When I arrived I myself did not believe I had left myself any chance at a Happy life. Quickly I learned that with patience and determination and the ability to listen there was hope. Starting off at the 3.1 house and I say house for while you’re there the treatment is also a home for us that needed the help. You won’t feel hurried or rushed due to someone just trying to tax your insurance never was I made to feel like a number.daily house meetings counseling sessions and and dinner together are a must however you have your whole day and night to gain employment and reconnect with your loved one’s. Once you’ve completed the required steps in this home you will move to a sober home of the mission if you choose to continue . In the sober home you will be able to move freely to work to meeting and whatever your recreational activities may be. All of this sounded so uncomfortable to me until I saw and lived it myself and I can tell you there is just such an opportunity for you and a chance to build a life that sounds like such a fairytale when I was in active addiction . There is a meeting every morning on the beach that completely changes your mind about your chances. I can go further into detail and would be happy to with any questions about this program it saved my life I assure you I’m not writing this column without all of my friends I made getting sober at the mission. From the staff to the patients as well, everyone is understanding and wants to see you do better no matter what your situation is. The group meetings that occur everyday I find the most beneficial to the one on one work done as well. I had the pleasure of working with Scott, who is one of the case managers here at Adcare and he has been able to help me greatly with my circumstances. Then Nick as well who provides one on one care making sure my mind, body, spirit, and goals are all set straight. The facility is in great shape as well from the different amenities (gym, rec room, cafeteria, etc…) to again just an overall comfortable feeling. I would recommend Adcare to anyone who is going through a difficult time with drugs and or alcohol and I’m sure you won’t regret it. Joe, Lacey, Scott, Nick, Amy, the counselors, case managers, TAs, nurses, and the entire staff all played a role in my recovery and influenced me tremendously. What stood out most to me was that they actually care about me as a person and about my genuine well-being. I never felt like just another patient. Coming here also helped me realize just how dark of a place I was in before I arrived. Once I made it through the first two days of detox, I started feeling better, and I’ve continued to feel better every day since. The staff worked immediately to get replacement meals put together for me when the kitchen couldn't the Dr approved medication my husband brought in my insurance kept denying due the red dye allergy. They even went so far to make sure I got cracher wit my seizure meds bc I wasn't supposed to take on a empty stomach. False positive. My Stepingstone Sisters all pitched in so i had the $35 (in change)for a restest. and instead of another test they retested the same tainted sample. So i was thrown out. I have my suspucions a sto what happened but i got to see karma hand look e that! It made me even stronger. I stayed sober. And guessed where I worked for 2 years after being thrown out? Yup. Stepingstone Woman's House. The person i think was responsible for my dirty urine had gotten the boot and i gladly worked there in the office. And, I made sure i treated every single woman with kindness, respect and compassion and i think i was well liked and respected by most. I remember Richie before he was mgr. I knew him. I knew his gif look friend at the time too. I don't know if he's there now but i saw his name mentioned. So, my point is this: Dont bite your nose off to spite your face. You're there for yourself. Sure there are some anal orafices around but who are they to you in the long run...nobody. Focus on yourself and your sobriety. Then get out and live your lives as best you can. I don't ever wanna go back to that miserable, degrading life again. Do you? I don't ever wanna live at Steppingstone or any other halfway house ever again and get pushed around and bullied at times. I will never be told when to go to bed, when I wake up, when and where I eat I'm here to tell you that you don't have to ever again. It's up to you. Your adults. Plus i can tell you right now from reading some of these whose sober and who isn't. Don't hang with the losers. You know who they are. Staying in the program for one year then moving to the grad house for 11 months helped me alot with getting back on a schedule and living a normal life. I will forever be grateful for this place and the awesome staff that helped me along the way. God bless Michael Clinton 1 year ago I have had the honor of being accepted into the program, the class and meeting are well put together, they do have the skills you need to be successful in your recovery, you just need to be completely focused on your recovery and dedicate yourself to that, because if you don't the program will not work. I sit back and watch women complain and iI see them same women not fully applying themself to the program, if you want something to work you have to read and do what the instructions say or you're not going to get it right, and you tend to blame the program. 1st I believe the consistent use of the cell phones are a major distraction to our recovery while we are here, there are unit phones that can be used. Also, the rules need to be enforced more and taken serious by the clients, the disrespect between the clients are childish in this moment, so staff are in high stress due to the disrespect they receive by the clients, please don't believe all the wrong things you here about this program.
