I came to avenues a broken soul. I didn’t love myself or anybody else. I did not want to live anymore. I have been to 5 star rehabs with private chefs and rooms that look like the four seasons and those places have nothing on avenues Cambridge. This place is truly amazing and that’s coming from a dope fien. There isn’t enough Gratitude words to express what this place did for me. The facility was clean warm and comfortable. The staff from the cafeteria crew to the nursing staff the RSS’ the therapists and group leaders everyone was so caring and made you feel safe. I am happy to say I am almost 6 months sober now and it’s all because I made the choice to surrender and get the help I needed. Not only did I complete the 30 day program I met some of the most amazing people I have ever met. Starting with the counselors and case managers, my counselor Ms Mo she is tough but the most helpful and supportive person and I needed your toughness and more importantly she knew I needed that as well and for that I thank her and Mrs bam omg she is the sweetest person ever and helped me everytime and always was there when I needed to talk which was a lot and for that thank you so much. I really late my time at the Chrysalis House. The classes were very helpful, they helped me learn how to live life when I got out of there. My counselor was awesome, she helped me a lot. The other staff members were professional and nice and also helped out a lot. They have a lot of donations for people that needed things coming into the place. Once I moved up in levels I got to go out on passes with family and friends. They helped me get on the right path and help me do the right thing when I left that is the first rehab I’ve ever graduated from is successfully completed it

I came here on 11/4/24 for treatment due to my substance and mental health. During my time here I have discovered alot about myself and the reason I was making unconscious decisions. The staff here has been very helpful and instrumental in my recovery. More especially Mr George, Mr Dooley, Mr Ronnie, Mr Joey, and Ms Vonda. The program is very hands on and a great resource for those willing to put in the work. It recently was a deciding factor on the judges decision on not incarcerating me. I highly recommend this program and pray for it’s continued success.

I love this VA Center. The staff are excellent! The Physician assigned to me is great. Whenever I have a medical problem, I get an appointment at a reasonable time and they listen to the symptoms I have and do a great job getting to the route cause. The amount of time it takes for labs, x-rays, and MRIs is phenomenal. Words cannot express how thankful I am for their service.

I literally owe my life to Hope’s Horizon and all of the amazing staff there. Getting sober is one of the hardest things to do. It’s a complete reset of your life. It gets a little less difficult each day, but it’s never easy. I couldn’t have done it without everyone there though. I definitely recommend Hopes Horizon if you’ve finally decided that you’re done living the same hell every day. They’ll help you every step of the way, but you have to want it and you have to work for it.

I have been with this program for over eight years. There are so many opportunities offered in the program now it is amazing! Patients learn tools through the comprehensive education of our core groups of drug education, relapse prevention, coping skills, dual diagnosis, life skills, mindfulness, etc. Patients also have the opportunities of learning how to use a computer, build their resumes, get tutoring for the GED, take the GED test, go to Driver’s Education, take college courses and the list is building everyday. The staff is a great team of hardworking individuals that put their hearts and souls into what they do.

Upon entering Dr. Tweedt’s office, I was greeted by a very pleasant receptionist, and asked to complete two short forms.
When I completed them, I handed them to a different, but equally personable young lady, with a great sense of humor. I was soon called by another quite capable and professional staff member who escorted me to my examination room. After checking my BP and oxygen level, she asked a few follow-up questions, to follow up on my last visit and told me that Dr. Tweedt would soon be in. When he entered we discussed my upcoming surgery and reminded me of two preliminary steps for me to take care of, to facilitate my upcoming procedure. As I was leaving the practice I was offered a very sweet goodbye. I enjoyed the entire appointment and plan to thank my neighbor who recommended Dr. Tweedt to me for my hernia.

Maryland has a unique history, including being home of the first African American US Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall. Unfortunately, the state also has a history of alcohol addiction, extending into the present day. In 2023, according to the CDC 14% of adults reported binge or heavy drinking, which may require alcohol treatment.
The treatment for alcohol dependence is a comprehensive, multi-phase approach to help individuals stop drinking, manage withdrawal, and rebuild a healthy lifestyle. It often begins with medical detox to manage withdrawal symptoms such as tremors, anxiety or seizures. This phase is closely monitored by healthcare professionals to ensure safety and comfort.
Once detox is complete in Maryland, the individual enters a structured treatment program that may be residential or outpatient, depending on clinical needs. Therapeutic interventions often include individual counseling and group therapy using cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and family involvement. These components work together to address the underlying emotional, psychological, and social factors contributing to alcohol use. Medication assisted treatment may also be introduced to reduce cravings and prevent relapse by using medications such as naltrexone, acamprosate, and disulfiram.
Support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous or AA are often encouraged as part of long-term recovery planning. Each treatment plan is personalized, with ongoing evaluations and adjustments based on progress. Long term success in alcohol recovery often depends on continued therapy, strong social support, and developing coping strategies to handle stress or triggers.
