I've been going here for a lonnng time like maybe 13 or 14 years now. I can't imagine what it would be like if I didn't have Crystal to talk to throughout the issues Ive had. My daughter sees someone here also and she can't wait to have her next appointment. I don't know if I'd have made it this far without having someone to talk to who doesn't judge me or BS me either. I'd recommend anyone who is thinking about seeing a counselor to give them a call

March 25 I will have been clean for 2 years. I have been to many clinics and never have come this far! If I have a problem I get dealt with usually that day and with addiction being fast and efficient can be life or death. I think Dr. Harkin has tried hard to make his clinic a better the typical methadone clinics and I think he’s done amazing job! Not one of the other clinics in Madison can you walk into and say I’m struggling can I please talk to the doctor, not one of them will you be able to do that but at ASAP you can and that’s enough for me that right there is what it should be! When we walk in there in the morning sometimes all we need is someone to say hi , how are u doing with a smile on their face and that’s enough to change that day!! I’m so grateful for my second chance at life….well let’s keep it real more like 100th chance at life!! Lol but I think I got it this time and that’s thanks to dr. Harkin and he’s amazing staff!!

Dr Harkin, is great he is truly compassionate for his patient's. I have only been to one other clinic and they just treat you like a number, they treat you with respect at ASAP and they don't judge. It seems like everyone likes Dr Harkin, you will even find him out in the parking lot from time to time giving fist bumps to his patient's and asking them how they are doing.

Madison, WI | Hope Haven – North Bay Lodge, located in Madison, Wisconsin is a non-profit alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including alcoholism, co-occurring mental health disorders, and opiate addiction. They offer residential care providing long term support for addiction recovery, as well as flexible o | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I have been at Madison west for 5 yrs now I will admit when I started the first 2 yrs were ups n downs but because of finally getting a great counselor (Molly) u was able to get in the right path n stay clean and worked myself up to phase 5 one yr later I again was moving up to phase 6 but 2 days b4 I moved up they bumped my back down to phase 3 for missing my call back witch I agree was my fault nobody else but mine I have been still clean and busted my ass to make sure I get back to my old phase. But again just last week I had another call back from this Jerry who doesn’t even work in the clinic who isn’t even my counselor called and my children answered the phone and hung up witch is my fault to deal with my children but to bump me further down because the man can’t call back again how can I come in for a call back if there was no voicemail left no answer from me what am I supposed to do if you never even called back one more time. I’m transferring to ASAP were my mother and brother also go and have nothing but great response from the ASAP clinic.
I just want to say to anybody who works hard, stays clean, put in the effort, wants to do better for themselves, should not be punished for all the hard work to achieve their freedom from drugs I take responsibility for my actions but I WILL NOT TAKE BLAME FOR SOMEONE WHO CANT SEE PAST ANYTHING BUT MORE MONEY IN HIS POCKETS.
I use to love this clinic but it has done nothing but work its way down to the bottom of the list of clinics,
1. My pee sits in the bathroom tray for hrs b4 it’s even moved away from others tampering with it.
2. They treat there staff like they don’t go through hell with the patience who do act like children.
3. They don’t care about you, or how far you can go if given the opportunity, by their own actions.
4. The clinic has been slowly going downhill with no real effort to improve.
5. Management doesn’t even work at the clinic and doesn’t see any of the patients in person.

Madison, WI | Four Lakes Psychological Services, located in Madison, Wisconsin is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including co-occurring mental health disorders. Specialty rehab programs at Four Lakes Psychological Services include tailored care focusing on women's specific needs and experience | Treatments Programs | I give this review one star because the algorithm won’t allow me to type without any star and because there are not any minus stars!
This review is regarding the “YAYA”young adults and youth advocacy program and the transition to independent living programs; which for the most part overlap.
Please do not let your child be involved with this pretend not for profit organization. Case workers , family, fictive kin, GALs, please, please-
Please do not allow any youth with whom you are involved or for whom you make choices. be forced to live with these people, be part of their programs- please Nothing!! They only care about the bottom line. All the positive staff, programs, benefits, Services they talk about, it’s all a lie or at best greatly exaggerated. Name one service, I’ll tell you the truth about it-school- they sit the kid in front of a computer. Their attitude is- well, go ahead, have at it- while the educator sits barely within ear shot doing paperwork. Last year, school started in Sept, 2022 ; in Oct.2022, the teacher, who is supposedly special ed qualified, who is the only teacher, with an assistant - as of October last year, she had not yet even read the IEP for a Special Education child who was also new to this agency and school. This is shocking! Inexcusable! This Youth actually received zero services directed to HIS individual special needs. The goal was help him graduate high school according to the parameters of his IEP. They didn’t even try, they only accommodate their own agendas.
Therapy? Sometimes. When “the “ therapist got to you. Should it be a set time and day- an experience none of these kids have likely experienced? Predictable and consistent? No, because nothing thresholds was doing was predictable, no one could be counted on. No consistency- exactly how the kids’ lives have always been. So much for establishing a trusting relationship to model. As far as I saw, there was a therapist responsible for 20-25 kids. The most common scenario is this; the people providing trauma informed therapy for very traumatized youth, have finished their course work and must complete 4000 working hours, two years, towards the required hours to take the exam required to be a licensed clinical social worker-LCSW.
But, the point is, while working at thresholds, they are in fact !!practicing!!
The people they (all the theys refer to thresholds) claim to be “masters prepared” are managers. They do not interact with the youth. They work with numbers to show a profitable bottom line.
The people who actually interact with the kids ( and I say kids because 18 years old, 20, 22 - they are still kids). Our brains keep growing, learning, processing, adapting, continues until at least age 25.
For the kids in these facilities, many with horrific histories, pretty much all with PTSD, ADHD, TRAUMA, that common course of brain development has been delayed and squashed by their traumatic histories, organic disablement and life in group homes.
Their 18, -19 year old brains can not be compared to a kid not raised in “the system”. It takes more time and more positive, consistent interactions with caring adults- one of the basics every child requires.
As per the jobs posted on the web site, the employees who interact with these youth on a daily basis, are required to have some combination of an AA degree in anything related to social work; two to five years experience in the same or similar field; a BA In social work or some related field. The job requirements and the job description are like reading two different books on two unrelated topics. In fact, many of the employees, particularly those who most interact with the kids are ignorant, minimally educated, and have no real understanding or investment in their jobs or the youth.
There are three or four, maybe five of these three story buildings the kids live in. They are all within one to two miles of each other. The demographics of the youth population is predominantly those with antisocial behavior tendencies. It’s like prison; some have been falsely convicted; (continues)

For speed, I quickly review each aspect of the recovery after my full review. You can scroll past my full review for the bullet points.
Full Review:
Energy told me to take a look at options to heal the results of my actions.
In my opinion, energy (not action) brought you to my review.
I tried to detox at home and I briefly died.
My energy showed me fiist hand the difference between life and death and my energy choose life. (Like it or not).
I took action and called the facility, asked questions, and I was provided answers as well as a close contact until I arrived.
When I arrived I saw it was a beautiful large 'lodge like' building in a tranquil, rural area.
Intake was detailed, and quick. I can not remember too much of the intake process but I know they were friendly and understanding.
My detox started immediately after intake. I was provided a private room. I was medicated and monitored often.
After detox, I started a residential program. I was given a personal, clean room. They monitored us less than at detox but still 24/7. It took a bit to get used to the pop ins from the BHT's.
Groups were the main activity 8 hours, 7 days a week. You are put into a group of 8-20 people. My group offered engagement and education that I took advantage of.
After group we had the option to take advantage of the amenities. Pools, hot tub, workout space, common areas, propane fire pits, pool, darts, video games, art etc. This gave me the option to see that sober fun was possible.
I was able to call home, handle my day to day and use my laptop/phone. Having my electronics was very helpful.
There was a variety of snacks that ranged from ice cream to healthy options. A good variety of drink options were also available.
I was offered a full breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday that included a decent amount of choice. I personally did not ask the cooks for special meals so I can not review the food a vegetarian, or glute-free person would need.
I met all types of people of all ages. I saw all types of personalities. I found friends but I had to go around and take action to make those contacts. Not everyone wanted contacted, I respect that. However not everyone was someone I wanted to talk to.
They offered on site Dharma and SMART classes as well as off-site AA and NA. I did not attend so I can not review
Events and trips were planned on Saturdays and Sunday had church options.
Medication was provided in a line with first come service. The lines seemed long at peak times so I learned to go do my meds off peak hours.
Therapists were mainly there to handle the paperwork, give references to other programs and calculate CADs. Sessions were about an hour a week.
Providers were either virtual or in person. I saw a provider weekly. The provider lines can be long as well so bring your headphones.
The discharge went smooth for the most part. I did advocate for myself to make sure it went well.
Bullet Points:
- Intake: Fast, Friendly
- Detox: Heavily monitored and medicated
- Resedential: Personal room, program scheduled daily
- Amenities: Exactly what is listed
- Food: A variety, 3 meals a day and snacks
- Meds: First come first serve, peak busy off peak quick
- Atmosphere: Focused on sobriety and activities
- Staff: Attentive, friendly
- Therapists: Lacking direct in person contact
- Clarity of the process, routine and Insurance updates were lacking
- All around: It was great. learned a lot, met great people.

The negative reviews I have seen is concerning. Every business every rehab every hospital has flaws. You will never find what most of you are looking for which is perfection. I seen a review where the reviewer states there was 150 clients. yet there is not 150 or even close to that amount that is leaving negative reviews. There was even reviews claiming wood violet commits insurance fraud. Common sense would tell you if that was the case they would accept Medicaid and Medicare which is much easier to commit fraud with. Another thing no matter where you go things can slip past staff but if your loved one partakes in it. Then your loved one has to have accountability. If you have a garden then you will also see no matter what you put on it there will always be some weeds that will pop up. Same thing with these centers no matter how many safe guards they put up there will always be something the comes through. Am I saying wood violet is perfect? No. Noone is perfect. But giving the situation the world is in with people not really wanting to work. They do good with what staff they do have.

Idk who said Matt was cool, but Andy sure is. Matt made comments doubting me recovering.
The rules suck, the meds don’t help if you’re actually detoxing, the place is too damn small, you can’t use the gym everyday only when your unit is allowed, if you’re having an anxiety attack / anything ptsd related they won’t let you outside or have anything to do for you they’ll just let you freak out until you’re so uncomfortable that you’re a problem then they’ll over exaggerate your actions (especially Matt) the group was amazing, the people were good, there was one guy consoling me when Matt came in and made comments that eventually just ran me out of the building, the food is terrible, the skinny blonde broad acts understanding then makes fun of you when you’re not in the room, the black lady who gives meds in the morning is mean, and over all I’d just recommend going somewhere else, this isn’t a place you can be comfortable in if you’ve ever been homeless or if you have any kind of REAL TRUAMA, they also let their patients glorify smoke breaks and I don’t even smoke cigarettes but while I was there I sure as hell did.
Decided leaving that place and finding treatment for vivitrol with a pcp would be more conducive than this pathetic program & their groups don’t even deep dive into things that are important like the CBT program at Meridian in Pontiac Michigan does (which is way better)… anyways, if you wanna be in pain everyday and have a crappy experience, go here, where they act like they care but don’t.
I on the other hand will find my Sponsors from somewhere else. The only kind staff was Emma, Ramon, and the Brunette lady that does your intake. Other than that was a terrible experience and I’ve been to over 10 treatment centers around the country, this was hands down the worst one.
