I was a client at AdCare in North Kingstown, RI in the fall of 2026, for both detox and residential. Considering my personal situation and circumstances, I am very grateful for my experience. The facilities and staff surpassed my expectations; they made my recovery journey relatively painless and one that will be looked upon fondly. The facilities are clean, modern, and well organized. The staff was welcoming, helpful, and very understanding of myself and also my peers. I've learned many tools and strategies to assist me through many troubles I may encounter in my life. My case manager Lacey was as pleasant and always willing to help whenever she could and was always supportive. My counselor Victoria was amazing and has given me the tools, resources, and confidence to continue on my path in recovery. I am very hopeful and confident in my future life in recovery. Since admitting to Adcare earlier this month it’s been nothing but warm and welcoming. From the staff to the patients as well, everyone is understanding and wants to see you do better no matter what your situation is. The group meetings that occur everyday I find the most beneficial to the one on one work done as well. I had the pleasure of working with Scott, who is one of the case managers here at Adcare and he has been able to help me greatly with my circumstances. Then Nick as well who provides one on one care making sure my mind, body, spirit, and goals are all set straight. The facility is in great shape as well from the different amenities (gym, rec room, cafeteria, etc…) to again just an overall comfortable feeling. I would recommend Adcare to anyone who is going through a difficult time with drugs and or alcohol and I’m sure you won’t regret it. Blessed to be able to admitted into this facility and I will continue to use the skills I’ve learned here in the outside world. Thank you Adcare!

My experience at AdCare Addiction Treatment Center has genuinely changed my life.
Joe, Lacey, Scott, Nick, Amy, the counselors, case managers, TAs, nurses, and the entire staff all played a role in my recovery and influenced me tremendously. What stood out most to me was that they actually care about me as a person and about my genuine well-being. I never felt like just another patient.
Coming here also helped me realize just how dark of a place I was in before I arrived. Once I made it through the first two days of detox, I started feeling better, and I’ve continued to feel better every day since.
The groups, clinical work, medication management, and overall structure gave me the tools and support I needed to begin rebuilding my life. AdCare helped make the transition back into society feel much smoother and gave me a different perspective on what my future can look like.

I had a great experience at Stonington Institute. It was a good place for my recovery, and I learned a lot during my time there. The director, Bill S., was excellent, and the staff were kind, respectful, and knew how to communicate with patients in a supportive way. Everyone treated me with professionalism and compassion. At first had some issues medical conditions and allergies to red dye and red sauce. The staff worked immediately to get replacement meals put together for me when the kitchen couldn't the Dr approved medication my husband brought in my insurance kept denying due the red dye allergy. The staff all around gave the best care the could of with someone with my continuous health heart nd conditions. They even went so far to make sure I got cracher wit my seizure meds bc I wasn't supposed to take on a empty stomach. I give it a five star rating bc I accomplished successfully with the team of charm. Heather bill had his role nd Roger but mainly the staff over in the dorms who deals with us 7 days a week

You won’t feel hurried or rushed due to someone just trying to tax your insurance never was I made to feel like a number.daily house meetings counseling sessions and and dinner together are a must however you have your whole day and night to gain employment and reconnect with your loved one’s. Once you’ve completed the required steps in this home you will move to a sober home of the mission if you choose to continue . In the sober home you will be able to move freely to work to meeting and whatever your recreational activities may be. All of this sounded so uncomfortable to me until I saw and lived it myself and I can tell you there is just such an opportunity for you and a chance to build a life that sounds like such a fairytale when I was in active addiction . There is a meeting every morning on the beach that completely changes your mind about your chances. I had been to Rhode Island Addiction Treatment Center in Warwick about a year ago, and while the staff were always wonderful, I felt the programming needed a little TLC. When I decided to come back a year later, I was genuinely surprised by how much things had changed.
The staff are still absolutely amazing, but the programming has improved tremendously. You can tell there is a real commitment to helping people succeed, not just getting them through the program. They truly care about the people they work with and want to see you do well.
Yes, it can be intense at times, but you’re surrounded by people who understand what you’re going through and share that common ground. There’s something really meaningful about being in a room where you don’t have to explain everything because others just get it.
I’m really grateful I gave this place another chance. The difference a year can make is pretty incredible, and I’m happy to say that my experience this time has been absolutely fabulous. ❤️

This place is great, and the people running it are super helpful. I definitely learned a lot about why I was doing what I did. You get time to listen and be heard. And the zoom meetings at night helped when I had to work during the day. If you're on the fence about going, I highly recommend you give it a chance.

I have had the honor of being accepted into the program, the class and meeting are well put together, they do have the skills you need to be successful in your recovery, you just need to be completely focused on your recovery and dedicate yourself to that, because if you don't the program will not work.
I sit back and watch women complain and iI see them same women not fully applying themself to the program, if you want something to work you have to read and do what the instructions say or you're not going to get it right, and you tend to blame the program.
1st I believe the consistent use of the cell phones are a major distraction to our recovery while we are here, there are unit phones that can be used.
Also, the rules need to be enforced more and taken serious by the clients, the disrespect between the clients are childish in this moment, so staff are in high stress due to the disrespect they receive by the clients, please don't believe all the wrong things you here about this program.

I was in Roberts Health Care and found the staff and everyone I encountered to be top notch. The food was delicious. They kept my son informed on my progress. Thrive has saved SO Many lives and it's because of the great people who work there. While other major R.I. Behavioral Health Centers have come under the jurisdiction and ownership of large hospital groups, Thrive, Newport BH, and CCA in the North are still NOT operated by large corporate Hospital Groups and all the conflicts of interest that may entail. Thrive has programs that are unique too. There's the Briggs School whose aim is to help kids going through rough patches get back on track and back to the public schools as soon as they can. There's the Hillsgrove Clubhouse that is part of the world-wide Clubhouse International movement. While Massachusetts has around 30 Clubhouses there with their population of 7.2 million. Little Rhody has just one Clubhouse for a million Rhode Islanders, and it's Thrive that makes sure that we have one. Accredited Clubhouses like Hillsgrove will have their people 4x as likely to be employed and in the competitive public job market than consumers not receiving that help. Recovery DOES Happen. (We need more Clubhouses in RI!) Thrive has a prison diversion program originally designed for veterans who had an 80% recidivism (return to prison) rate. Thrive's program has flipped that number upside down saving the State large sums of money and helping vets live dignified lives. Thrive has expanded this program successfully knowing that prison is likely the last place on earth for a person suffering from anxiety or deep depression or psychosis "to get better". Recovery DOES happen! Thrive has a unique program designed around, and for young adults called "Healthy Transitions." Thrive is also successfully partnered with the Warwick Police Department to provide invaluable technical help for officers in the field, who may've had great police training, but not extensive training in Behavioral Health. And of course Thrive has the usual programs like psychiatric prescribers, case management services, homeless outreach, therapy groups, addiction treatment services, group homes, and supervised housing. Again, Thrive has saved SO Many lives and it's because of the great people who work there.
