I recently had surgery and stayed at this hospital. The pre-op was thorough, efficient and professional. My surgery went well and the medical team was great. My stay on the second floor went well, also, and I felt very cared for. I'd especially like to commend Bryan, Sidney and Tammy for their kindness.

I have read others reviews & reading between the lines, I believe that the bad reviews are coming from difficult people. I have been to the e.r. with my daughter several times when her knee would displace. She always received good care. I have been to the e.r. several times with my father & I can say they are especially compassionate with the elderly. The best experience occurred recently. We took my Dad to e.r. at Dekalb Regional for an infected, bleeding (diabetic) foot & they admitted him to a room quickly. We have been here a couple of days with him receiving antibiotics in his I.V. & Dr Thompson checking on him twice a day to consider if the foot will need surgery. Staff have all been wonderful to him. Thanks from the bottom of my ❤️

On Mondays they are available for any new intakes. There are three offices in each county - Cherokee, Etowah, DeKalb (C.E.D.) And, I believe Etowah would be the more convoluted of the three since Etowah has a much larger population than Cherokee and Dekalb.
I imagine that when an emergency/crisis arises they have to drop everything and focus on those people that are on the verge of harming themselves and/or others. I can also imagine these emergencies can happen at a moment's notice and it may not be only one at a given time.

My first stay helped me get clean, but I wasn’t ready to face the deeper issues underneath it all. This time, the staff welcomed me back without judgment and adjusted the entire program to fit where I was in my journey. The therapy felt more focused, the conversations more honest, and I could feel myself opening up in ways I hadn’t before. Alabama Recovery had a real down-to-earth vibe that made me feel welcome from the jump. It wasn’t fancy or flashy — just real people who cared and knew what they were doing. I recently had the privilege of spending a week at Willowbrooke Mental Institute, and I must say it was a truly transformative experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of calm and serenity wash over me, thanks to the beautiful surroundings and the warm welcome from the staff. The facilities were top-notch, with spacious rooms and a serene atmosphere that made it easy to relax and unwind. The therapy sessions were led by experienced professionals who were knowledgeable and empathetic, and the group sessions were engaging and thought-provoking. But what really impressed me was the sense of community that permeated every aspect of the program. From the daily activities to the meals, everything was designed to promote connection and camaraderie among the residents. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that everyone felt supported and included, and I left feeling like I was part of a true community rather than just a patient. Overall, my experience at Willowbrooke was nothing short of exceptional, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a compassionate and effective approach to mental health treatment.

New to the facility. Counselor Janet is great. Very professional and caring. NP karen brazzle seems to be a good nurse practitioner. Seemed to really want to help. For people like me who are seriously struggling with life, she seemed to care. And wants to help.
EDIT 8-14-24
I've been seeing Karen Brazzle for approx 3 years now. I have nothing but good things to say. I don't know how to explain her in a few words, so I'll do my best. Kind, caring, knowledge, passionate, and will take the time needed. Im not the type to visit a place like this, much less stay. But I'm over 3 years. The staff is nice and hospitable, as much as they can be. Scheduling has never been an issue. I use the in house pharmacy Genoa. I've decided to come off most, but they were always ready for pick up and we're offered to be shipped. I can't promise you'll get assigned Karen, and I have t encountered any other practicioners. They do exclusively telehealth, so if that's a problem for you. I believe their counseling is done in house, and can't comment on those staff. If you're struggling and need help, the low rating that is shown hasn't at all been my experience. Hope this finds you well.
