I went to Kent for an ADHD screening. Everywhere else was booked 6 months out, but Kent was able to start the process for me within 2 weeks. The whole process took under a month. I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for a smooth and timely process. Dr. Chris Ehle was to the point, kind, and welcoming. The ADHD tester I had, Max, made me feel welcome. He did great at explaining the tests and directions to me, and helped to calm my nerves as I was VERY nervous and not knowing what to expect. I think most of the negative reviews on here are from people who don’t understand the process of ADHD testing, how insurance is billed, or just unhappy they didn’t get the diagnosis (drugs) they wanted. I’d definitely go to this place again. The front desk lady was also very kind and FAXed my results over to my doctor and therapist super quickly. Thank you Kent!

I had a great experience here with my adult adhd assessment. It changed my life. While I was initially actually diagnosed with adhd when I was 11, since my parents chose not to medicate me or what not and hoped I’d “grow out” of it, my adhd went untreated and apparently undocumented. Started seeing a psychiatrist and since we couldn’t track down the documentation, I needed to be retested at 30 years old before we could try certain meds. Sure enough, the adhd combined results spoke for themself. I actually also have anxiety, ocd (pure O), and depression, too. My psychiatrist and I started the med trial and error period, and after 4 months consistently on my two meds (Vyvanse for adhd, Prozac for the others,) I can honestly say my quality of life has increased dramatically. I’m doing better at work and in my personal life. North Kent changed my life!! Also, I went in thinking “what if I don’t actually have adhd,” and I realized well, if I don’t, the test will at least answer that and give me other answers for what’s actually going on. No matter what, you’ll get answers and will have guidance for the next steps. Highly recommend this place.

Minimally helpful (mostly harmful) and they seem to have a stereotypical agency culture of "us against them" and become punishing and bitter if you struggle with treatment. It was impossible to have a collaborative relationship and my mental health improved tremendously after relying on myself and other resources for treatment instead. Things were great until I needed actual therapy and it's hard to recommend therapists that are less helpful than going it alone. Turned me off to therapy for good. I would have chosen self-help books instead of spending a second here if I knew what I know now.

I completed 8 days at their outpatient program back in March. The psychiatrist, Doctor McFarren, was absolutely amazing and I wish I could bring her into the outside world with me. She listened to how I was feeling and didn’t resort to putting me on some hard core addictive pill right away. The program was nice as well, they had different classes you could choose from so if something didn’t apply to you, you didn’t have to attend. They also had activity classes which were really nice. Group therapy was great and it was nice to be with other people who understood what you were going through. Micah (my group leader), was absolutely amazing. I’m so thankful for them and how comfortable they made group. The only complaint I have which I put on my outtake form was that the group leader Rachel, really should not be leading classes. She might do better with 1-1 or something like that but every class I had that she led, she was not interactive and acted like it was an inconvenience to be there. I even tried to walk out of one of the classes once I realized she was the instructor. One day when Micah was out, Rachel filled our class and we had multiple new people in group and multiple of them said that they were not coming back the next day. A couple girls and I talked to them and explained Rachel was not our normal counselor and Micah was great so they should come back the next day. Thankfully they did, but when I mentioned how much I was struggling with Rachel, over half of my group agreed and said they didn’t not want to take any of her classes and that they wished they knew who the instructor was before we signed up. Maybe for the future- adding the instructors names to the list would be helpful so we can choose accordingly :) Derrick at the front desk was absolutely amazing as well!! And so is Ethan!! So thankful for most of the team there that made a difficult time in my life, seem not so difficult. I made life time friends from this program and I will forever be thankful for that.

I have been going to this clinic on and off for over a decade( like a decade and a half to be honest.) I still don't like all the staff, but you're not going to every place you go. But for what's actually available in lansing this place Deserves more credit than it gets. Yeah, it might be a little understaffed at times, And with such an influx of people going there now. Sometimes there is it pretty annoying wait to dose but really we all know things could be way worse. By no means, am I saying that it's perfect, but i am saying that if u want it to work they will do everything to support you along the way. ◇Shout out◇ to ☆nurse-nikki☆ it really meant alot to me that u brought up doin the cows and told me my next up date..... Ive really been going through it lately and it was just the right amount of kindness and support i needed to hear the other day so thank you!!please dont stop hasling me about goin up and having my stupid box!!! Our family had a big scare this week when my 21 month old daughter had come in contact with and had possibly been bitten by a bat, I was fortunate enough to capture the bat. I contacted the Barry-Eaton health department and they were extremely helpful, I was able to deliver the bat to Gail within the hour and she personally transported the bat to the lab, she made no promises but said she would do what she could to expedite the process considering the circumstances...about 24 hours later Jen from the lab called to report that the test was negative. We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, whether the news would have been good or bad, you did your duty and took care of the people, well done, thank you for giving us faith in the system and the knowledge that our local government is competant and cares about it's citizens.

I have been in the child and adolescent unit 3 times now. The two most recent times nurses have tried to get a blood sample against my will MANY times, and when I asked why they needed it, they avoided the question. The reason why I refused was due to the fact I am very sensitive to most pain and I cannot handle needles. A nurse even said she'd forcibly restrain me if I didn't consent to having my blood drawn. The only reason Im giving this 2 stars is because of the good memories I have made with other patients and a tech by the name of Rigo.

I went to Westlund for a few years after being hospitalized around 17. Had a great counselor named Carrie for about a year but had to switch to a new one after she accepted a job elsewhere. From there I began to see Delilah sporadically, she was nice but not very effective. Young and inexperienced, went by the books a lot. After not clicking with her and needing treatment for trauma regarding recovery from drug problems I was set up with Nicole S. She and I initially clicked but as we progressed with our sessions I felt her treatment method was not very conducive to my needs. I feel like overall she missed whatever points I was trying to convey about my thought/feeling process and how it affected me and my ability to make the correct decisions in life. She asked questions that I felt were off-base, kind of digging in the wrong direction. Again, young and maybe lacking in real life experience a little. She also had a very subtle snide/smug air about her that I tried not to notice and give the benefit of the doubt to until towards the end of our sessions when it fully manifested. I had decided to end our sessions indefinitely to see how I would do without therapy as I felt my last session with Nicole was not great, plus I was doing all right on my own anyway. I was told by various staff that I would have 90 days from my last session to decide before they closed my case and I’d have to do the intake process over again. I had called and confirmed this with the front office, and then received a call from Nicole herself to confirm that she would call me again in another month to check in, and that after two calls if I didn’t want to come back she would close the case. The whole conversation sounded like it came through gritted teeth on her end, like she was irritated with me which I don’t think was necessary. Well, just about a month later (mind you I hadn’t received another call from her yet) I went through an extremely traumatic experience and knew I needed to start up therapy again right away. When I called Westlund and spoke to the front office they told me my case had already been closed without my knowledge and even after having them speak to whoever was in charge, nothing could be done and I’d have to file an intake form and start all over again. It was extremely distressing to me that my case was closed without my consent and I suspect that it was done on purpose. And if so, that’s petty. You are health professionals dealing with people that have altered mental states, so that comes off as very insensitive and inconsiderate, and overall unprofessional. In reality it was probably a blessing in disguise as I’m seeing a wonderful therapist now and have made tangible progress. Although more expensive, this experience really taught me that you get what you pay for! If you can afford it, I highly reccomend that anyone in the Saginaw area seek psychological services elsewhere.

Our son is on the spectrum and went from being bullied and failing public high school to being supported and nurtured while thriving academically when he started at Glen Oaks. All the teachers and supporting staff are experts at what they do and will help your student learn no matter what the challenges. Having courteous and professional office staff is critical for a psychologist's office for several reasons: Ist Impressions Matter: Initial Contact**: The office staff often represents the first point of contact for patients. Can't comment on the doctors because I never made it in. I called and made an appointment. It was scheduled for 2 weeks out and was told to call back once I fill out the info that they will email to me. I repeated my email twice, even using military alphabet codes to make sure she had it. I never got the email so I called back. Once I filled it the paperwork I realized they had my appt date wrong. They had that it was scheduled over a month out. I emailed to ask about this and she said I knew it was that date and I even said it. I told her I never said what she has down I repeated the date I was told. I ended up cancelling because I'm not going to wait to see someone my doctor didn't refer me to (she was booked so I scheduled with another doctor).

A family member was treated here. I went and visited during visitation hours. The staff I met were very kind. He had said the same. He got help not only with present recovery but tools to help him stay sober. They also helped him with his next steps like getting into a sober living. They inspired him to one day become a sponsor himself. He enjoys most of the company he had there. I enjoyed that Monday through Friday he would get his own personal phone for twenty minutes to make calls and texts from. It allowed me to send him photos to keep him involved. When I couldn't make a visitation they tried their best to accommodate and do a brief video visit instead. All around they greatly cared for him presently and his future. They even helped with transportation to the sober living. The only negatives were that sometimes you don't always get a very good roommate and theft happens. Plus the food wasn't always great he said, but you can't please everyone all the time with every meal when you get that many people together. I would suggest having more options during meal times though, possibly a microwave and some ramen or something for those who don't like whatever is served. Overall this place really helped him grow. I can't wait to see what the rest of his future brings for him and our family.

This is where I found my recovery. Long-term recovery. It’s where I found people that loved me during a time that I found myself to be unlovable. They have given me tools to keep myself safe and to find more people that have loved me until I learned how to love myself. Since then, I haven’t given up on me yet. Thank you all. Special thanks to Derek Brown. You are a man of great integrity who has always gone the extra mile for your clients and those of us who belong to communities that have quieter voices than most.
