My son, who is a veteran, had a dreadful accident 21 months ago, the VA has been absolutely phenomenal in taking care of his every need. The ladies in Riverton, Wyoming are so conscientious and care about the people that are going in. I highly recommend if you are a veteran in the Riverton area to use their office. My counselor Rhiannon is super helpful! She genuinely has my best interest at heart and she gives me resources/literature/& helps me with positive coping skills! It's hard finding a good counselor that's a perfect fit for you but I genuinely think Rhiannon is a great counselor :) Also Shyla the receptionist is so kind and patient and always willing to help! I know there's also intensive outpatient programs available! Overall I would definitely recommend this counseling center to anyone seekinging behavioral health help in Thermopolis.

Great & Terrible experiences. Waited 300 days for Sheridan VA while in severe pain. Requested help 8/15/25. Surgery performed 6\11\2026. Remove desicated spinal disc, bone was pressing severely upon nerve bundle per Neurosurgeon. I asked my Sheridan VA primary care doctor on Aug 2025 to visit a neurosurgeon for severe low bk pain, collapsed disc in the spine at L5 - S1, it is severely and painfully compressing the nerves, asked to see Neurosurgeon & finally Jan 2026 approved for doctor's visit on March 2026. Because of the extreme delay from the time I asked and the time that the consult actually went through, I visited the Community Care office twice to complain and to ask why it was taking so long. During my first visit I was told that the consult was just sitting in the system and no one had done anything with it however that visit had no effect whatsoever. My second visit was basically the same thing. It took the pain management nurse to get this going, finally ! It took approx. 169 days for the consult to process. Another, approx 33 days to see Billings, MT. Provider. The approximate combined wait just to see the Dr. was approximately 202 days. You can not visit the Consult Dept. in-person to ask about severe delays. I was told it was in a lock - down area, Veterans CAN - NOT visit this locked - down department, their words, not mine. After those 202 days I was finally able to see the back neurosurgeon and he confirms the collapsed disc between the two vertebraes and the severe, painful compression on the nerves. It requires a fusion that is called 360° fusion of the lumbar spine. It's major surgery that involves cutting through your stomach to remove the desiccated disc and inserting a device that allows bone to fuse and then flipping you to cut through your back to install the screws and other hardware. I was cautioned this was going to be painful. I'm already in pain so go ahead and hurt me, yeah hurt me. The pain I got would last forever but the pain of surgery and afterwards will eventually subside and stop, so yeah go ahead and hurt me. Let's get this over with. If I remember the rules correctly, "No veteran shall wait more than 30 days for care or to see a doctor, is that working out for y'all? " Awesome primary Care August 15th 2025 asking to see a specialist about this severe pain but did not get the appointment until March 5th of 2026. Waiting for the consult at Sheridan VA hospital took up the majority of that time. The neurosurgeon is booked up I will not have the surgery according to his office until June, July or August. If the surgery occurs in August then I will have waited one year in severe pain. Saw optometrist Dr.Kowoski. BEST exam EVER. Told him he could go home early with pay and get a raise tomorrow. Dr. Mikus is a good guy, personable, gives plenty of time to ask questions, he listens. Oddly, at the end of visit, as I was leaving, he asked if I was sure that I had "all of my questioned answered. Never had any Doctor ask me that before as I am about to walk out the door. That was a first for me. Reminded me of Star Trek's Doctor McCoy's bedside manner. His Nursing staff...Nurse needle-stick, I didn't feel a thing ! Delightful, engaging bedside manner that could & should be the Gold Standard. His Nurses have empathy, sympathy, care and concern everyday for every patient. Near future I will begin a YouTube Video, postings on the Great & Terrible experiences. Starting with these experiences.

My counselor Rhiannon is super helpful! She genuinely has my best interest at heart and she gives me resources/literature/& helps me with positive coping skills! It's hard finding a good counselor that's a perfect fit for you but I genuinely think Rhiannon is a great counselor :) Also Shyla the receptionist is so kind and patient and always willing to help! I know there's also intensive outpatient programs available! Overall I would definitely recommend this counseling center to anyone seekinging behavioral health help in Thermopolis.

Very, VERY poor service. I had a therapist recently as a young child with trauma, and this woman simply called in and told my family she had gotten sick and never contacted us again. Never booked another appointment, didn’t return calls or texts, nothing. It’s a poor environment, don’t recommend. It’s got better employees though.

I was here for only 6 months on hunter cottage. I loved it there. The staff made you feel at home in the cottage and the school was amazing. The staff would always make amazing food and it was so good. When I was there I never saw anyone say the food is bad. I discharged on March 16th 2026. It was an amazing journey and helped me have a really good wake up call. Shout out to all of the staff, teachers, helpers, and etc of what they taught me. Laura was an amazing staff on hunter cottage, Taryn, slim, Cheyenne, Adri, Willow, Delaney, and everyone else! Thank you guys so much for helping me. My name’s Shay and I was there about 3-4 years back and I loved the place. I got into some shenanigans and such, and ran away even, but it always felt like they could see through these acts and actually see someone who needed some help and guidance. Staff were amazing, and I actually learned while in school. It felt like the first place were I could be myself and grow as a person. Shout out Julianna, my therapist. They were the first place I went to were they never outsourced a need for rehabilitation to punishing you or controlling you. If you’re ever in need of some guidance or help, I recommend this place for 100%.

I got sent here after calling the crisis hotline. Mentally, I was in a very bad place. I came to seek therapy but no one once brought up finances or if insurance would cover it. I assumed it was all free and truly believed they wanted to help me. Well, they failed to mention that they charge $600-$900 per 57 minute session, and they also failed to mention that my insurance didn't cover it until the bill racked up to be nearly $2000. They refuse services if you don't give them any money so I stopped going. I came here to battle my depression because of finances, only for them to use my mental illness as a cash cow. They obviously want to profit from your mental illness, and could care less about anything else. Don't come here unless you got lots of money to pay for underpaid therapists. This place is a joke and only made things worse for me. So if you're in a crisis, please DO NOT come here.

They have no judgement when u come in sick and beat down from drugs and the world that comes with it. I lost everything while using drugs also lost myself. I have come to love myself and I have a home my family back. They really care about u and make sure you are taken care of without judgements like alot of other places id been to. They have nurse visits also so if need anything they are there for u. Michelle is my doctor and she is my she's so caring and so thoughtful and always ask about how you're doing and your family and if you need anything. Also the nurses I see weekly are the best they are also so caring and thoughtful a couple of them have been there since the beginning of my journey and I'm so grateful for all of the people at ideal options they have all changed my life. If you are struggling with addiction and are scared to get help or afraid of any judgments don't be reach out to Ideal options and get help because they are all amazing there.
