It is very safe, warm, and friendly. The caseworkers can help immensely with trying to get you stable, both mentally and physically. They have employment services to help get a person working. Therapist are a guide like a GPS, but I feel like too many people expect them to take the wheel and just fix their problems for them. I had a great experience and have been able to get myself not only in college but running again and I would feel comfortable going back if need be. But I can say with total confidence that Easterseals has done an amazing job helping my daughters and myself cope and adapt in a healthy way to live successfully in todays world. I can’t imagine being a teenager now a days, and as a parent, I would do anything to help my girls get through these tough years. Colleen has done a wonderful job helping us communicate even if it’s uncomfortable for both of us. She helped save my beautiful daughter from going into a very dark place. I see some do not share the same experiences we have with Easterseals, but I’ve been in and out with my girls over the years, and between the staff, docs, and therapists, they have all done an amazing job, considering what they too, have to deal with day in and day out. At times my girls had to change therapists in the middle of treatment, but they did an alright job matching them with someone similar. And if they are ready and willing to change, and it’s explained that stuff like this happens, we got through it. It’s hard to keep constant staff on hand all the time, so I understood. My own experience at Easterseals has only been since early June 2025, but I must express that they do have some wonderful staff here and they've been mostly pleasant and quite helpful in addressing my needs and concerns. My caseworker's been very positive and actually quite responsive when it comes to communication, which truly makes all the difference for me, personally. I feel she genuinely cares. My psychiatrist and therapist also have been great in similar ways. I can't say enough good things about these amazing women! Sure, front end staff seem off or a bit grumpy or just burned out sometimes, but, honestly I can't blame them - I wouldn't be able to deal with the job well myself! It'd annoy the hell out of me dealing with so many people all day. We all get tired of work at times, we're all only human ya know. (I only mentioned this because of the negatory comments I read regarding the initial staff). Lastly, their transportation guys are also awesome! I think what it all comes down to is your own personal attitude, tolerance, and the ability to have compassion and understanding from other perspectives in these type of places when it comes to staff interactions and services in general. I use the Genoa pharmacy there as well, and they've always been great. You get what you give in life or what you put into things folks. It's also good to remember we can't truly control anything outside of ourselves, only what's within us. But, I digress - to each their own. I have had a lot of case managers, and they have all been great. One case manager that stands out and goes beyond is Treazure Wright. I don't live Pontiac and the drive is very long. Biomed is one of the best clinics in the Metro Detroit area. They always welcome everyone and will not judge you at your current status in life. Unfortunately they no longer except private insurance. They do except Medicaid. Its $80 or $100 a week cash. There is also a block grant you ask abou through access, and Biomed. You are requires to see your counselor once a month, either in-person or through a phone session. Groups and didactics can be done either in-person or through a zoom meeting. Biomed is open from 5 am to 1 pm. Biomed offers takehomes to patients who follow the rules. If your interested in becoming a patient, please call and set up an intake. The process only takes around 1 to 3 hours to complete. After you finish the intake process you get your first dose that day. I tried riding to and from the gym/ physical therapy building where the business offices and printing press for the magazine journal. It was too hard going up hill but a breeze coming back down to the bridge . Then I had to get off and push it up to the treatment center for women. I really enjoyed my time at this place. However all good times have to end and mine ended .
