Great place. Staff was very friendly. Dr. Hipp has the best bedside manner. Took our 4yo girl in for a cut to her eyebrow. He played with her and get her to relax before glueing the wound shut. My son spent 3 months at Stonewater a year and a half ago and had a fantastic experience. He thanked us for sending him and credited Stonewater with saving his life. After he came home he was able to participate in ongoing alumni support calls, and was doing well until recently when due to a couple of traumatic events in his life he fell back into old coping skills. I reached back out to Stonewater and received help in finding a great place for him to return to recovery, now as an adult, and Stonewater has continued to work with the staff at the new facility to make his care as seamless as possible. Even his counselor - whom he says is the best counselor he ever had - reached out to me by email immediately and is working with his new counselor and with him as he moves forward. Stonewater is an amazing place with amazing people who see their job as a mission. Do not hesitate to let them treat your son and trust them in the process!

We can’t praise Stonewater enough! Our son, our home was in need of intervention. Today I’m happy to report our son is over 1 year clean and our family trio is learning to listen and to be accountable to one another. It is a journey and process. With the continued support for not only the boys but the parents/families as well, it truly sets this place apart from other recovery centers.
Our backstory, Kaleb was 14 years old and on a path of destruction which ultimately landed him in juvenile detention. When facing the judge we pleaded with him to give him yet another chance, but this time was to be sent to Stonewater. After a lot of research including reading the many stories that sounded like ours, we felt like we had hope. A 90 program seemed like forever but it was worth every moment.

I would not recommend anyone coming here. I went there for ARFID. They didn’t help my eating at all. Instead of encouraging me to try new foods, they forced me to eat what they had. And if I didn’t eat, I would have to drink this God awful drink. For the three days I was there that was pretty much all I consumed. And I only stayed three days because I hated it there so much. I was 19 when I went. And I missed my mom so so much but they refused to let me have any contact with her for the first two weeks of being there. It wasn’t until I pretty much had a meltdown and begged that they let me call my mom. The atmosphere is very uncomfortable and a lot of the things that are forced, are things that I did not sign up for nor did I know that these things were going to happen. When I first arrived, they gave me some sort of shot. They never told me what it was nor did they make me or my mother aware that They were going to give me any shots. When going to the bathroom, you can’t just go whenever you want. They have special times for you to go to the bathroom, and you have to leave the door cracked open so that they can watch you as you do your thing which is very humiliating. Majority of the girls that I was with said that they had been there for a long while or that that was their second or third time being there. Which should tell you that no one is getting better. And the pictures of the food that they show on their website, Completely false. They pretty much served cafeteria food. Soggy chicken nuggets, cold french fries. The staff there wasn’t necessarily mean, but they also weren’t very friendly. And once you get there, you’re supposed to be assigned a therapist, I never saw mine, nor did I ever see my nutritionist which you were also supposed to be assigned when you get there. They take you out to eat every Thursday, And when they do, they take away your forks and knives. I understand for certain people, because some of the girls there weren’t very stable mentally. But I just thought it was humiliating for me. To have my fork and knife taken away from me in front of my waitress like I was some chick in a psych ward who was gonna stab someone. And I don’t think that any of them actually knew how to treat ARFID. All the staff treated me like I had Anorexia. Which was not the case. ARFID Is simply the dislike, or fear of food. It has nothing to do with body Image. Also, all of the money that my mom was sending there to help me and my needs were being used to buy LGBTQ+ decorations for the house. No judgment, but if they want to decorate the house with that stuff, they can use their own money. My money was not sent over to help with decorations that don’t even align with my family’s beliefs, (again, not that I have to explain myself to anyone, but this is not to judge or condemn anyone, you do you boo) it was to help me get food or necessities. So a lot of the things that I was paying for, didn’t go towards anything that was agreed upon in the contract that we signed. Don’t waste your money

Beautifully designed hospital with state of the art medical equipment. Easily accessible off of I-459. The cafeteria staff members on the weekends are incredibly slow, inefficient, and inconsiderate (one was asking me to repeat my order multiple times; she had AirPods in her ears - perhaps the issue was her). That is my only complaint after spending significant time one weekend at UAB Medical West visiting a dying friend. Of course, I realize cafeteria staff/services are often outsourced. Should have updated this long ago, but this VA clinic has gotten Sooo much better the last couple of years. Staff is friendly, helpful, and now return phone calls within a few hours. I feel heard and health concerns are taken care of soon.
Thanks for all you do.
I'm shocked and dismayed that something has not been done to aid the suffering veterans that are subject to the poor care provided ... wait, to say provided would imply that SOME care has been given by this clinic. It appears that rather than answer calls they just hang up and if you're lucky enough to be to wait through the useless voicemail system and are able to leave a message it won't be returned. I've been trying to get through to this clinic for over six months and have yet to make contact. I've written my senators and an currently working on placing an OIG complaint. This office needs to be investigated and if need be, totally restaffed. Veterans should not have to put up with this kind of mistreatment after having served to protect their country.

This clinic works as a go to place near Meridian MS. Offers a lab, nurses, social workers, and ways to check on VA appointments. The only real problem is the parking lot in front is tight and drivers sometimes hit parked vehicles. The other issue is it opens at 0800, would be great especially 2 days a week is to open early to do bloodwork at lab so one can then get to work after.

The VA clinic in Meridian doesn't really have a wait time. If your appointment is set, then you can almost be certain thar you will see your provider at that time. So far, I have had no issues with being seen promptly and getting out of my appointment on time.
