Derby, CT | Located in Derby, Connecticut is the Griffin Hospital. This is an acute care community hospital that serves residents throughout the Lower Naugatuck Valley region. They have a dedicated behavioral health and addiction treatment department that will support you through your substance use struggles. Offering person focus and culturally competent car | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I went here at the end of June. There were some good things that happened and bad things. Not every nurse was nice, but they weren't cruel to me. They were very open to me being Wiccan and I felt accepted and safe. I had a couple of bad days, but all the patients were so nice. I had two roommates who were total sweeties and they helped me put things into perspective. The food was delicious and I highly recommend it, however you need to communicate exactly what you want to the kitchen staff. Most patients complained that they didn't get what they ordered, but it's easy to forget when they take your dinner order and the next day meals too. I loved to do coloring, but the nurses never seemed to have time to keep the colored pencils sharpened, nor would they allow us to sharpen them. Some of the nurses acted like you were wasting their time. With one TV and not tons of stuff to do, it felt like being back in the 90s only I couldn't go outside. The groups felt like Girl Scout camp. I would advise family members to call ahead to find out what personal items are allowed when visiting and the hospital doesn't offer conditioner for hair and they won't let you have one from home if it has the "cetearyl alcohol" in it which is stupid because the hand lotion they give you has the same ingredient!!

Derby, CT | Griffin Hospital – Dual Diagnosis, located in Derby, Connecticut is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including alcoholism, co-occurring mental health disorders, and opiate addiction. They offer supervised medical treatment to safely manage withdrawal symptoms during detoxification, | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I came out of yale psych and straight to iop at griffin . Without the program i would have spiraled down further . It was better than being left on my own . I feel like there is more they can offer but would need more staff . For what they have and do offer it got me through a rough time AFTER i was treated by an inpatient hospital setting . In response to the other reviews i just want to say that yes if i came there to griffin iop without having been to yale or somewhere of the like I would probably feel the same as they do . Its not really for that stuff . If its that bad you gotta go in patient and the abuse gotta go to the proper place . Iop is really a post care thing in my opinion . They are not staffed for one on one very often . It IS a group setting mainly so be prepared . You get out what you put in also . I had a good experience here and i want to thank them all . I was in the mental health group . It helped me along tremendously . So long as I did the work at home . Its not gonna work for every situation . But its great for what it is .

I was a client here a few years ago, and attending Turnbridge was literally the best decision I have ever made. It saved my life.
The staff at Turnbridge truly care. They go above an beyond to make sure that the clients are comfortable and most importantly safe. They work here because they care. The clinical and psychiatric staff challenged me like no other providers had in the past. I was in and out of therapy for many years, but never genuinely engaged with a clinician until I came to Turnbridge. They helped me rebuild my relationship with my family. Celebrating 8 years sober this week, and I wanted to reflect on my time at Silver Hill, and express the deep gratitude I have for this facility. This place truly saved my life! After multiple failed attempts at other facilities, this place laid a lasting, strong foundation for my long term recovery from alcoholism, drug addiction, and mental health struggles. It is the most incredibly warm, nurturing, and loving environment for early recovery, and it truly transformed my life. I am forever grateful for the time I spent at Silver Hill. Beautiful campus— they separate the units into houses, so you recover in a homelike setting, rather than a sterile hospital room. They had an amazing staff, full of very knowledgeable doctors and therapists, and I learned so much about myself during my stay there. If I could give it a million stars, I would. Thank you for everything, Silver Hill!

If you are willing to do the work, commit to yourself that YOU are worth the time & energy needed that it takes to truly recover, and remain sober then I highly recommend you give Retreat a try. MCCA new milford has helped me so much in so many aspects of my life. I personally would have never signed myself up for the IOP classes but im glad court mandated me to take them after I got pulled over drunk. Sue is such an amazing counselor and makes you feel comfortable to be able to talk about my issues and be able to work on them. I am a very stubborn person and she helped me realize that some of the things were not right. I still continue to see her once a month even after my program was done. I have recommended a few friends to go see her at MCCA because it could help them better their life and battle with issues just like it happened to me.

My class was court ordered, but it has almost been a blessing in disguise. I’ve learned so much, even though the curriculum they have to read out of and engage with the class, is a bit outdated, Alyssa and Sue still manage to bring the topics up to date to help you relate and retain. Sue, Alyssa and Jess…some of the most compassionate and understanding people you could ever ask and hope for going through this life choice of committing to better not only your health, your mental health. You’re with so many great people. Everyone conquering and learning about themselves and each other together. Hearing that you’re truly not alone, really is a powerful part of healing.
My time with MCCA may not have been by my choice, but I am grateful for the tools and personal will power it has given me to be the better version of myself. Sober.

Newport Academy is an addiction treatment center for individual | Programs Payment Options | Newport was such a helpful and worth it choice for my recovery. I was provided with great care no matter the time of day or night. My family therapist moe, helped my parent and I start to grow a relationship I never thought id have. My CC's were amazing people! Its really hard to go into residential knowing you wont be home for a long time, but all of my staff made it so much easier and fun. It makes a big difference when your staff and treatment team can have fun and want to be there with all of you so thank you guys for that! The food i will say i struggled with. It wasn't the best tasting or most diverse menu but some days it was pretty good. All of the teachers at Newport are amazing. They make learning fun and relaxed while also still encouraging you to get your work done. I was scared to go to residential but Newport was such a great experience for me and has helped me through things I thought I couldn't even ever live with. My experience was absolutely amazing. I was in the Mustang pod, October 25 (2023) - January 7 (2024). I was previously at a rehab in Minnesota and it was a unanimous decision that I needed more treatment. From the very first day I got there everyone was so welcoming, kind and accepting. I have severe allergies to egg and peanut so that also gives me really bad food anxiety. The nutritionist there was so so helpful and made sure I always had a fulfilling meal, from Breakfast to evening snack to the food I have to eat before breakfast (meds). Since I was in the substance abuse pod, we were able to go off site to NA/AA meetings. That helped me immensely. Kayla and Lisa the counselors for this pod are literally heaven sent. I love them so much and never made anything I talked about feel embarrassing or stupid. All the activities we had throughout the day like Gong, Equine, Music therapy, Tea making, Yoga, Gym, Nutrition, Adventure (S/O J.D), Art, Alumni, MMA (Love Vince, he's awesome.), and others I probably forgot to mention. For school, the teachers I had helped me a lot and made sure I was caught up and beyond where I needed to be in order to pass my sophomore year. (Ayeeee shout out Chris) There was quite a bit of drama, but nothing intolerable. The only thing I really disliked was how immature some of the staff was, making some people in my house (Dove) feel invalidated etc. That obviously isn't something that changed how my entire experience was but i was also one of those people they didn't 'like' for a little bit. I think they need to be more mindful when choosing who to hire. When we just have chill time in between activities, the CC's were so fun and easy to talk to. They all had such a huge impact on my stay. And the cooks!!! Holy crap. They kept me feeling included 3x a day every single day. When we had continental breakfast, they would make me egg free muffins, or the French toast bake egg free. And when it was something I just didn't like, I was able to eat a Sun butter and Jelly, Pasta, or cereal. I never went to bed or woke up hungry, unlike my other experience elsewhere. Overall it was such an eye opening experience and forever changed my life for the better. Also they did an amazing job administrating my Vivitrol injection monthly. One of the CC'S would go in there with me and hold my hand and talk to me. I'm sober to this day, (2 years coming up!!) Reading these reviews makes me upset, because in these programs you have to want to get better. You have to try and if you don't you're going to have a bad experience. It sucks at first, I would literally cry every week before, during, and after family therapy, but it's not because the therapist is bad. These 1 star reviews are solely personal. It has nothing to do with the staff. They're simply doing their job and making sure you are putting in the work to get better. Its not supposed to be fun. But if you put the hard stuff aside and focus on petting the horses, or making your tea bags when it's that time, you will find it to be tolerable. A good attitude = good outcomes.
ANYWAYS if an actual human is reading this tell everyone I said sup

After years of trying everything we could think of, my wife and I finally found Westport House. Our son was admitted quickly and efficiently, and, from that point on, our experience was incredible. After a couple of months we saw a noticeable change in our son. The staff was very timely in their correspondence with us and always treated us appropriately. During his time there, our son became actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, obtained employment, and began treating us and others with a level of respect we did not know he was capable of. He stayed there for 7 months, and I can say, it was very much worth every penny. Our son is still sober today and continues to attend the AA meetings that he went to during his time at Westport House. We cannot thank Westport House enough for giving us our son back. After 7 painful years, the change that he was able to make in his life is incredible, and it is all thanks to the great staff and services at Westport House.

MCCA mcdonough was my 4th rehab and probably my last chance to get sober. It was the best place for me to come to in the state I was in and honestly Jenni, Heather, and Michelle are THE best counselors I’ve ever met and worked with out of all the rehabs I’ve been to. They believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. And they all go above and beyond to help any client with whatever they can. They are the reason I have remained so connected to the program, as well as helping me get back on my feet and in sober living and building a community and network in recovery. I have seen some positive reviews here but I’ve also seen some negative, and it’s a shame those people didn’t have the experience I did because these counselors not only saved my life but they have changed it and me for the better. I don’t know where I would be right now without their help, guidance, and assistance, and I fully plan on doing everything in my power to stay clean so I can come back one day, share my story for their groups to show that recovery is possible, the program works, and if you allow these amazingly generous women to help you that you too can have a life beyond your wildest dreams.

I haven't touched any opiates other than the methadone. I'm 11 years I haven't had a drink in seven. when I got here I was on a high dose, after about a year I weaned myself down to 39 mg. Once I got down I realized how much of my chronic pain the meds were masking so I made the decision to stay on the 39 mg. Instead of either having to go on disability or be put back on painkillers again. The apt foundation bought me the time to save myself. At the beginning I was on a really high dose and that kind of gave me the room to pretend I was still kind of high and gave me time for my brain to situate itself again. it takes about ayear for your brain chemicals to sort and for you to start feeling normal emotions again so it got me through that time. the counselors and financial people are very kind and willing to work with you and the North Haven clinic is very clean. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for the start of my recovery journey. Turnbridge Westport has excellent, knowledgeable, and kind staff who really care about their patients. Their IOP and OP programs have been extremely helpful for me, and the one-on-one therapy sessions have also helped me tremendously. Furthermore, they have an awesome psychiatric nurse practitioner on staff who has really gotten to know me as a patient and didn’t just push pills on me. I would give them infinity stars if I could!!

Bethlehem, CT | In the woodlands of the Southwestern Connecticut city of Bethlehem is the behavioral health treatment facility, Wellspring. They serve women and girls who are experiencing struggles in life such as depression, anxiety, alcohol misuse, and other behavioral health concerns. You'll find a structured curriculum here that will help you find renewed fulf | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I was a resident at Wellspring from 2012-2013. I successfully graduated from high school with a 3.8 GPA because of the attention and support I received from the residential and school staff. While things were not perfect, I am so grateful for my time at Wellspring. I was in and out of residential programs for 2 years prior to Wellspring for self-harming and an eating disorder. I was extremely resistant to any treatment and support and will admit that I hated Wellspring for the first 6 months of being there. My resistance was caused by a lack of trust and insecurity. After being displaced from several programs beforehand, I was reluctant to start over, I was reaching the end of my rope. Healing is not easy and I will admit that I was put on 1-to-1, level drops, lots of restorative work, and even restricted from participating in programs. I was a teenager coming from a severally neglectful household, wanting to push every boundary I could and I began to heal at Wellspring

My daughter was here Jan - may 2014, her last semester of high school and Wellspring turned her life around, She was in the early stages of recovery from an eating disorder, depression, anxiety, and the truth came out there of being an alcoholic (hid that well). She lived in the adult house and was transported to Wellspring's Archbridge school. The therapists being tough on her and expression therapy helped her, along with being away from home in a very structured environment. Not only did she graduate high school, she graduated college with a 4.0 GPA. She had some slip ups along the way but nothing like she was in high school and remains sober. After being bullied in high school, home schooled by tutors, trying a boarding school in Missouri for 2 weeks and a alternative Long Island small high school, it was being at Wellspring that allowed my daughter to face head on her inner self, get off depression meds, be a college grad, we got our daughter back from spiraling out of control.

This is the testimony from someone that truly changed his life for the better thanks to Wellspring. Their caring staff pushes you to your highest potential through tough love. Being in a program with girls who have the same issues and are the same age helps you get adjusted and stable, plus a lot of the therapy is group oriented
