I went here at the end of June. There were some good things that happened and bad things. Not every nurse was nice, but they weren't cruel to me. They were very open to me being Wiccan and I felt accepted and safe. I had a couple of bad days, but all the patients were so nice. I had two roommates who were total sweeties and they helped me put things into perspective. The food was delicious and I highly recommend it, however you need to communicate exactly what you want to the kitchen staff. Most patients complained that they didn't get what they ordered, but it's easy to forget when they take your dinner order and the next day meals too. I loved to do coloring, but the nurses never seemed to have time to keep the colored pencils sharpened, nor would they allow us to sharpen them. Some of the nurses acted like you were wasting their time. With one TV and not tons of stuff to do, it felt like being back in the 90s only I couldn't go outside. The groups felt like Girl Scout camp. I would advise family members to call ahead to find out what personal items are allowed when visiting and the hospital doesn't offer conditioner for hair and they won't let you have one from home if it has the "cetearyl alcohol" in it which is stupid because the hand lotion they give you has the same ingredient!!

I came out of yale psych and straight to iop at griffin . Without the program i would have spiraled down further . It was better than being left on my own . I feel like there is more they can offer but would need more staff . For what they have and do offer it got me through a rough time AFTER i was treated by an inpatient hospital setting . In response to the other reviews i just want to say that yes if i came there to griffin iop without having been to yale or somewhere of the like I would probably feel the same as they do . Its not really for that stuff . If its that bad you gotta go in patient and the abuse gotta go to the proper place . Iop is really a post care thing in my opinion . They are not staffed for one on one very often . It IS a group setting mainly so be prepared . You get out what you put in also . I had a good experience here and i want to thank them all . I was in the mental health group . It helped me along tremendously . So long as I did the work at home . Its not gonna work for every situation . But its great for what it is .
