I attended RCA for 34 days at Bracebridge Hall. It was the most awesome place for a rehab. I learnt about myself and my addiction. I attended rehab there November 15th – December 17th. The staff in it’s entirety, from counselling to doctors, counseling to dietary. There was not one thing they didn’t cover in my treatment. The place was the most beautiful place and the treatment was the best treatment out of anyone I have heard. From all the ladies and guys in nursing through the ladies and guys in the kitchen. I will never forget that place or what I learned there. I will always appreciate them for all they did for me. As well, my insurance did not cover my stay. I went through their program on scholarship. I could not thank them enough for what they did for me!!!

My experience at RCA bracebridge Hall is one that absolutely saved my life. It started with a nursing staff. My counselor was absolutely amazing and her name was Tammy. I honestly believe that she wasn’t my counselor, I would not be where I am today. I have to mention Chris grape, Lauren and Tom. Without these people my journey would have probably ended short..Beth was my case manager,she was absolutely the best at what she does.Mary who did Mat class is phenomenal.She was my inspiration in the area .she is amazing,she never missed an appointment, which is crazy knowing her workload.Elijah…WOW! I HAVE NO CLUE HOW SHE DOES WHAT SHE DOES.absolutely amazing.She is so calm,and always had/has the right answers at the right time that I need them. I am currently at sober living and the house manager, which name is Evan, deserves a Nobel Peace prize…no really. He has the patience of a god. I don’t know how he stays so calm in the situations that he’s put through. Even on vacation he still made sure the house was being ran up to par. If I missed anybody I’m so sorry everyone I dealt with it RCA was amazing I don’t have anything bad to say about anyone. Nothing but love for RCA and I would recommend this place to anyone who has addiction issues or mental health issues.all love. Oh and Miss Holly is absolutely amazing also she is the best for the kitchen staff. Laura at PHP has a way about her that only she can get away with and she is all love to everyone. Going to Tranquillity Woods was the best decisions I ever made and it probably saved my life. Between the clinicians and mental health professionals, I learned how to love myself again and my self worth. I was finally able to break free of my addiction to alcohol and start to rebuild my life which I didn t know was possible. I felt so hopeless going in. Everyone is so caring and goes out of their way for you. The place is gorgeous and comfortable. Food is amazing and I made lifelong friends.

Tranquility Woods was a perfect center to build a foundation for my recovery. 4 mental health sessions per week, group sessions, guest speakers and a strong community all played a huge part in learning the tools for a strong and sustainable recovery. The staff actually care about the clients and are very supportive and willing to help in any way they can. Where do I begin? When I came through the gate, I was broken (or as I’ve learned — bruised). I was immediately let out of my car and met by two of my peers who whooshed me to admissions. From that point on, all I felt was acceptance, belonging, and that I was in a judgement-free zone.In my mind, I was broken, unrepairable, and had issues that no one could fix. Boy was I wrong. Whether it was in individual sessions with Remi (My Clinician), or group therapy with Dan, Pat, Ashley, Tiffany, Alanna, Kourtney, Kimberly, and others — I was given the tools, grace, and ability to begin to fix myself.Plus, the clinicians aren’t here to just get a paycheck. They genuinely CARE about the patients, you can literally feel that in the sessions.At my clinician’s suggestion, I underwent EMDR treatment and literally felt chains being removed, and childhood trauma no longer had the power that it did on me before coming here.Insofar as the facilities, the station houses are comfy, the supporting staff are incredible, and the Fire every evening is the perfect place to unwind, and listen to your peers share their journey to what led them here to the COE.I could go on and on about how magical this place is, but Google doesn’t have the bandwidth for me to sing my praises. I feel like every single person in the fire service would benefit from coming here.ONWARD!

I had a phenomenal experience at the Sandstone care alumni event. LeJeffrey Monica was a phenomenal program co-ordinator. She made some insightful remarks. She was really sweet and understanding. She, even, stayed with me while I waited for my ride to come, which I thought was really sweet and i really appreciated it. I had alot of fun doing Pearlers while chit-chatting with other alumni. Sandstone care was a a huge part of my healing journey. I was so enthusiastic to be there again. It was nice to be surrounded by peers who understand mental health struggles as well as the challenges associated with navigating the pyschiatric healthcare system and balancing mental health treatment with school and/or a job. The 3.1 program is excellent. The house technicians are very friendly and helpful and the counselors are great at helping you identify and fix the problems you have with your addiction. The program is very hands on and a great resource for those willing to put in the work. It recently was a deciding factor on the judges decision on not incarcerating me. I highly recommend this program and pray for it’s continued success.

At a very low point in my life, I needed help. Not knowing where to turn, a neighbor suggested Alpas. I entered Alpas hopeless, deeply depressed and in pretty bad shape. I left the exact opposite. There were a few good people there like Mrs. Hope & Nurse Michelle & a few good counselors, but at CAM, everyone has been amazing! I was a broken, desperate, suicidal, hollow, empty shell of a heroin addicted woman, even after several failed stints in inpatient facilities. After a stay at MARC, I came to Kolmac for IOP and continuing care. 2 years, 9 months and 13 days later, I am the healthiest and happiest I’ve ever been. I owe my life to the staff at this wonderful facility. They work miracles here if you let them. I still do followup care here once a week and they always go above and beyond to help every patient here. This place saved my life. Detoxification treatment is a medically supervised process that safely manages the acute physical symptoms of withdrawal when someone stops using drugs or alcohol. In Maryland, a small state with over 3,000 miles of coastline, detox is usually the first stage in a comprehensive treatment plan, focusing on stabilizing the body while minimizing health risks such as seizures, dehydration or cardiac complications.
Depending on the substance used, withdrawal symptoms can range from mild discomfort to severe or life threatening conditions. Medical professionals may use medications to reduce cravings, prevent complications, and promote comfort. Commonly managed substances include opioids and alcohol as well as benzodiazepines, and stimulants.
Maryland residents may receive detox care in a hospital, residential treatment center, or designated detox facility. The length of stay varies but often ranges from a few days to a week, depending on the individual’s health, history of use, and the substances involved.
While detox alone does not address the psychological aspects of addiction, it creates a foundation for further treatment. Once stabilized, individuals are often transitioned into inpatient or intensive outpatient programs to address behavioral, emotional and social dimensions of substance use. Effective detox requires a multidisciplinary approach that includes nursing care, medical monitoring and emotional support to help individuals begin recovery safely and confidently.
