Thank you to everyone at Valley Hope. My husband is coming up on 4 years sober, and we are incredibly grateful for the care and support he received there. We return every year for his renewal, and it means so much that the staff still remember him by name. I have struggled with alcohol for years. At Valley Hope, I realized I was among patients with less than 60 days sobriety. They were just like me. It made me feel comfortable. Some of the staff are in recovery so they could also identify with my own problems. I was treated as an individual and as an adult; with compassion and respect. Some of the patients are in recovery for a second or third time. If they have been somewhere else, they rate the experience at Valley Hope as their best. The food and accommodations were fine. You will get out of it what you put into it. I learned everyone's name. I went to Chapel and AA/NA meetings and participated in voluntary group activities. "Give it all you've got!"

Let me start from the beginning. Nurse Jamie, who assists Dr Leah Mergen, is absolutely marvelous! The appointment didn't start on time, which is no big deal. I've worked many years in medicine and recognize the scheduling complications of any office, or simply put, a crazy day. When Jamie came out to greet us for the first time, I was yapping with one of my friends who works at Avera. As my partner and I wrapped up our conversation with her and headed back to the room, Jamie was kind, interested in our lives, and very attentive. Because women's medicine can be daunting and intrusive at times, she continued to express who she will listen to anything we were willing to talk about without judgement. Jamie spent quite a bit of time in the room getting to know us and was very excited for our future plans. Jamie is a comprehensive nurse who is highly skilled, and should be recognized for her attributes. Avera is lucky to have her. Next, we move on to Dr Leah Mergen. I was encouraged to see her as my primary, as she's known for her patient-centered care and dedication. I was not let down. Dr Mergen offers a multidisciplinary approach to medicine and understands how complex one chief complaint can be. Dr Mergen listens to your concerns and comments, gives options and answers, and not only follows up, but gives you instructions for next steps. To say the least, I am very pleased with the care I received!

Recently my husband was cared for at Avera St Luke’s in Aberdeen. He was hospitalized twice during a 5 wk time span. He was admitted through ER both times, cared for on 3rd floor the first time and spent his final days in ICU. Everyone who cared for him was competent, kind and compassionate. These were difficult days for my husband. . However, the staff at St. Luke’s did everything they could to care for him and ease his struggles. This meant so much to us and we are so grateful for the high level of care he received. In his last hours, the nursing staff in ICU was so kind and caring to us as a family. We will be forever grateful to them for helping to make a difficult situation a little easier. Marilyn McNeil

This treatment center primarily treats adults and is known for its inpatient, residential, outpatient, and aftercare programs. First treatment I ever finished and felt safe at. Great team! Shout out to Cindy for being the best therapist. Let the whole team help you. Food was so good! Work the program. It really works, I think if I’m not mistaken, the highest rate at success in the state, and let’s just say lifelong friends are made and everything here is so special. You can feed the horses, work out, do your laundry, and when you graduate you get a blanket, and everyone loves them!

One of the best experiences of my life. The staff are nothing but kind, caring, and personal! The classes do a great job of diving into the traumas, mentalities, and lifestyles of the addict. A judgement free zone. Excellent 3 square meals a day. A relaxing after care environment. AA/NA Before I graduated, they started Wellbriety. Native/Indigenous spiritual practices. Catholic Mass every Wednesday and Saturday. Horses to feed and pet. Personal Health Web sessions. Online Anonymous meetings. Outings are carefully planned out and exciting. Group creative and athletic activities are always high energy and entertaining. 10/10 Will always recommend to the struggling addict. All the love to my PRC family!❤️❤️ Graduation 1/26/26

My names Sage Henderson I’m not going to lie, this placed helped me a lot, therapists, other staff etc, my advice, don’t listen to the kids, you are here to heal and not make friends, don’t let others control your decisions, do progress on yourself, I made this mistake personally and got set back 3 months of progress because I made friends with newer people who came in, people that were like me at the start of my stay, it was nice to relate and have a person that was there, but save it for the therapists, people will spread rumors around with your trauma so it’s important not to tell them, one thing I did not like, is our personal information were in folders, at the center of each pod, which anyone could access, even residents or kids, I hope they changed this, and girls and boys too, this isn’t a place to fall in love, I’ve seen it with my own eyes, ain’t pretty, overall experience, good, with the kids not so good, thank you dbgr staff for helping me at my 6 month stay.

My daughter finally wanted recovery — and Heartview wrapped her in the kind of care every parent hopes for but rarely finds. From the very first moment with admissions, through inpatient treatment and into outpatient care, every person we encountered showed genuine compassion, patience, and professionalism. This place saved my life. I was admitted a little over a year ago due to an extreme episode of psychosis brought on by a two year long depressive episode and a very heavy dose of cannabis. I stayed for about three weeks. I was a mess before I was hospitalized. I was unemployed, hadn't left my house more than a few times in the previous year, and was too exhausted and paranoid to reach for anything I wanted. The amazing people here set me up with services outside the hospital and I now have a wonderful psychiatrist, therapist, ARMHS workers, and social work case manager. Since my stay, I have managed to: - get a part time job with amazing coworkers and a very understanding manager - find the right medications for me - get my name legally changed (I am transgender and the staff here were wonderful with me) - get my GED (I was severely educationally neglected by my parents, who refused to enroll me in school and who never educated me in certain subjects or beyond 6th grade) and enroll in my associate's in computer science, which I will be starting in June! I haven't yet decided what I want to do for a career - I have some time - but I think I would like to be a full stack developer - get engaged! I am still with one of my partners that I had at the time of my stay and we plan to get married in the next couple of years - improve my relationship with my mom - work through trauma with my therapist (EMDR is amazing) - make new friends - go outside more; I go to work and the library and I hang out with friends - actually have energy for personal projects beyond just my obligations due to my medication stabilizing my manic/depressive episodes and psychosis I cannot overstate how wonderful the staff were, I wish I could remember everyone's names. I remember so many faces and so much kindness towards me. Playing cards and doing puzzles with the older people made me so happy. I remember a lady encouraging my art even though drawing and painting isn't my strong suit. Some names I can remember: Mike from Unit A - thank you for supporting me through the worst of it all, I don't remember much from my first week but I remember your face and your name and I remember you letting me "do mud." LeAnn - thank you for supporting me and for giving me reminders to look beyond myself and my community when I was so worried about myself and people I know personally. Jean Claude - thank you for encouraging my academic side and taking interest in my love for languages. I am still learning Dutch and I have started learning Spanish - I have yet to learn French but that day will come. Garn - we didn't interact a lot but my mom let me know when I got out how you kept her updated and I really appreciated the interactions we did have. Music therapist - I don't remember your name but thank you for letting me sing and for telling me about your instruments. Everyone - I remember you. I may not remember all of your names but I remember you. Thank you. You guys saved my life. I am sorry for how I acted. Thank you for helping me during the scariest time of my life. You guys helped me change myself for the better. Much love! Alex W

They are very efficient here in managing patients through the healthcare process. I appreciate having access to a VA health clinic so close to my home. I have used their clinic for several years now. They have doctors on site and telemedicine. I had an eye exam done by telemedicine. Their is a small waiting area that has coffee and cookies, and a cell phone charger station. Restrooms are provided.

I couldn't be more happy and satisfied with the entire staff at the Bismarck VA Clinic. I was treated with patience, kindness, and dignity and everybody I interacted with was extremely helpful. It's never fun to go to the clinic, but the genuine concern and care I received was exceptional.
