Gloversville, NY | The Family Counseling Center is located in Gloversville, New York. They offer outpatient counseling and treatment services for substance abuse and addiction. They also tackle underlying causes of addiction like trauma and domestic violence. It’s on the border of the suburbs with plenty of parking. Holistic Healing for Children and Families This c | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I’m leaving five stars due to the nurse, Mary Kay, Seneca, who works upfront, and my psychiatrist Fran. Mary Kay is very helpful with solving issues and always calls back to give you an update. Seneca had advocated for me through a very difficult situation that I was going through with a psychiatrist at the family counseling center. My new psychiatrist Fran is a fresh of breath air from who I’ve dealt with there in the 6 years. She understood the situation that occurred and did not judge me, instead, she asked me what happened and listened to me and made her own judgment call.

I have to say every time I call the Family counseling center, I have to say that Seneca( I hope I’m spelling her name right) has always advocated for me. She has helped me in many different situations and has resolved issues that were taking a long time when I would speak to others. She’s very caring, takes the time to really listen, and makes sure to do everything in her power to resolve an issue or get the patient a call back. I have to say that she is one of the most genuine ladies that work at the front desk and I appreciate everything she has done for me in the past and going forward! You can honestly tell she truly loves her job and helping those in need!!!!!

Amsterdam, NY | Saint Jude Retreat is a non-treatment aspect in battling substance use located in Amsterdam, New York. It’s a holistic program that’s based on healing your mind, body, and soul. With these retreats, you’re exploring your addictions, but you also get the opportunity to engage in outdoors activities such as biking, walking, fishing, and much mo | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I love The St Jude Retreat. I attended the Mountain location that was in Wells, NY-
I wouldn’t trade what I was taught for anything. It is called The Freedom Model for a reason. ❤️❤️❤️Their program uses science and a genuine look at life regarding both what worked and what didn’t about all of the choices I made. I don’t believe daily declarations that we are “powerless” offer much growth like other modalities. I’m in long term recovery for 8+ yrs and I’m not anonymous, nor ashamed or regretful bc I can own every choice. It was a combo of St Jude’s and Landmark courses combined.
I highly recommend if you or someone you know, has frequent relapses and 12 step places haven’t made a lasting impact, or if you’re someone who appreciates the rational and science behind our behaviors. I will say, I did my assignments , procrastinated at some, but I did them. I didn’t have anything to lose and I went in there disbelieving anything could have me believe that I could live happy without CM. I didn’t want to go at all lol! Back then it took hell and high water to get me on a plane, (I missed flight on more than 1 occasion) but Im so grateful I did eventually get on the flight and make it there.
Best advice from Rit Santelli… “Don’t give up what you want most, for what you want in the moment”- I had triggers when I got home to Tx back then, but I knew what was happening and what I wanted most mattered more.
It’s 2026 I just wanted to update my review above and state still in recovery and rocking it. Freedom 100% Those Axioms are present for me on a day to day basis. Choose 🦋

After years of bouncing around the recovery world, I realized that I had nothing from which to recover! My problems were with my erroneous thinking and the behavior that resulted from the thinking. I am free now and always have been to make the decisions that shape my life. My experience at St Jude was transformative.

If you are looking for a place to change the way you think, the actions you take and your relationship with drugs or alcohol than this is the place for you. The opposite of a traditional rehab experience, St Jude’s and it’s Freedom Model start with a simple premise- there is nothing inherently wrong with you. No illness or disease, no life long problem that will hang over you till the day you die, but rather a simple misunderstanding- that all the benefits you have perceived from drinking or drugging are illusionary. They are in your mind and they proceed to unpack all the myths associated with drinking or drugging and boil it do to some simple facts- one, you have free will and are actively choosing to drink. Two you have an autonomous mind that only you control and can be taught that these perceived benefits you have associated with drinking are simply not true. And third, that you drink or drug because you BELIEVE it is making you happy and in reality it does not, at least not in the way you are drinking or drugging now- or else why are you reading this? Once they teach you this and unshackle you from all the recovery BS you will have a revelation- that this is all in your control and that if you want to change you always can. It’s that simple. The combination of one on one instruction and fact and science based statistics will time and time again reinforce this critical concept. I can honestly say this changed my life. Not just my unhealthy relationship with drinking- but all aspects of my life. It left me a better educated person and as a result a better husband, father, worker and person. In short it left me a better global citizen with an awareness of why I do what I do and the ability to modify my behaviors if I honestly want to.
The staff is nothing short of awesome. From the meals (thanks Dave, who by the way is a trained gourmet chef) to the accommodations, to the instructors, you immediately feel like you are part of the family, living in a home with great people in a warm and supportive environment that allows you to comfortably sort yourself out. They are right to call it a retreat, not a rehab, because it is more about teaching you how to live and be a better human than about convincing you you are weak and powerless. I have been home for a month now and have been in numerous social settings with people drinking and have not once felt compelled to drink. I simply choose not to at this point. And that’s the best part- there is no illusion that you can never drink again (but studies show about 50% of the people choose not to) but once they teach you the facts about drinking you are empowered to intelligently choose what you want to do.
I want to thank everyone there from Mark, Michelle, Steve (the authors and instructors) to everyone else who helped me during my stay. I can’t say enough great things about this experience. It was nothing short of life changing!
You can do this if you want to change and the Freedom Model is the key to a healthier, happier, and more balanced life- I promise you that.

Methadone maintenance is the gold standard for opiate addiction for a reason. This stuff works, in addition I’ll add my counselor Katie is a straight up G. She truly cares about her clients. The rest of the admin staff is lovely as well. Our dosing nurses are fast and friendly. The only negative is the head nurse zaria or whatever, she leaves ALOT to be desired to say the least. How she is a medical professional at all is honestly a mystery.

I use to come here for years and then I moved and have been guest dosing - my husband and I - and there’s no clinic available in the area not even Kingston.
My home clinics still Binghamton - I emailed and emailed and no response a whenever i go in their busy. They know me,
They were both my counselors before I left.
I just need to have my insurance cover bc it’s expensive and taking from my kids and I cannot keep borrowing. Please 🙏 just let us be patients there or help us set up a can every day 4 hours a day to get to Binghamton. But doing that will affect me working. Idk im just fed up and I wish I wasn’t on the dose I am or I’d just stop.
Yet id still give 5 stars bc everyone is just really sweet.

Healing Springs is a welcoming recovery community resource center serving those in recovery, substance users seeking recovery, and family dealing with loved ones with substance-use problems and issues.
The center offers a plethora of programs for those in recovery including 12-steps (AA, NA, MA, OA, CODA), All Recovery, and Refuge Recovery. It also offers different guided activities including Recovery Writing, painting, and jewelry making. Community activities include gardening, Saturday coffee and chat, fishing, and bowling.
The center is staffed by both volunteers (many of whom are in recovery) and professional Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPAs). Some of the Center's CRPAs specialize in areas of family, veterans, incarceration, and hospitalization.

The Center is NOT a rehab, however it does provide information to those seeking rehab facilities.

Dedicated programs for young adults, postpartum women, persons living with HIV/AIDS, and per | Treatments Programs Payment Options | *Important* u have to bring ur own 30 day supply of your medications.
I'll start with one of the most important things for me: I'm a transgender man who was treated with dignity and respect by the staff and clients alike. Rehab reviews never talk about what places are safe for us so just wanted to say that.
Most of the staff rly cares. Place is clean. Food is mid. Beds are mid. But u know what? I knew where I was going to sleep that night, I knew I was safe. I knew I had 3 hot meals a day that I didn't have to search, beg for, or steal. I knew I could take a shower every day, even twice if I wanted. Laundry. Etc.
The point of this center is to get u away from your life for 30 days to let ur brain and body recover from the hell you've been living in due to addiction.
This is a hospital setting so there's tons of weird and frankly ridiculous rules like "no exercising" (u can power walk around the court yard but thats it) bc it's some kind of liability to the hospital?? Idk just do push ups in ur room w the door closed. Most addicts know how to work around rules and manipulate a system so just make the best of it. But fr it's insane to see and hear ppl complain about this place as if it's not a respite from being sick tired miserable. The ppl who complained the most I chalked it up to their life hasn't gotten bad enough yet to be truly ready for recovery. They don't seem to understand that the opportunity to be here is a blessing that ppl in many states will never have the chance to get. The NY healthcare system is better than any other state I've lived in. There are many ppl in other places who will never have the opportunity to go to rehab.
I had a one day relapse a month after I left and now have 1 year and 11 months sober. Beginning my recovery journey here was exactly what I needed to separate my mind and body from the hell I was in.
Thank u to the staff from Nov 2023.
Nicole is the reason I decided to stay sober when I left. I had given up hope of staying sober during my stay but she had a long talk with me the night before I left that really changed my life.

I can’t even express how much I love this place! I have been going to therapy for a very long time and have never been to one where both therapist and Psychiatrist go out of their way for true emergencies. Carolyn is my therapist for and the first time EVER since I have been in therapy she has offered/ allowing me to call her the day before and day after for a brief phone appointment (which isn’t usually allowed) because I am pressing criminal charges against my brother who rapped me throughout my whole childhood. From the child victims act passing my statues of limitations are now lifted. I was on the brink of suicide and I have to say from both her and Dr Dilullo I have to thank for still being here to even write this review. Dr Dilullo is absolutely amazing as well. He knows his stuff and will go out of his way for severe emergencies which is sometimes why he runs late once 1:30/2 pm hits so if you don’t want to wait I suggest making an early appointment. Not many people understand why the wait is long for him and get mad until they are one of those people. He will fit a patient to make sure they are safe. People who work in mental health are manufacturers of hope and boy these 2 manufacture extremely high quality of hope. 💝 Thank you for saving my life and helping me fight through these hard times.

Staff members are fluent in English and Spanish. Medicare and Medicaid are accepted, and the program is accredited by The Joint Commission. Four Winds Saratoga is a psychiatric hospital and dual diagno | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I went here in September-October 2025 for a suicide attempt. This place saved my life, i met some amazing friends im still in contact with. The reason this place isn’t getting 5 stars, is because of the staff. The staff are probably some of the nastiest people ive met. They are so incredibly rude to the kids and are so sassy. I got in trouble for “eating ice cream the wrong way” i’m sorry but how does a 12 year old eat ice cream the wrong way? They would also say that i’m “too happy” i just got on meds and i was relieved to feel like a normal kid so yes im gonna be happy. There were many other stupid reasons i got yelled at in there but im not gonna go into extreme detail. Overall it was a good experience besides the staff, i really enjoyed it there. I liked how we got the tablets to play games or watch movies. I would recommend but they just need to give the staff an attitude adjustment.

Amazing place. They helped my autistic child 10+ years ago and my other child in 2026. I can't say enough about the caring and compassionate staff. A lot of these poor reviews must be either by disgruntled adults or parents who do not understand the intake process. Maybe there was a bad apple or two but if so I never met them and neither did my children who had zero complaints (accept lack of electronics and personal items) and stayed 30 days each. This hospital can't take everyone there just isn't enough room. :(

I was inpatient for about 10 days in late may/early june 2025, for a plethora of issues. I was placed in Polaris, and this is different for everyone so I don't want to sway anyone's opinion but I genuinely had a good experience. Most of the staff was pretty nice. For my needs at the time, treatment did help. I was luckily in the unit with other patients who were really sweet, welcoming, and friendly which made my experience so much better. My therapist during my stay was absolutely wonderful, and she helped me understand why I was acting out the way I was. The only downsides to my stay was being woken up at the crack of dawn for vitals and meds, but honestly I can't complain too much about that, and I'm not sure whether it was just me, but my room was FREEZING. I quite literally had four blankets at one point I believe.
My advice to younger adolescents coming in is to bring books, a journal/sketchbook/both, as I personally had a bit of downtime. When I was there, they did not allow any personal comfort items like a baby blanket or stuffed animals so just be aware you'll likely be without that for a bit. Also, you may recieve a tablet that has music, movies, and games on it usually after school time, so you can keep occupied with that too, but it does get taken away after lights out.

I got a DUI out of state and NOBODY at either DMV knew what was going on or how to get my license back. I thought I would never have my license again. Everyone at the DMV were rude (I can't say I blame them, it's a very confusing case).
Not Romona though. Not only is she kind, but she bent over backwards to figure out what was going on and get the gears rolling.
This woman exudes professionalism, and I'm so grateful that she is there. I hope they pay her well
