Wonderful place and owners, Richard and Tracy have worked hard to make this a safe place for people looking to turn their life's around. Safe for men and women, food is provided as well as all tinsels to prepare meals. They even have a way to help people get clothes. If not for this place and people like the Kennedy's and so many others who help make this place what it is, there is no telling where I would have ended up. There is always help and hope for those looking to help themselves here.

The Windmill Wellness Ranch is an inpatient rehab and recovery center located close to San Antonio in Canyon Lake, Texas. Here, they treat adults with substance use and co-occurring (dual diagnosis) disorders. If you’re a veteran then it’s good to know that the center is in-network with TRICARE insurance. They also accept most major insurance.
“My experience at Windmill Wellness Ranch was truly life-changing. From the moment I arrived, I felt cared for, respected, and supported. The staff went above and beyond to treat me with kindness and compassion, and the program was exactly what I needed. The therapies, group work, and individualized attention helped me heal and grow in ways I never thought possible. I especially want to thank Ms. Jules, whose wisdom and encouragement always gave me strength. Nate Morgan made a huge impact on me with his guidance and genuine compassion. Haley was always so kind, supportive, and easy to talk to, and Lauren consistently went the extra mile to make sure I felt comfortable and cared for. The environment is peaceful and encouraging, which made it easier to focus on my recovery and personal growth. I never once felt like ‘just a number’—everyone there genuinely cared about my progress. I’m leaving Windmill Wellness Ranch with a renewed sense of hope and confidence for the future. I’m incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done for me and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place that combines professionalism with true compassion.”

Clearfork Academy is more than just a treatment center—it's a place of true transformation. From the moment I walked through the doors, the atmosphere felt welcoming, safe, and grounded in genuine care. The staff members are not only professional and knowledgeable, but they also show an incredible amount of compassion and dedication to each teen's healing journey. The campus is peaceful and beautifully maintained, offering a setting that encourages reflection and growth. The programs are thoughtfully designed to meet the unique needs of each individual, blending clinical expertise with spiritual and emotional support. What stands out most is the way they empower families to heal together, creating lasting change. I rediscovered my self here. I love recovery unplugged. Coming in off the streets with no home and no money but lucky enough to have health insurance I came through not knowing what to expect. They say home is where the heart is and I'm having growing pains after my 9 week stay. I love all the people i met from residential and php there were Many coming in and many moving forward. Each person inspired me in many ways. I was always learning something. it was a true blessing to have the ability to learn and grow in an environment that encourages the rediscovery in self authenticity, healthy coping skills, music and art therapy. Personalized trauma and family therapy and groups on addiction and over coming negative self talk. Learning how to forgive self and others. Heal. And heal and more healing in a safe vulnerable environment. The the community is full of all forms of love residents, alumni and staff all show up as one in creating this magical environment and experience. Shout out to the whole nursing staff at Alb- road. All the techs( Garret, mia, bailey, ect..ect.at Alb -road and all the therapists and Paulina too even though she still owes me a plate of Mole'. Thankyou Liliana- Lili) for asking me the tough questions, forcing my growth through gentle guidance and listening to me ramble. I love you. I love all of you, my love is real. At php the techs maintain the same outstanding level of care as residential. Thankyou matt, Tony,Brandon, Alex, Nico, Claire..ect...ect... You have a piece of my heart with you . Thankyou for having my back. PhiL, Ross, Bri-ttany, new chick jess. Y'all are amazing and probably have the best job in the building I'm gonna miss hanging out with y'all. Jaime in nursing thankyou for having my back multiple times. I will miss our laughter. Chloe in case management thankyou for listening to me and making magic happen you went above and beyond and made me feel like you've been helping people for years. The light worker you are. Thankyou for your effort. Brent, I love you bro I never once ever disliked your morning discussions in fact I looked forward to them every day. One of the highlights of my treatment. Pls never forget the light worker you are. Tracy your empathy is worth mentioning because it takes a very strong person to feel as much as you, guide, shape, and mold as you do, And be as vulnerable as you are. You work within the light never forget the light that you are. Tina, lulu and shawntil thankyou for the fun groups. Last but not least. Douglas my guide, my teacher, my brother I love you man. You surpassed everything I wanted and needed you to be .. we really went to work you and I, and I needed it.. you define the light, a mentor, a friend.. you are someone I will always look up too and think fondly of for the rest of my life.. Thankyou for being my therapist. It had to be Lili and then it had to be you... I appreciate everything you both gave because without being able to talk about certain things I wouldn't have come to the realization or understanding of past trauma and unhealthy viewpoints and coping mechanisms. And none of this would have happened.. I really appreciate recovery unplugged if you can't tell and this is by far the longest review or message or anything I've ever typed on my phone sober so love, peace, and blessings to all who read. Thankyou Recovery unplugged.

My experience with Basepoint Forney: It was honestly amazing and incredibly well. I couldn’t have wished for a better PHP honestly. This place does wonder if you let it. You wont get any out of this program if you do not but the effort they’re giving you. Which i knew while i was in this program but i didn’t fully process until after i left. You get out what you put in. I was off and on with this program for a year. The staff is incredible . Shout out to Ms.Liz , Mr Dylan (how ever you spell it), Sid , Brad (which isn’t unfortunately there), Miss Brenda, Ms. Patrice. Each one of these staff are super helpful and supportive, they fully understand you and listen to you. I was always so happy to talk to them everyday. Also the front desk lady, She was always so happy to see me every morning when i walked in , always complimented me . It made my day by just taking to her. And lets not get started with the therapists. I love each one of them , Mrs. Avery, Ms. Courtney, Ms. Ginna, and more. All these people saved my life multiple times. Especially Mrs. Avery , My therapist almost the whole time. I am so grateful that i met her. She was the first person i was truly honest. She was the first person that made me want to continue to live. She was my best friend. We went through the same kind of stuff , which we could really relate to each other. She truly cared about me. Ive been to so many places where it felt like the people there were just working there for. the money. But there they worked there because they truly wanted to help people and want to see people get better, have a bright future. I haven’t talked to Mrs. Avery since ive discharged back in March. But i wish i could talk to her for one more minute. She helped me make some truly good progress. She helped me with my negative mindset. I remember when i first got there last year i was shy so i went to sit in the corner , when she released i was feeling anxious , she went to sit with me. I love her so much therapeutically and i will always. Courntey, I could talk to her about anything with no judgement what so ever , whenever i was struggling she would come to talk to me here my rant. Shes very nonjudgmental, which all the therapist are. Ginna , even though i didn't get to know her much, she really got me when i did talked to her . Shes very funny , i would joke around with her. She understood why i did the things i did. Each one of these staff i have mention helped me with recovery. I would leave to go to a higher level of care and when i come back it felt like all the staff understood why i felt like i needed to do what i did. The space at basepoint felt very comfortable, i did not feel uncomfortable at all. I wish i had put the full effort when i was there. Which always slips my mind everyday. I cannot change the past so ill just have to accept it and put in the effort in the places i go to. Any other staff i did not mention, They were also super understanding and helpful. If you're going there or are going to i suggest to be honest and trust them, from someone that didn't think they could be helped , this place helped me realize thats not the truth and theres hope in the future. I thank God for this place everyday and i will forever. I grew mentally and physically here. This place brought the true Grace out , which i thought i would never see again . The process might be hard but it will all be worth it at the end. Telling the truth might be hard to say but in the future you’ll thank yourself you did. I love this place and would recommend this place to any struggling teen with mental health. I love all the staff here therapeutically. Especially Mrs.Avery (knee slapper).

I really love this clinic and the staff. I've been going here for about 4 years now and having access to this medication literally saved my life. I'm very grateful for all the staff, especially my counselor, Tessa. She is AMAZING! She's fairly new but since I became her patient she has gone above and beyond to help me in every way. Compared to my last counselor here, the difference is night and day. You can tell she really cares about her patients. I think this place has improved so so much since I first started coming. I think that has to do with Lorenzo becoming the director. I have seen such an improvement with the staff and everything since he took over. So if you're serious about wanting to get clean and change your life for the better, I'd highly recommend this clinic!! Edit: it's a year later and while I still think this clinic is good in a lot of ways, I truly feel like they made a mistake by replacing Lorenzo. The new director is "nice" but he hasn't once introduced himself to me or anyone else that I know of. He's very stand offish and just stays in his office. I feel like he's very corporate, so he's nice in that sense, but I don't feel like he's genuine. I recently transferred to a different clinic because of a situation that happened with him. Now my counselor before I left was wonderful. Daphne was always checking up on me and helping me with anything I needed help with and I felt her genuine care for her patients. I hope this company will stop making their counselors do so much paperwork, it literally takes away from the bonding time with their patients. That's one thing I've always disliked about this clinic. Also last year I went thru like 3 or 4 counselors. You know how hard it is to open up to someone over and over again? To have them say to you that they won't be going anywhere then weeks later they're gone? The turnover rate is extremely high for a reason and I really hope corporate starts listening to their employees or treating them better.

For free health care, I don’t know why I complain. Probably because I'm a salty lil Karen who can barely get out of bed and when I do; I'm mad 😂 I've been to several VAs and Shavano typically completes everything I ask for help with, even if it takes forever. And I really like Dr K. Overall with VA healthcare, or pretty much anything nowdays; being direct and asking for what you need WITH UNLIMITED PATIENCE gets the best results. ***ORIGINAL POST*** I've been seeing my Shavano Park team since October, and I like the location and staff. Dr K is great. Today there was some hub-bub with the fire department and I was forgotten about in the waiting room and ended up having to be there a few extra hours😂 The pros to this was the waiting room was comfortable, the staff was funny and I got to get halfway through my new library book. The only suggestion I would make would be maybe some feng shui (zen water fountain and tranquil pictures perhaps?) and coffee station/healthy snacks for the waiting room. “Where there’s a smile, luck arrives.”

Medmark Treatment Center is an absolute wonderful place for addiction recovery! All the staff are extremely supportive & very genuinely want every person who walks through their doors to walk out their doors with a positive experience living in your brand new sober life. They have access to so many different places to help with any type of aid one might have such as homelessness, paying bills, anything life throws at you! They help not because it's their job...they very genuinely care about people & they want "their" people to live a sober, happy, positive new life always knowing that they will always be there for you should you wake up one morning & find life has gone south. Once enrolled in the outpatient treatment there, you are assigned a counselor that is available to you for any reason every day with Sundays being the exception! I have found that a lot of people really don't have a very positive attitude towards Methadone treatment, & I believe that it is because they don't understand it & it's role in your recovery. I know when I initially signed up, I didn't know or even realize all the pros of using Methadone would bring me. In fact, I only knew one thing & that was that the Methadone would prevent me from having to endure the torment of going through withdrawals from my body physically needing the heroin. Anyone who has ever been "Dope sick" from heroin will quickly tell you what a living hell it can be, in fact there are some people who have actually lost their lives not from using heroin but from going through withdrawals from not having it. I had attempted many different times to relieve myself from the dangerous drug & the "Drug Life" only to repeatedly fail for one reason or another...most of which was the cravings I would have to do the drug even though I was sick to death of that lifestyle mistake due to looking for something that would numb me & my emotions after being physically & sexually assaulted back in 2012. I learned that the Methadone actually prevents those cravings, which is why Medmark Treatment Center was my saving grace & the reason I successfully after two & a half years was finally comfortable enough to leave from there completing their program successfully & have now been free of "Satan's Drug" for almost 4 years now! (2025) I do not ever want to live that lifestyle ever again, it was a whole nightmare within itself & my life was completely chaotic & stressful during the years that I was in my addiction. Should you or someone you love & care about or even someone you may not know well yet...find them stuck in an addiction PLEASE be kind enough to introduce them to the help that Medmark offers. I, myself...have told numerous people about it some who went & others who didn't...but I physically took seven different addicts there & introduced them to recovery through Methadone or Suboxen at Medmark. All seven of them enrolled into the program. After a bit of time, two of them stopped going for reasons of their own...but the other five are living their new lives sober, happy and thriving. Rise Recovery’s Charlie Naylor Campus is located in San Antonio, Texas. It’s an addiction and mental health treatment facility that has helped young adults and families overcome drug and alcohol addictions for more than 40 years. Young adults seeking recovery from substance use disorders can take advantage of the clinic’s Youth Recovery
My daughter attended Rise Inspire Academy for 2½ years and graduated in 2025. We were referred to the program by a close friend who works in the recovery community, and I'm truly grateful for that connection. Rise made a meaningful impact in my daughter’s life. She began her journey to recovery in 2023, and today, she’s the only clean and sober student in her graduating class. That speaks volumes about her commitment — and the support she received. Throughout her time there, my daughter was offered counseling, coaching, and a safe place to heal and grow. The program isn’t magic, and it’s not easy. But for students who are ready to put in the work, it can work. The staff includes some very kind, devoted individuals who truly care about the kids they serve. For that, I’m thankful. However, my experience as a parent was mixed. I found communication with the staff to be somewhat lacking. It often felt like they were focused entirely on my child — which is important — but I also felt left out of the loop and that my feedback was not always welcomed or acknowledged. That made things challenging at times. One concern I want to raise is how my daughter was led to believe she had a chance to work at the school after graduation. She went through the process of creating a recovery plan, submitting a resume, and even had an interview with the director, Evita. But in the end, nothing came of it, with no clear explanation. I can’t help but feel this decision may have been influenced by my own willingness to speak up about certain safety concerns and the need for stronger leadership. That was disappointing, especially after the growth and hard work my daughter had shown. Despite the challenges, I do strongly recommend Rise Inspire Academy to families with teens struggling with substance abuse. This school offers a life-changing opportunity for young people — but it requires effort, honesty, and a desire to change. For those who are ready, this program can be the turning point.

If it wasn't for this amazing program and facility I wouldn't be here today. It's been almost two years since I first walked through the doors of BRC. I would first and foremost like to say that if it wasn't for the staff for taking genuine interest and concern for my overall being and seeing past my physical appearance that I was struggling with something much deeper than I wouldn't have stayed. I see some negative comments and believe me I had some when I first got to Austin, TX. But, sitting here clean and sober almost 2 years later I will admit that if it wasn't for this knowledge that was given to me by this program, I probably wouldn't be who I am today. I've come to my own realization that your addiction will convince your brain of anything to keep you living in the darkness. It will tell you that you aren't and addict or that because you look different that you aren't an addict. I'm currently still working on underlying problems that led me down the road of addiction and using them to help build my strength to continue this journey of recovery. If it wasn't for BRC I would still be a lost 29-year-old mother of 6 beautiful children and I wouldn't know that a healthy relationship looks like or that firm boundaries with unhealthy people are okay. I walk in a new light thanks to this place and the people that make this program possible. One day my children will also thank them for giving them their mom back! No words can ever express the gratitude that I have for BRC. Please have an open mind when going into this program because I promise it will all be worth it. The program is strict but our addiction are even darker.

Tyler McReynolds here. I have a long history with this place, and unlike many reviews, I actually went here. My brother went through 2 years before me and was there for 6 months. I even visited him at the time. He was sober for 15 years and I was in AA for 10 years consecutively too. I know exactly what goes on at this place, regardless of how you guys want to dress it up over time, or slap on a new coat of paint, or LLC. Staff took away my PTSD medication. I did not want to stop taking it, but they had confiscated it. It had no euphoric effect for me. Came up with their own taper schedule, and I was sick out of my mind for 2 months with no way to get help, while they accused me of not wanting to participate in their groups. Flying under the radar they called it. 30 days in, I could not take it anymore, and took off walking. Hitchhiked in the back of a pick up to a gas station. Begged for change for the pay phone. Made a phone call and wouldn’t you know - I sounded like a complete nut, and no one would believe me. How many people has that happened to. I have not forgotten my rage and disgust, at what you all tout as integrity. I do think: many people who actually survive places like this, have a criminal record and have much more difficulty in finding a steady job after treatment - don’t forget the employment gap. A low hanging fruit, which happens to not care about those things, is a job in the treatment industry. People I think start them with good intentions. But you are mixing good intentions with your livelihood. As time goes on, you get people like Mark Houston, who also threw in prestige and AA fame. They think they needed to be yelled and screamed at, so that is what they do to others. And they’ll say their Sobriety proves it, and that your best thinking wound you up there - so what do you know about anything. I was told we were all connected, all passengers on a ship and all of that - I disagree with that book now - but I would say if there is something that seems to connect me with people I know from AA, it is that we were shamed, dismissed, and ignored, instead of listened to, and instead of having the necessary time or resources to figure out what was going on, what led to the way life became. People kept deciding for me. And while I do not excuse it, I do think many who did that to me, did so based on people having decided things for them too. You are either callous, or too conflicted, from basing your entire career on AA. You have created a monopoly: treatment, sober living, aftercare, monitoring, e-cig juice. I have forgiveness for the wrongs I experienced in AA and treatment centers, but it is still going on. Will you be upset at me for speaking of it? I did not tell anyone to do these things. I was never interested in being involved. Then I spent 10 years in meetings every week, trying to figure out why things never really got better. I started drinking as a boy in 4th grade, and progressed like many do, substances at 14 and so on, and now I am in my 30’s, and I have been free of AA and any other program 5 years; what do your chips say on them? Don’t know what the answer is, but it’s not BRC Recovery, as its called this week. Never was. That was the problem. And part of why I could never figure things out. Life was a puzzle that people kept scrambling, when I’d finally found a corner piece and then they’d blame me. Ask my family for money. These treatment centers are de facto prisons, if you have been in one you know how hard it is to even speak of without sounding crazy. These places took a complicated situation, and made it impossible; turned my life into something even more twisted than before, and how confusing is that, when even courts send people to them all the time. I wish those who still intend well the best, but when will you stop? You all know exactly what I’m talking about with all of this, I do not fear any of you, and I’ll be in the ground before I get slandered or disrespected again, the way I got done at this place before. Don’t let them lie to you too.

I went here back in 2020 when Covid was becoming a huge problem. I was here under the law, so I was forced to come against my will after having a mental breakdown in a truancy court. The kids unit was pretty decent. None of the kids were mean or weird. And overall, very nice people to be around. Maybe one or two staff members were nice, like one of the night shift doctors because he gave me some mild pain meds and a heating pad to manage my endometriosis. The rest of the staff was just straight-up disrespectful. Some of them talked badly about the patients and some of them were rude to the patients like myself. I heard one of the nurses call me a "smart-ass midget." Another nurse got annoyed with me because I told her I had to be monitored to use the bathroom since I had a history of purging. And she replied with "And whose fault is that?" On a separate day, that same nurse disregarded my endometriosis because I told her that my pains get so bad they make me throw up. She then said "If you throw up, we'll have to restrain you." But when I told her I was sick, she still said "We'll still have to restrain you." She also told me that it "wasn't possible" for my cramps to get that bad. Some of the nicer nurses let me take food out of the cafeteria since it was a sign I was doing better and was going to eat without purging. And the food was pretty decent, I liked it a lot. So overall, it wasn't the worst place I've ever been to. It could have been better though.

When I first arrived, I couldn't get myself to leave my room for the first 2 days (because I was so sick) but the staff worked really hard on getting me regulated on meds. I finally came out of my room, made a group of friends that I'll hold close for the rest of my life, and THE STAFF.... some of the most amazing people I think I'll ever meet.
