Located in the southwestern corner of Utah, in the small town of Virgin, is the Liahona Treatment Center. The residential treatment prog
When I sent my Godson to Liahona Academy, it was the hardest decision that I ever made. He has recently graduated, and I now know that it was also the best decision that I ever made. He struggled in the beginning, but once he finally understood that I only wanted him to become a better person, he started making changes. He is now ahead in school, has great grades, and an excellent relationship with anyone that he wants to have a relationship with. I can guarantee that if you sent your son here and you give him time to figure it out, he eventually will, and you will never regret your decision. My Godson came out of Liahona academy as a completely transformed man. He was a child with all kinds of manipulative “techniques”. Now he is a reborn man, a man who is honest and sincere, a man who you can count on to be a positive leader and have a great attitude. I am grateful for all the staff at Liahona academy, and especially for his therapist Benjamin Haslam, the program director, Richard May, and the case manager, Beverly Carayas. THANK YOU 🙏🏻

My experience with this particular facility has been nothing but a positive situation for me. The staff, all the way from the Director down to the office girls have been almost like a family to me. The compassion that I have been shown means so much to me & out of all the programs I have encountered, this one is by far the BEST. My councilor has also been a positive force in my life & really gone to bat for me. But most of all, although everyone remains very professional, they are all very caring & treat me with respect. I'm very grateful for this place & I just would like to say "THANK YOU". Sincerely, Jeff Butterfield

I worked with Austin for a few weeks and he was very patient and compassionate. He definitely did the best with the time he had and also provided resources in the area that I was moving. Before I went to Lava Heights, I was depressed, a self harmer, and I was into substance abuse; blaming my family for my problems through all of this. Now that I'm out and graduated, I have graduated High School a year early (from Lava Heights), applied for college and have my classes picked out, am working two jobs to pay for college and have an amazing relationship with my family. Lava offers AA, addictions group, a safe environment, healthy boundaries with a co-ed environment, fun and appropriate activities, and an over-all great experience. It's not bland, there are decorations accommodating the season it is, and the teachers are very ambitious with their students. I wouldn't take this experience back for anything in the world. So glad my parents sent me to Lava.

I came to Deer Hollow carrying years of unresolved trauma and symptoms that had taken over my life. I had tried therapy before, but nothing reached the root of what I was dealing with until I walked through their doors. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel safe, grounded, and understood in a way I hadn’t experienced anywhere else. Residential treatment was intense, structured, and emotionally heavy at times — but it was also exactly what I needed. The trauma-focused work, especially IFS, helped me understand why I reacted the way I did, where my patterns came from, and how to work with the parts of myself that had been stuck for so long. The therapists were incredibly skilled, patient, and compassionate. They didn’t just teach me tools; they helped me truly heal. Moving through the step-down levels of care gave me time and support to practice what I was learning while still having a clinical team behind me. Each phase built on the one before it, and for the first time, I felt real change happening — not temporary relief, but deep, foundational healing. Deer Hollow didn’t just help me manage my trauma; they helped me reclaim my life. I’m grateful every day that I made the decision to go.

The Pathways inpatient facility gave me more than physical safety and care—it gave me something I had never truly known before: true emotional safety. The entire staff worked together to help me grow in the three areas of life that must be engaged—mind, body, and spirit. I walked in carrying a heavy prejudice against all men, but it was three men in particular who ended up aiding me the most, showing me that at our core, we really are all just human. My main therapist, Daryl, guided me through reshaping my mindset and digging into my past to uncover my deepest wounds. He stood by me on one of the most emotionally painful days of my life, and I will never forget Destiny—one of the incredible nurses—literally running after him as he was about to head home, just so he could be there for me in that moment. Dr. Sellers provided me with the best medical care I could have asked for. He never rushed through visits, always taking the time to explain not just what he was doing, but why—making sure I understood and felt safe with my treatment. I also want to thank Dawn, a powerhouse nurse who believed in my strength even when I couldn’t see it myself, and who pushed me to rise to the challenge. Michael Ryan gave me the gift of faith and clarity in my higher power. He challenged me in ways I desperately needed, helping me confront the destructive core beliefs that caused me so much suffering and turn them upside down. He gave me the tools to question my own thoughts, and to approach them with both curiosity and compassion. Somehow, even in the middle of facing the hardest truths, he still managed to make me laugh and feel safe. I would also like to thank Lonnie, whose powerful meditation sessions left a deep impact on me. His encouragement meant so much because it came from a place of such authenticity. To all of you—thank you not just for changing my life, but for teaching me how to truly live it to the fullest.

There are many wonderful organizations and people in service to helping others with treatment and recovery. For me, the right fit was, is, and will continue to be Pathways. These folks are authentic in their desire to help change lives. They are some of the most remarkable humans I have been blessed with coming across in life. They are talented and skilled, and well equipped to meet mental health and substance abuse needs. They are particularly experienced with integrating well-rounded trauma focused treatment, using a variety of evidence based treatment modalities. Pathways staff AND clients create a safe space of healing and growth, and a place of acceptance and belonging, and without judgement. As a pathways client, I feel a sense of unity, community, and unyielding support. Pathways has LITERALLY saved my life. They have helped me find healing, and open doors to change my life. They have equipped me with the confidence, strength, tools, and understanding of my root influences to my recovery needs to live a new life, my best life! A life of healing and happiness I have never experienced before. I will be in eternal gratitude for this very sacred organization. Schedule a consult... you have nothing to lose and only a healthy and happy life to gain. You are not alone. There IS hope!

I was here for about 3 months, then was in sober living briefly, before going back out. The therapists are good, but only human. Theyll crack you open good. The real question I suppose is was I better off having come here? Absolutely. But in the end I had to assess whether I was really doing what I wanted. I regret leaving. But I also needed to figure some things out for myself. I miss the community. And dont think they are in it for the money. They arent. They were willijg to pay for all my housing, keep me extra time, and let me stay even when there was no way I should have been able to. Wasatch is worth every cent because of Todd he told me that I was recovered the day I stopped using drugs. He is one of the greatest minds the Recovery community has. I am writing this from a hyperbaric and still sober. I didn't stay the whole time but I got what I needed. As a veteran in the opiate epidemic and a 20+ time rehab connoisseur. I can say Todd one talk with him brought more healing and more recovery than hundreds of meetings, doing the 12 steps and thousand hours of treatment groups. Find your people. Be of service. Give back. Heal your body. Up north there's a hyperbaric and wellness in ogden ran by a beautiful women named Mel who is also phenomenal human. If you go there try the tesla coil. It is a phenomenal for balacing your energy. I truly believe addicts are healers and if we can conquer our addiction we can light . Anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk

I have struggled with intense, debilitating depression for the better part of 15 years. I had tried everything - dozens of antidepressants, other various medications, eating healthy, exercising regularly, etc but nothing seemed to work to help alleviate my symptoms fully. After completing the full treatment of TMS, I can genuinely say my life has significantly changed for the better. I was staring to feel hopeless in my battle with depression, that I would live like this for the rest of my life. Since TMS, my depression and anxiety has all but disappeared. I feel happy, motivated, and enjoy the day to day experience like I never knew I could. It’s been months since my last treatment, yet everyday continues to be a blessing. Jamie is extremely knowledgeable , educated, and overall just a great person. He has helped to change my life and I will forever be grateful for him. I continue to incorporate the knowledge and techniques learned while there into my life today. Thank you!

DO NOT SEND ANY LOVED ONES HERE!! This review is long overdue. I actually decided to see if this place was still in business and I couldn't believe it was still operating. I went here in 2005, I went straight from a hospital to this program. They lied to my parents at the time and told them it was a program that was lead with kindness and they would help people become stronger again that suffered from emotional challenges. I am someone that suffers from severe treatment resistant depression, anxiety, insomnia, and panic. I am not a person that has ever been jailed for hurting others, I would never hurt anyone. When I arrived, they stripped me down, did an anal cavity search, and then put me in standard issue clothes. They then blindfolded me and drove me in a Jeep into the Utah wilderness. When I arrived, there were two other guys there that were serving a sentence by a judge. They gave me a travel pack of toilet paper and told me that was all I would have to use for the entire month to wipe with. They made us sleep in the rain with no tarp. I was so sick at the time that they had to get me out of the environment to see the doctor that I think only came into the field every few weeks. They blindfolded me again, I was in a state of panic and couldn't be blindfolded. I was crying hysterically and they were treated me like a prison would treat an inmate. It was one of the most horrific experiences of my life. They would not refund our money and life went on. Please please please do not ever send someone you care about to this program. They just know people in high places in Utah to be able to get away with this type of punitive treatment of humans. Whether you are serving a sentence or not, you should never be treated like this. It was horrible and awful and anyone associated with this place should be ashamed of themselves.

New Haven offers residential treatments for teenage girls struggling with anxiety, stress, substance abuse or eating disorders in a home-like atmosphere. New Haven is located at Spanish Fork, Utah. New Haven focuses on discovering your daughter despite her struggles. New Haven is known for its clinical excellence as they not only provide a variety
Sending my daughter to a residential treatment center was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make as a parent, and I was incredibly apprehensive at first. However, our experience with New Haven’s Stabilization & Assessment Program far exceeded every expectation I had. I am genuinely grateful for the level of care, support, and communication we received from day one. The clinical director and my daughter’s therapist, Cassi, was truly exceptional. Cassi built trust with my daughter in a way I had not seen before, and knowing that my daughter felt safe going to her with anything meant everything to me. The clinical leadership made sure I understood every step of the process, and they took my concerns seriously from the moment we arrived. Their professionalism, compassion, and genuine investment in my daughter’s well-being stood out immediately. The nursing staff was just as incredible. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure her safety, monitor her needs, and communicate with me about even the smallest changes or questions. There was never a moment when I felt out of the loop. Whether it was a medical update or a quick check-in, their communication was consistent, thoughtful, and reassuring. I could always reach someone when I needed to, and I never once felt like my daughter wasn’t in excellent hands. One of the biggest strengths of New Haven’s program is how thorough, individualized, and comprehensive their assessment process is. They provided the most detailed psychological evaluation my daughter has ever received, and for the first time, I truly felt like her experiences, symptoms, and struggles were understood with depth and accuracy. They paid attention to nuances that are so often overlooked by other providers, and those insights have already transformed how I support her at home. Despite some negative reviews in the past, our experience was nothing short of outstanding. The program is thoughtfully designed, tailored to each child’s needs, and grounded in compassion and clinical expertise. I felt supported at every turn; not just my daughter, but me as a parent navigating an overwhelming situation. My daughter made meaningful progress during her three months there, and the foundation they helped her build is something she continues to benefit from today. I am sincerely grateful for the entire team at New Haven, and I would not hesitate to recommend this program to any family whose child needs this level of care. They truly changed our lives for the better.

The team of therapists, relational coaches, medical staff, and teachers was all needed to create a safety bubble around our teen while she experienced a real and present storm in her life requiring therapy (individual, group, & family therapy). After 12 months of school and therapy, she was able to actually complete high school early and has launched successfully into her college experience. Thankfully, New Haven offers aftercare options to make the transition bearable- it is a lot to transition from a safety bubble to college life. We appreciate the deep care from all the staff, including the cook and night staff, who all make themselves available to the kiddos when a listening ear is needed. The reason for 4 stars was because we would’ve like to see more daily physical activity included in the program for a healthy lifestyle. However, there were parent weekends to national parks and many outdoor opportunities. In summary, New Haven aims at making families whole and we were blessed to be one of those families.

My daughter spent a year at New Haven and it was an excellent experience for us and for her. If you are considering New Haven, you’re in a tough place and have been through a lot. We were there and made mistakes before finding New Haven. The team was excellent - especially her counselor (shout out to the amazing Amy). The depth of the program and the quality of the people had a profoundly positive impact on our daughter and our family. I’m extremely thankful that we found this place. We still stay in touch with multiple families that we met through the program. My daughter supported my writing this review which says everything. These are good people doing good work.

I was thinking about my time at Reflections today and realized I’ve never left a review. This place is a god send. It truly saved my life, multiple times. The staff genuinely cares about your well being and they push you to do things that you never thought you’d be able to accomplish. They gave me hope and love when I felt unworthy of either. For the rest of my life I will be thankful for everything this amazing treatment center and the loving people that work there did for me in my darkest days. The family atmosphere and the amazing staff who genuinely care and always had my best interests at heart, the case management team were amazing at helping me to figure out a safe place to live and aftercare, the medical staff especially Sarah!! were amazing at helping me find the right medications and make sure I was sleeping well and feeling good and I can’t say enough about the clinical team!! I changed my life at reflections and I would recommend it for anyone who wants to get real solid treatment and not just a vacation!! Thank you Dustin and all the staff!!

Forte Strong is a residential treatment program for young men in St. George, Utah. They provide residential mental health treatment and coaching for young adult men aged 18 through 30. I recently left Forte Strong and am currently residing in St. George. I have a great job now and a chance to move up in my company by going to graduate school. Forte Strong was very tough in the beginning and to be completely honest, I actually hated it. I felt like everyone was against me, including the director. I thought they were just trying to make me jump through meaningless hoops. I was tired, depressed, anxious, and had very little self confidence. In a fit of frustration, I vented to one of my housemates the director wasn’t helping and was actually making it worse. The guy said the director’s methods will all make sense in the end. Obviously, at the time, I blew that off as utter nonsense. A month or so later, I was having a lot of anxiety and the director supported me in my time of need in a way that was quite unfamiliar to me at the time. I was shocked. He did care and not only that, he believed in my strength and resilience. My opinions of him changed almost immediately. He became my biggest mentor in the program. I went to him for problems I may have had, how I could have handled this situation differently, how I could have a better relationship with my parents, etc. He was there for me and I was ready to listen. In a matter of 5 and half months, my relationship with one of my parents changed drastically, a feat I thought was near impossible and hopeless when I entered the program. My resilience increased, my self confidence increased because I was doing well at work, and I had more trust in my abilities. Everything was changing for the better. I was going to be fine. I also made countless friends along the way, people that I will still keep in contact with for a while. I have also dealt with challenging people in the program, people who I really didn’t care for and who didn’t really align with my values. The program director mentored me through dealing with difficult people. It was an uphill battle, but it is all about learning. Now, I’m not going to say that this program is for everyone. It definitely is not. There is a stark contrast between the people who actually want to be there and to work on themselves and the people who feel forced by their parents. I was fortunately the former. And as I sit in my new apartment in St. George on a bright Saturday morning, I want to say thank you Brook for all you have done for me.

It is not an experience that is right for everyone but it has made a big difference for a family member. My thoughts: If you are looking for traditional heavy therapy environment focused on diagnosis and medication management this is not for your family member. Forte has therapy and medication management but it is not the core of what they do. It is a small piece of it and one that I think has opportunity to be improved upon. That being said, not why you come here. If you have a young man who cannot move forward to adulthood responsibilities regardless of the cause this may be for your family. I say may because there is really no way to predict if this formula is the right one. For our family member, routine, coaching, basic skills for healthy living and independence were that formula. A real differentiator here is the obligation to work during the program. It is not just an obligation but central to success. That, plus the independence gained riding and owning a motor scooter ( something I could never have imagined) made a huge impact. The coaches are kind, empathetic but tough and direct and the same time. They are practical and this coupled with the simplicity of life in St. George are also very helpful. My family member has chosen to remain in St. George and is is moving out on his own, has a nice job and is on the road to a professional career that feels more in line with his interests. His stress is vastly improved, as is depression and he has better interactions with his family than before. Opportunities exist with the therapy and communication with parents. It is not perfect but the Director is amazing and open to feedback. At the end of the day they genuinely care and work hard purely in the interests of these young men. It is expensive but if the behavior I see now sustains itself - well worth it.
