Where do I start...Checked into Burkwood on 09/25/2023 a shell of the person i once was for my 8th attempt at treatment a hopeless dope addict and the man who left 42 days later was almost unrecognizable as the same person. I am going to keep this short and to the point. This place saved my life! To anyone who has been to treatment before and failed to stay sober after I have an easy recipe for success i will lay out for you and if it worked for me it can work for anyone and here it is. Call burkwood make a plan, show up, Surrender(#1 biggest thing you have to do) and by that i mean just give in to the process and listen to what they are saying even when you want to question why just do what they are telling you they are not doing what their doing for any other reason then it flipping works, next is get involved and share with your peers and last but not least don't leave till they tell you your ready to and follow their recommendations its just that easy! The food at burkwood was amazing the staff was amazing and the accommodations overall were also amazing! I’ve had a very good experience with Valhalla Place in Woodbury. One time the building had water damage and I had to wait like 2-3 hours at another clinic to get dosed. But that was a freak thing.
Valhalla has saved my life. I’ve never had an issue there that wasn’t my own doing.
Been coming for like 12 years and I just do not see any of the negatives that people have listed. It’s been only positive for me when I’m on the sober track. I’ve been clean for over 500 days now.

I learned more about myself at the shore than I have in my last 4 inpatient treatments. The combination of drug and alcohol treatment with mental health treatment was very helpful. I'd recommend this place for anyone looking for a great n new experience with treatment. They treated us like adults. This facility and their program is amazing and saved my life. I have been in this program 4 times I believe. This is not because the program was ineffective but because I was battling a lifetime of issues. The staff is like family to me, they genuinely care and they played a huge role in changing my life. I also participated in their aftercare programs PHP/ partial hospitalization program and the step down program from that was the AMHOP/ adult mental health outpatient program. These were also very effective and a key factor in my rehabilitation. After care is so important, although this was stressed when I was completing my treatment plan I did not take advantage of these services the first few times I completed the inpatient program. However after completing both after care programs, I understood the importance and have been able to maintain my mental health and sobriety. Most everyone dealing with addiction knows 9.8/10, we are self medicating dealing with severe underlying mental health issues. So addressing both issues at the same time was definitely what the missing piece to the puzzle. I highly recommend Mercy Hospital Unity Campus! Oh I didn’t mention the food and beds, way better than any other facility I have been to! I could go on and on about the many positive attributes, but I won’t. The staff is so warm and welcoming, you will feel right at home! I could go on and on about the many positive attributes, but I won’t. Definitely worth investing your time, you will NOT regret your decision to give it a try!

Went in a mess 16 beers a day extremely thirsty so I drank more beer. I wasn't passing water because my liver was so scarred and imflamed. Thought I would putz and brought projects but they allow nothing inside. Hardly books either because of hiding drugs.
It wasn't long before I was aprt of a group of zombies milling about. Having to go get blood pressure checks etc. I wanted to be alone and meditate. Easy to get used to this carefree life. Most take advantage all agreeable to the BS to stay longer. The walls started to close in and I left after 3 days. I only have GOD to thank. But I needed to know I could not drink and live. Very hard but now I'm not afraid and I don't want so much. You have to decide.. I jonesd for cigarettes more than beer.

I had my first visit yesterday. The doctor was extremely thorough with the exam, asking questions about things I have long forgotten. He and the rest of the staff were very polite and patient. They even had a bit of a sense of humor. I've had some unpleasant experiences at other VA clinics/hospitals in the past so I was very pleased with them.

Not a fan of hospitals, I made a visit to a cousin of mine who just had surgery. I walked into her room and the first thing that hit me was the clean smell. Her bedding was so clean and crisp and inviting I decided any future surgeries for me will be a FV Lakes. Not a dust bunny in site and I had no fear of using the restroom. I have fought my mental health since I was a teen. (51 now)
I was in United Hospital for a few weeks after being off my meds and having some "issues". After the hospital I came here for 90 days of intensive treatment. It has literally changed my life and outlook ON life more than I could've ever imagined. The staff and the other residents have been amazing. I got my meds all lined up and have been taking them religiously. The groups and the actual treatment has helped me enormously to the point that friends I had lost because of WHO I had become with my bipolar flaring up have come back and are so supportive. I will never forget what Maghakian Place has done for me and there's still two months to go. If you need help, trust me....it's out there. Don't be afraid to WIN the battle you've been fighting!!!!! Been going here since they opened, Never have I ever had any issues. They treat people with respect. I recently got my boyfriend to switch over. He seems to be more stable and he has had far less migraines since changing clinics. Also we like that there are not people just hanging out there. Like we have seen at other clinics sometimes.

I had a blood clot in my leg. ER was amazing!!! Got great care in ER. From the doctors 2 the nurses especially Barry. When I got 2 my room upstairs, the staff on the 10th floor was awesome!!!! Shout out 2; Nurse Lee, Whitney, Dave, Julie & all the PCA's. You all made me feel safe & well takin care for. If I missed any of u u know who u r. Love u all....thank you all.

Special thanks to the ICU and Radiology team who saved my life on May 14, 2025.
On May 13 I visited the Emergency for rectal bleeding and had the first procedure in the evening. The doctors and nurses were very caring.
The bleeding did not stop and at noon May 14, I fell into a critical health condition while receiving enema as a preparation for another procedure and was immediately rushed to ICU and then the Radiology room for the second procedure. I still remember my fingers turned white, my eyes blurred, my chest was heavy like bearing a mountain on it, and my mouth opened and grasped for oxygen. Looking up the ceiling while they transferred me between rooms, I thought I was going to die. I was not scared but I knew I was not ready to goodbye this life at 42. When I woke up, the doctors and nurses said I did great and I knew I was saved. I must say that all the staff here were very professional and caring. You know you are in good hands while being here. Thanks.

I have seen April Lund here for many years and I highly recommend her! She takes the time to listen to you and highly involves you in your treatment plan. She always knows my medical history and takes the time to really listen. The front desk staff and nurses are fantastic too!
My only complaint is that this clinic can be tricky to find and wish there were more clear instructions for in person visits. I would recommend going a few minutes early to find parking and get to the office.

I had a nurse who kinda rushed me into the shower and stepped over my broken leg and walked by it quickly barely missing it a few times which made my stomach drop and she made me feel rushed before and in the shower, given it was very busy. I feel like when someone has broken ribs shoulder and knee fractures it may not be wise to make them feel rushed. However that experience was brief and all in all she was nice.
I only got to spend the last portion of my 3 day stay with a nurse named Tammy who was absolutely awesome. She was polite, she knew how to really interact and make me feel calm and safe. I had to ask a number of questions multiple times due to the meds and all the other information I've been trying to remember and sort out in my brain. She explained things in a way i could understand better and made me feel comfortable about leaving. Great personality. She seems to be one of those people who truly cares about her work and patients. She had alot of knowledge and responded to my nurse buzz in a timely manner.
Mixed feelings about the stay but she made it feel alot better!

Brought my mom in to see ER Doctor Taj Melson, he was amazing and he was the only doctor that could help her. Other clinics and ER didn’t know how to help her situation. Doctor Melson and the nurses that worked with him were very caring and treated her with respect, and she is finally healing thanks to Dr. Melson.
