Went last week for my first appt. after moving to the area. Wow like all the reviews have said everyone is nice and caring. I absolutely love my new doctor, Doctor Donahue she listened to what my concerns were and then we talked about those and everything else. She took time to listen and talk to me like a person not a number in my book that makes her a great person and awesome doctor. the whole staff that I interacted with there was awesome from the front office, nursing, to the vampire (can't remember the term for the ones that draw blood....LOL) Thank You

At one time this nursing home had a reputation that made you question whether or not you should place a loved one here. I’m here to tell you that shouldn’t even be a question. My aunt came for therapy, a few months ago and was very reluctant to go. Now, she and my family couldn’t be happier. The staff is very caring, kind and respectful. There is laughter in the halls, there is a sense of pride in what they do, and they communicated very well with my aunt, and my family. I highly recommend Big Horn. It is clear they are going through some changes, but these changes have definitely served them and the other patients well.

I had the pleasure of working with the team at Big Horn Rehabilitation and Care Center in Sheridan about a month ago, and I was truly impressed by their warmth and dedication to the residents. The caregivers I met were not only friendly but deeply invested in providing quality care. You could feel the authenticity in the stories they shared, and it was clear that the residents are genuinely loved and well taken care of. During my time there, I filmed an interview with both administrators and employees, and hearing their passion for what they do really stood out to me. It’s rare to find a care facility where you sense such a personal connection between staff and residents. Based on my experience, I would wholeheartedly recommend Big Horn Rehabilitation and Care Center to my friends and family. If you’re looking for a place where your loved ones will be treated with compassion and respect, this is a great choice.

I enjoyed every single program about this place while I went there. I loved all my teachers and wished I could stay there.. But I did have a friend that went there who had his knees slammed backwards for a restraint and broken by a teacher there. There was nothing that could be done because of the legal paperwork that parents sign. 🤔 I enjoyed my time there tho. Just feel bad for other kids who weren't so lucky.

I'm now 40 and came to this place back in 1999. I hated being there but to be fair didn't have much to complain about. Bt time is been there 6ish months I didn't want to leave. I learn so much being there that I'm still grateful to this day. I earned freedom to walk the grounds unsupervised with permission as well as helping give tours to potential clients. I rode horses often did cattle branding of calves of course and did artificial insemination. I did small engines and wood working along with horticulture which were all a blast. There was a lot that happened in the dorms with the girls but what do you expect when you have so many girls with sick am array of issues. A huge part of getting something from these programs is if you want to. If your ready to get better. The staff members were all fabulous I can't think of anyone who I didn't like. I always felt genuine concern from them. I was even given the privilege to go off campus 1x a week to do gymnastics. I still to this day have small decorated box given to me as a gift upon leaving from a staff member named Marilyn. When you opened it it has a tiny box with a small now that says it was filled with her love. I'm not sure what has happened but, this place turned my life around and who know where it be today without it. So Thank you so so so much. Sorry for the delayed post lol.

This place saved my life. I’m a successful person within the community thanks to them. Great goal, lots of studies back the methods they use. Kids will be kids, some won’t listen. But the ones who do become successful. Remember, it’s a TREATMENT facility. It’s not for fun. It’s difficult, but so is learning the hard way. It does have some flaws though. Staff accountability lacks slightly. Punishment system was a bit overwhelming. They might have fixed these though. Stress is different than safety. It’s not impossible. Nor is it hard if the kids apply themselves

Oh my lord. I remember most of how the terrible people I encountered. Yes this was in 2015 to 2017. So most likely no one cares.. I'm sure. They always like to brush off all issues to the kids and not the staff... I'm almost 26 years old and still have issues with this place. As a mom now I have realized what it is to actually take care of a minor unlike these people. Hope things have changed but I'd never risk it. Ybgr is the type of place that when you're a child in the system already have issues they cause or come up with more issues for that child. Their best interest is not the child nor has it ever been.. horses????? No such luck I o KY seen the horses 3 times. Was forced to stay there for 8 months. The only time we ever seen then is to make the public see they actually do what they say which if ya ever did then we'd see them 1x a week which was promised fo the kids.. but why were cameras allowed during the 3 times I ever saw the horses? I didn't even know yall actually had any wasn't till cameras were involved. If you're child was more successful then you're luck probably because the kids had their parents... I did not. It is mainly a placement for foster kids that act like normal teenagers but can't be handled by anyone who is not there parents. Because being a normal teenager is not accepting here..

As a graduate student who had the opportunity to complete a rotation at Wyoming Behavioral Institute, I was genuinely impressed by the level of care and compassion demonstrated by the staff. Prior to my experience, the general perception I had heard was that patients were not always treated well; however, I found the exact opposite to be true. The team at WBI is deeply committed to supporting both patients and their families, working diligently to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for healing. Mental health treatment can be challenging, especially when individuals struggle to engage with the resources and interventions available due to the nature of their illnesses. For parents, it can also be difficult to place their trust in others when their children are receiving care away from home. At times, communication challenges or differing perspectives between patients and families can make understanding the full picture complex. Overall, my experience at WBI was incredibly meaningful. Dr. Danczik and Dr. Martorano do an excellent job balancing the patient flow and the psych NPs are excellent as well! I gained a great deal of respect for all of the professionals who work there and the effort they put forth to ensure the well-being of every individual in their care. I am truly grateful for the experience and the insight it provided into the compassionate side of behavioral healthcare.

I would highly recommend Dr. Danczik as the best psychiatrist I have ever had since dealing with my mental illness since 1983. I have been in WBI numerous times since 2014. When I got released from WBI in 2023 I picked WBI outpatient to see Dr. Dancsik on a regular schedule for medication management and treatment. I have been in remission under his professional care which is a great relief for me because I would have episodes at least once a year prior to being under his care. Kudos to Dr. Danczik!

Very nice facility. Some staff could be better trained in dealing with visitors. Also have some contradictory rules for visiting. Was told we couldn't smoke we with people we were visiting. However the patients/client were allowed to smoke. Clients shared their cigarettes with visitors. Were told to stop smoking and couldn't stay outside and smoke the whole visitation or be asked to leave facility. One client went and grabbed the visiting rules and pointed out in the rules it states smoking is allowed unless a minor or someone under the age of 18 is present. The guy who said we couldn't smoke then said that was not the rule and what he had stated first was the rule. He was rude, seemed to be looking for a confrontation. All he did was cause confusion. The rules need to be clear for both the clients and the guests. And you can't have different set of rules for either group nor can you make the rules up as you go. I also heard a number of clients complain how the feel like religion is crammed down their throats. Now I've been to my fair share of AA/NA meetings. There's a section in blue book where they talk about finding something to believe in. For bill w. That was Jesus/God . I think this gets twisted in translation alot. Personally I don't think he was saying you have to believe in God or religion he trying to say believe in something. Doesn't matter if it's God or watermelons just find something to think about besides your addiction. Religion should never be crammed down throats or pushed onto someone. It took a long time to put the bible into print. And when king James decided to do so he had to find someone to translate it from a dead language. who's to say the guy who translated it actually knew Hebrew at all?

I was politically and falsely incarcerated by the VA in 1993 in Hawaii by an "Activist Judge," Richard Komo, because they thought I knew something politically and homosexually blackmailable about my Agent Handler while in enlisted US Army MI service in the mid '70's, CIA Dir. GHWB. This was during the Clinton years, and they were ransacking every CIA, FBI, Army, foreign, ... safe to find anything they could use for their Communist backers. It was all false disinformation left for them to find, and they're paying for that, now. I love watching them now on the spit roasting over hot coals. But in finally succumbing to my failing eyesight and hearing, I went to this local clinic. They have set me up for two cataract removals and hearing aids, and hopefully more. The VA Hospital has to put up with Congress Mandated bureaucracy, such as "Gun-free parking lots" and the like (I have to stay armed because of what my duty was in the service), and there are expectable delays ("Hurry up and wait!"), they also have returned to me the gift of sight, hearing, and being able to communicate with people again. I can't describe what it is like to watch clouds again with depth perception, in color, and beauty. To hear and understand conversations again. Their staff is very helpful, proficient, and knowledgeable, and they DO follow up. Thier naysayers be damned. The Army does take care of it's own.

I’ve spent my whole life in the system, YDS and their staff were the only ones to treat me like a person and not a case number or a “troubled kid”. Not all group homes or facilities in the state of Wyoming cared much for kids like me, YDS was the only place that was able to help me. For that they have my gratitude and respect for life.
