About Baptist Memorial Hospital Chemical Dependency Unit

Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle is situated in Columbus, Mississippi. The hospital offers many services, including behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment. The hospital has inpatient and outpatient treatment programs. They accept insurance, and they have a financial assistance program for underinsured and uninsured clients.

Finding Individualized SUD and Mental Health Care in Columbus

Columbus, the birthplace of famous American playwright Tennessee Williams, is known for its historical significance, original Antebellum architecture, and jazz and blues roots. Columbus is known as the “Friendly City,” and if you need mental health or addiction treatment, you can find it here.

The hospital has an inpatient chemical dependency unit for clients 18 and older. The unit provides a 24/7 medically monitored detox overseen by board certified psychiatrists. The treatment team includes nurses, alcohol and drug counselors, and social workers. After detox and treatment, clients have access to the Alcohol and Drug Aftercare Program at no charge.

Clients with co-occurring mental health disorders may also receive inpatient treatment. Common psychiatric disorders treated include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Clients receive individual therapy sessions with psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists.

Intensive Outpatient SUD Program in Lowndes County, Mississippi

The hospital also offers an eight week intensive outpatient program (IOP) for clients 18 and older with SUD. The nice thing about this program is that it’s intensive but offers some flexibility for clients who need to attend work or school. The program uses the 12 Step model of recovery and helps clients learn to cope with daily life stressors without turning to substances.

Comprehensive Wound Care in Columbus, Mississippi

It’s not uncommon for clients with SUD to have problems with wounds that won’t heal. The Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine program works with clients with persistent wounds. The team assists clients with wound infections, diabetic foot ulcers, pressure injuries, and other types of wounds to give them the latest in wound care.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding my recent visit to the emergency room, which was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. During my visit, I encountered a nurse who was not only rude but also seemed completely unconcerned about my condition. I found myself having to repeat important information multiple times, which is not only frustrating but also alarming when dealing with health issues. Additionally, the physician assistant assigned to my case displayed a concerning lack of experience. It is critical that heart patients receive care from professionals who are not only knowledgeable but also compassionate and attentive. Unfortunately, this was not my experience. I believe it is essential for your team to reassess the training and support provided to staff members in high-stakes environments like the ER. Patients in vulnerable situations deserve competent and empathetic care. Thank you for taking the time to consider my feedback. I hope it leads to improvements that ensure better experiences for future patients.
