I highly recommend Jurek's groups, especially family constellation, which helped me work through my issues. Meremy, my one-on-one therapist, was the most compassionate, supportive, and non-judgmental therapist I have ever worked with. She was there for me every week and more often when I was struggling with tough things.
After a month of residential care, I moved on to supportive housing, where I lived without 24/7 staff support. My housemates and the staff Ligia and Simi made the transition relatively seamless. I even began working part-time on weekends, which had been impossible for me before.
After spending several months at La Selva, I had attended nearly every class, created a Wellness Recovery Action Plan, found a new therapist and doctor, found employment, and found housing. After moving away, I have remained stable and am now employed full time. I continue to keep in touch with my friends and the staff at La Selva by attending the Friday meetings at Middlefield every so often.
If you are in need of a program to help you after hospitalization, I highly recommend giving La Selva a try. I am confident that this program can help others in the same way it helped me.

La Selva is a superb place for healing with competent diverse team that deeply cares about the well being of the patients, and saying this doesn’t fully describe my very positive experience nor how much this place helped me with the skills, sense of safety I learned from it.
Not to mention, my experience with the community was actually incredibly unique and helpful.
Thank you La Selva’s team, I feel very fortunate that my path took me to this healing place.

So I have been through intensive outpatient programs before for mental health crisis. In particular, the Kaiser one for severe anxiety. It was pretty much worthless. This is honestly one of the best decisions of my life going here. I have to say I am incredibly impressed by every practitioner. I was wary because of the review but another person saying that unqualified people were leading the groups. Most of the classes are led by LCSW's LMFTs and people who have a doctorate in psychiatry or psychology.
They have several tracks here. One is trauma -focused. I know there is a wait list for that, but if this applies to you, I encourage you to apply for this list. Another one is for alcohol and substance recovery. Most patients here are not on any of the three tracks, but are usually experiencing a mental health crisis, perhaps spurred by an extremely stressful event such as a divorce or loss or just folks who realize they need to take a few months to focus on their mental Health.
The third track is for FND, which is the condition I have. Basically my nerves are overreactive. The condition is diagnosed by neurologists but is treated by psychotherapy, as symptoms are triggered and exacerbated by stress or anxiety. It is incredibly difficult to find treatment programs for this very common neurological condition. I am forever grateful to Dr Lockman, the FND therapist Kathleen Gray (the best therapist I have encountered in years of fairly ineffective therapy over my life) and the other FND group coordinator Kristen for the invaluable support and education. I also attended the other daily classes on healthy communication, mindfulness ,DBT, CBT, ACT and others. I found the group where folks play-acted conversations with significant people in their lives, including themselves, incredibly moving and healing.
I would recommend attending this program to anyone, TBH. I can't see anyone not finding this helpful. Essentially all of the classes and therapy are to help you integrate recognition of your emotions and thoughts and accepting them and yourself. The program includes weekly individual therapy and psychiatry appointments, lunch and optional afternoon classes.

I had a really positive experience at New Life Recovery Center. From day one, everyone made me feel welcome and not judged. It’s a calm, supportive place where you can actually focus on getting better and figuring things out.
What makes this place different is the staff. Every person I met has been through addiction themselves, so they truly get it. You’re not talking to people reading from a book. You’re talking to people who have lived it and come out the other side. That shows in the way they listen, the way they talk to you, and the patience and compassion they bring every day.
The groups were helpful and real. People share honestly and support each other. The counselors and techs are down to earth and always willing to talk if you’re having a rough day. You can tell they care and want you to succeed.
If you’re looking for a place where people understand recovery on a personal level and treat you with respect and kindness, I’d recommend New Life Recovery Center. It’s a solid, supportive community for anyone trying to get their life back on track.

Summit Estates has been a lifesaver for my family. I would describe the staff, counseling services, patient commitment and facility with every superlative term in the dictionary. Our family member received inpatient treatment, PHP and IOP through Summit over the course of a year, and we owe Summit a huge debt of gratitude. The staff members are outstanding: Roshin, Judy, Jon, Annee, to name a few. Addiction is a terrible, lonely disease, and the bright spot has been availing ourselves of the support, tools and community offered by Summit. My disabled but independent son has been at Riviera living for over a year now. Riviera has a medication room; Pedro is very good at making sure my son takes his medication twice a day. They re-order his medication when needed and have it mailed to the facility. They have a cafeteria that cooks really hearty homestyle meals three times a day and snacks in between.
The housekeeper Susan is very aware of everyone that comes and goes. She cleans each room once a week and is like a Mom to the residents. One attendant- Elizabeth saved my son's life when she noticed he was acting strangely and followed him to his room where he had collapsed and was not breathing well. She called an ambulance.
Overall, I think that the staff are very vigilant but overworked. I think that they should hire more attendants so there is always at least 2 at a time in each house, even at night. I think it would be better if they opened a cafeteria in each home so that the residents don't have to cross the street to get to the cafeteria. Also- it would be good if they could organize hair cut visits and pedicure visits because my son will not go on his own and cannot cut his toenails by himself. The laundry is down the street so it is inconvenient for the residents to do their own laundry.

I want to give a huge thank you to Silicon Valley Recovery for all the help, support, and healing I received while I was in treatment. My therapist, Nick, was incredible—he truly helped me do the internal work I needed on a personal level. I’m also grateful to my counselor, Joaquin, and to Joaquin and Sam for helping me with all of my legal and DMV issues during my stay.
English is my second language, and sometimes I felt a little intimidated—especially when my English felt broken—but everyone there was so supportive. They made me feel at home, accepted, and confident. That meant so much to me.
During my time at SVR, I grew a lot as an individual. They helped me build a new way of life, and recovery has shown me how amazing life can be. I’m truly grateful for that.
You can really feel the dedication and compassion from everyone at SVR. The love and care they show each client is something special, and it made a huge difference in my experience. The program itself is amazing—I enjoyed every activity, every outing, and every meeting.
A big shout-out to housekeeping, the chef, the technicians, the facilitators, the medical staff, the nurses, John, Sonia, and everyone else who works so hard behind the scenes. Thank you for everything you do. This place truly made a positive impact on my life.
I’m looking forward to continuing to be part of my SVR family through the alumni program.

I don’t even know where to begin — Silicon Valley Recovery Center changed my life.
I arrived here broken, scared, exhausted, and unsure of where to turn next. From the moment I walked in, the entire team accepted me with open arms. They met every need I had, without hesitation or judgment. They didn’t just give me treatment — they gave me safety, dignity, and hope.
As a member of the LGBTQ community and an African-American man, I am always mindful of where I seek support. Not once did I feel judged, misunderstood, or discriminated against here. I felt respected, valued, and seen. That alone is priceless.
They also welcomed my dog, Asher — which was non-negotiable for me. Not only did they accept him, they loved him, accommodated him, and made sure he had everything he needed. They even went above and beyond and drove me more than an hour away to tour safe housing options for after treatment. That level of compassion and effort is rare.
The programming here is incredible — thoughtful, structured, intentional, and truly life-changing. The therapists, counselors, case managers, medical team, and staff are some of the most genuine humans I’ve ever met. The food is amazing, the amenities are comfortable, and the environment feels like a community, not a facility.
I came here lost and overwhelmed. I’m leaving grounded, clear, hopeful, and excited for the future. I will forever be grateful for what this place has done for me, and I mean that with my whole heart.
If you are looking for a place to heal — a place that treats you like a human being, not a number — this is where you need to be. Silicon Valley Recovery Center saved my life, and I would recommend it to anyone.
If they ever need someone to share a testimonial, speak to potential clients, or represent the program publicly, I’m their guy — that’s how deeply I believe in this place. My dream is to come back one day and work here so I can give back even a fraction of what they gave me.
Thank you, SVRC — for everything. I am forever grateful.

San Mateo, CA | Horizon Treatment Services has a detox program called Detox at Palm Avenue. At the time of writing this text, this location is temporarily closed. But since it’s subject to open again, please double check their website to ensure that they’re indeed open. It’s out in San Mateo, California. Anyway, this 22-bed detox facility treats men, women, | Treatments Programs Payment Options | So, I just left Palm treatment/detox center and wanted to leave a review while it’s fresh in my mind. To begin, when I was first getting checked in, a girl was on her way out literally crying with gratitude for how much this place saved her life. You could tell how genuine and appreciative she was. Super heart warming, so that was a good start.
Pros to going to Palm Ave:
-The staff is great, they genuinely care and all are in recovery themselves so they’re very empathetic.
-It’s small, so if you’re someone who is anxious or nervous, don’t be. If I had to guess I’d say they can only hold up to about 15-20 at most and that’s a huge positive when you’re not at your best at don’t want to be around a hundred other people.
-Food was very clean, healthy, and always available.
-Meds are all taken care of for you, they’ll even pick up your prescriptions and make sure you get them on time, even if you’re asleep, they’re on top of it.
-There’s really only one mandatory meeting (NA/AA) but several groups which are optional that I found really helpful and well led.
-They don’t press you on where or when you need to be somewhere like other treatment centers do. If you need to sleep- you can sleep.
Special shout out to Christian (who helped with meds, he always has good music playing and just a very positive vibe). Also, Tree. I spent ten minutes talking to this man and gained more perspective than I have in probably the last three years. Heather also, very chill and easy to talk to. These people really care. They’ve completely turned their lives around and some have come from really difficult pasts. It’s inspiring to hear their stories.
Not to turn this into a novel but I’m just really stoked places like this exist- and free no less with medi-cal. To finish, if you’re struggling at all, just go for a few days. I only stayed a few days bc I had previously detoxed in a hospital but some stay much longer- the choice is yours.
Thank you to everyone at Palm Ave. I won’t forget it.

Place is amazing!..Staff is amazing and they take the time to make sure that your doing okay. Not just a cursory.." Good Morning" or " Good Night" They actually take an interest in why your there and what they can do to make your stay as successful as possible.
Classes are set up and offered throughout the day to ensure that you have some tools when you leave. There is medical on sight and a caseworker who jumps through hoops to make sure that each client has access to all the available resources in the county.
They have a business model that is golden and should be mirrored by similiar businesses.

I have had an excellent experience at Palm Detox. They reopened and came recommended by members of the community. I was hesitant at first but I showed up embarrassed and defeated.
was treated with respect and staff went out of the way to help me. Female lead staff even brought me clothing, books and hygiene from her home because I was in need of deodorant and the stuffuu they had didn’t work. I didn’t ask, she overheard me and another client talking. She brought him some clothing and a notebook. This place has amazing staff. They tend to follow the rules and it’s annoying sometimes cause I’d like to smoke more and have SUGAR. But I do recommend plus they help u find treatment after.

This location was a breath of fresh air compared to other hospitals I've been to. I had to have a biopsy in the outpatient facility. I had four nurses taking care of me at different times through the process and every one had a great personality and made me feel comfortable. I dont remember all of their names but Dr Singh and Roxy were a few that provided exceptional service.
Im never going to Good Samaritan again, there's just comparing the two
