Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Financing your treatment can make treatment more accessible. You'll work with your care provider to set up payment plans, including interest rates and repayment timelines. Financing options vary widely and not all programs offer them, so be sure to get the full details before enrolling in treatment. If you have insurance or other benefits, financing may help you cover your remaining out of pocket expenses.

Levels of Care

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) provide robust support for clients who choose to remain in their own homes or who are reintegrating into their community following inpatient care. IOP treatment generally consists of a combination of individual, group, and family counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and evidence-based holistic therapies. Many intensive outpatient rehabs also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) for clients in alcohol and/or opioid recovery. Clients in IOP typically receive nine to 20 hours of treatment weekly.

Telehealth can provide multiple benefits for you as a patient. It offers increased access, convenience of care, and decreased costs. Due to these benefits, telehealth options are increasing and becoming more and more commonplace in New Mexico.

Treatments

Ranging from mild to severe, alcohol use disorder is a condition characterized by drinking to the point of causing harm or distress. Recovery from this alcohol addiction takes time and commitment. Alcohol rehab in New Mexico can provide the resources necessary to overcome alcoholism. Through detox, psychotherapy, and social supports, participants gain the skills they need to achieve and maintain sobriety.

Each drug rehab in New Mexico offers unique amenities and treatment methods. Common aspects of treatment include group and individual counseling, recreational therapy, medication management, and healthy living. Aftercare is often provided to prevent relapse.

For residents of New Mexico struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, substance abuse treatment is available on an inpatient and outpatient basis. These programs integrate evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions to help you reframe unhelpful thoughts, develop more healthy coping strategies, and give you the tools to sustain your recovery.

Specialized addiction treatment programs put a heavy focus on mental health, offering a supportive and structured environment to help you overcome co-occurring addictions and mental health conditions. Known as a dual diagnosis center, these drug rehab programs provide you with access to mental health therapists and counselors who specialize in treating mental health issues. These mental health professionals are trained to diagnose and treat mental co-occurring disorders effectively.

In New Mexico, specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs prioritize comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. These programs offer outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization options. Evidence-based therapies, like cognitive behavioral therapy and medication-assisted treatment, in combination with skills training and recovery support groups, provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to address both disorders simultaneously. By addressing co-occurring disorders simultaneously, and under the same roof, treatment outcomes are drastically improved.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

When you participate in cognitive behavioral therapy in New Mexico you can expect to follow a structured four step process. This involves identifying life challenges, identifying inaccurate thinking about those challenges, changing those thought patterns to healthy ones, and changing the resulting behaviors.

Weekly dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) sessions involve one on one meetings with your therapist. Each session lasts about an hour. You'll work on identifying and accepting your emotions while also learning how to manage them. Additionally, weekly 90 minute group DBT sessions give you the opportunity to develop and practice coping skills.

Group therapy sessions in New Mexico are structured and led by professional therapists with experience in leading groups. This ensures that the group discussions are focused and productive and that therapeutic goals are consistently addressed during each session.

I don't know how I would have gotten the help that I needed without Desert Mountain. I go voluntary without a court order. After many times of trying to quit alcohol, I finally had to do it and it wasn't a choice. The whole staff are friendly and caring. The counselors are always available for help and support. I enjoy every group meeting. Everyone participates in the group meetings and the meetings are fun and Interactive. I feel like we're family. We all support each other, understand each other, and get each other. We all relate in some way. I would not be this successful without this program.

Just go to a meeting... even a free IOP...this place only sets out to destroy you... not many who come through here have the tools needed to prevent relapse. As a matter a fact there is one "counseling" professional that seems to encourage it with her negative Napolian complex. There is little real concern for recovery... principals over personalities... but this place placed profits and media outlooks over the people they help. Dont let the free coffee and snacks fool you. If you haven't met your bottom go here Regina will make sure you find it... She is cruel and inconsiderate and will make you want to use if not worse end up on their shrine to lost addiction. Stay away... there are so many places to find true recovery.

Response from the owner
We’re truly sorry that this was your experience, and we take feedback—especially difficult feedback—seriously. Desert Mountain Healing IOP exists for one reason: to support recovery through compassionate, ethical, and evidence-based care. Any perception that we would intentionally harm, shame, or encourage relapse is deeply concerning to us and does not reflect our mission, policies, or the values of our clinical team.

Recovery is not linear, and accountability, boundaries, and honest clinical feedback are sometimes uncomfortable but are often necessary parts of the therapeutic process. That said, cruelty, humiliation, or disregard for a client’s well-being are not acceptable and are not practices we support. All of our licensed and supervised staff are expected to adhere to professional standards, ethics, and trauma-informed care.

We also want to be clear that Desert Mountain Healing IOP does not place profits or image over people. We serve many individuals regardless of ability to pay and work closely with courts, families, and community partners because we believe access to treatment saves lives.

Because of privacy laws, we cannot address specific claims or individuals publicly. However, we welcome direct communication so concerns can be reviewed appropriately. If you are open to it, we encourage you to contact our leadership team directly so we can better understand what occurred and address it responsibly.

We sincerely wish you safety, healing, and success in your recovery—wherever that journey continues.

Desert Mountain has really helped me with my addiction. I actually look forward to coming to IOP. All the staff are so inviting and it’s nice to relate to and share our store with others struggling. It’s like a new family you didn’t know you had. I was able to graduate IOP and now I’m in an aftercare out patient still with them focusing more on relapse prevention. I highly recommend this place!

Response from the owner

We’re incredibly proud of your progress and grateful for your trust in our team. Keep shining—you’re an inspiration!
