This place I would highly recommend!!! The staff and everyone in this place is absolutely amazing!!! They truly care and want to help. Quality care by small town caring staff. If you don't have a primary get one. In response to the self-claimed guide, listening to the USD Sanford doctors in Sioux Falls needs to be done with discretion. USD Sanford in Sioux Falls sufferers from undue arrogance causing misdiagnosis. As an example I have to have heartburn even though I can tell I don't. My sinus problems are due to overuse of antihistamines even though they weren't around in the 50s.

As with most mental health facilities, some of the practitioners are cold and uncaring while others pour their hearts into their work. One significant pro is that the rooms are private. Just be aware that the staff will constantly be checking on you if you are in your room alone. Sometimes this disrupts sleep and they will not care about leaving your door open and the light shining in.
If you are coming here due to legal reasons or need to just escape the traumas of modern living, I do think that a few weeks stay has the potential to heal much.
Doing the 90 day program, though, of course, is labor intensive and exhausting.
The rules and regulations of the Eleva Care handbook are restrictive because they've had people violate minute rules and minutiae and get away with inappropriate behavior.
Overall, staff really helped me get my head on straight and I am very grateful to have gotten back in touch with my true self and connect with inner values that I hold.
If you're having severe and persistent mental illness, I do recommend this treatment facility. I found the experience of being here for a sustained length of time to be very humanizing.

Was there about 20 years ago it was the best decision I made I wish I could go back cuz I could use it now. Met a lot of good people through that program. We all go through tough times in life in a place like this really helps you just got to give it a chance. Don't give up and get help.

Many of the people posting negative comments are not complaining about Avera, they are complaining about a particular doctor. The trick here, as it is in every clinic in the country, is getting a doctor (what we used to call a GP I guess) that's right for you. I have Dr. Lilgaroth, she is great, so I gave 5 stars. My wife has had bad experiences in the past with so many male drs (the old "you're a woman & I'm both a man AND a doctor, so I'm gonna ignore what you say") that she finally demanded a female doctor, and that happened to work out great for her. Gender may not have been the reason, she may just have got a great dr-- the important thing is, my wife was comfortable with her. When her female dr retired, she ended up with a male dr (Dr Gunderson, I believe?) and she says he is great. Ya just gotta shop around and get a doc that is a fit for you-- that is true of any clinic, not just Avera. But I've also had pretty much all positive experiences with other parts of the clinic-- reception, labs, nurses, Avera hospitals, even the money people. (Btw, I'm not a nice guy or a pollyanna; I am by nature an extremely demanding pain in the, uh, rear.)

Kinsely was the greatest person over there I have ever talked to in 120 hours of hell. She’s by far the best therapist. I think she needs a pay raise. I am giving this review off an individuals basis , alone. Dr.Gerber earns a review from me because he is most certainly not a kickback doctor , and in this world that is almost non existent. He was extremely considerate thorough efficient as well as the appropriate amount of concern and good reasoning and I completely trust him . He advised against scans that would cause radiation for my daughter if it was not completely necessary, he comforted my daughter when two separate nurses had tried multiple times unsuccessfully to draw blood, but most importantly He did not try to push or pursuade us in any way , and he backed us up when we went through different stages of trying to figure out what treatment we wanted. I feel like he did everything he could to reassure us but also do his job efficiently. He was very compassioate, thorough and Thought out.

My wife had gone in for a pregnancy stress test to see how our son was doing with contractions for being over due date. They reacted immediately when drops in heart rate occurred and by the the end of 6 hours in the were performing a C-section and brought our beautiful baby boy to us safe and sound.
Nurses are extremely friendly and always there to help and answer all questions without making us feel dumb for asking.
I don't know about every other review, especially relating to pregnancies as the Maternity department was absolutely fantastic, we are so thankful and thank God that our team was here for us the way they were.

I looked for their help, and it's precisely what they have done. They have helped me in ways that I have never been helped before. I have followed their plan without any trouble. Their bubble packs for my meds are a blessing because of my memory disability. The staff, therapists, and psychiatrists are kind, patient, understanding, considerate, and flexible. I personally had a great experience. I was seeing Amber Myers. My first visit was uncertainty; I didn’t have any idea if this woman could provide the care I needed. Then a year later, I learned quite a bit about myself. Amber, pays attention to her patients. She actively listens. Instead of making suggestions, she allows her patients to self-reflect by using questions that make you think, rather than enforcing an idea. Sort of like planting a seed. Despite my care with physiatrist, over at Avera behavioral healths main facility, I actually got results. I improved through therapeutic techniques, rather than consuming medication. I can say that the practice at Avera behavioral health psychiatry is taboo. One little statement could cost you a prescription that you actually need and lead to you being misdiagnosed for something else. This happened to me. One doctor by the name of Losee, said to me, “My husband has adhd and he doesn’t need medication. So why do you?” This baffled me for the longest time. I was taken off my prescription for adhd, because I made a subtle statement about being angry at how my life was unfolding, about two years ago. She kept telling me if I went to get labs done (blood testing) she would provide my medication again. It never happened. So I gave up and went over to Avera behavioral healths smaller clinic, where they had licensed therapists such as Amber. And I was happy.
