We were immediately checked in and the Doctor immediately went to work on him. They explained everything that was going on and treated him well. He was admitted to icu, where he spent the next five days. Dr. Miller ( who I can’t say enough good things about ) was awesome from beginning to end. Unfortunately after three months passes, my dad is having issues, because of the care he received we took him back to this hospital. Again, they had him checked in, the nursing staff treated him with great care. The Doctor on duty was not what I had experienced at the previous visit so I can’t say I was happy with her. She only came in the room once and stuck her head in once. She didn’t explain anything to us. Never knew what was happening. Later he was admitted which would be around 4 am the next morning. Dr. Miller was with my dad by 6 am. The nurses took very good care of dad. He loves Ms. Dorsey. From that 4 am admit until today when we left, every single person we came in contact with was educated, I caring and super friendly. I am happy that our hospital is making some good changes. I pray that it continues to strive. We need this place in our town. Thank you Dr. Miller and staff for helping my dad live a little longer, thank you for caring about not just him but his children too. Keep up the good work.

My experience at Palmetto was really good. The counselors and staff were amazing—so caring, supportive, and always willing to help whenever I needed it. They truly care about your recovery and make you feel comfortable and understood.
What I really liked is that it’s not like you’re confined. You have freedom and responsibility—they take you to the store, you do your own shopping and cooking, and you live in a cabin with other females. It really feels more like a community than a program. If there’s ever an issue between clients or if someone feels uncomfortable, the staff is great about rearranging cabins so everyone feels safe and supported.
Overall, Palmetto is a great place that helps you grow, learn, and get the support you need. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s ready to make a positive change in their life.
I want to take a moment to thank all of the staff at Palmetto who made such a big impact on my life. Macy, my counselor—thank you for helping me see things in myself that I didn’t see before. You truly opened my eyes and helped me grow in so many ways.
Ms. Denise and Ms. Diane, you are both truly amazing. Ms. Tamika and Kaylee, and all the nurses including Tucker, thank you for being there for me when I wasn’t feeling well and for taking such good care of me. Clint was really cool people and great to talk with.
Ms. Liz, thank you so much for giving me rides to my doctor’s appointments, and Ms. Kim, I really appreciate you for doing the same. Every single one of you made a difference in my journey, and I’ll never forget the kindness, support, and encouragement you gave me.
And one of my favorite parts was being by the bayou—it was so peaceful and relaxing. Sitting out there, fishing or just enjoying the view, really gave me time to reflect and heal. And having all the cats and dogs around and watching the deers in the woods every day we're very therapeutic .
and Mr Stewart spiritual Stewart you are wonderful person to talk to and thank you Chris for setting up my IOP here in Shreveport hope to have money there before too long and thank you for letting us have that Halloween gathering I enjoyed it very much Miss Holly even though I didn't get to meet you you were on a very fine facility and I would definitely recommend it to several people.

Shreveport, LA | Physicians Behavioral Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, is an acute care psychiatric facility offering mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorder programs. These programs are designed to be able to support someone recovering from both a mental health condition and substance use disorder simultaneously. They accept various insurance pr | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I spent a little over three weeks at Palmetto. Those three weeks were the most important of my life thus far, and I'll never be the same. For all of their faults, at its core, there are some truly amazing aspects to the experience they offer so long as you truly want to make a change in your life.
The most powerful part of the experience for me was the small groups. I was very lucky to have the counselor that I did for the majority of my time there, as every counselor seems to have a very different approach. My counselor was very much a fire and brimstone type of person who was quick to call me and others out on being dishonest with ourselves, which I believe to be the cornerstone of personal growth (being forced to face our self-inflicted faults).
In small group, I watched a man lay his entire life out on a piece of paper and esentially present all that he is and all that he has experienced in his time on this planet to us. Through that exercise, we all watched this guy come to the realisation that he had lost sight of all of the great things he'd done in his life, and spent years soley identifying himself by a few small bumps in the road he'd experienced. He seemed to realise how pigeon-holed he'd become in his way of thinking and how blind he'd been to the man he really is and became overwhelmed with emotion. It was like you could literally see the pain evaporting from this guy. And through that experience, and many other similar experiences, I was forced to take stock of my own life and see where I'd lost sight of the big picture, and it was through that process that I found what I desperately needed from this place.
There's so much good there, and so much potential. But still, there were things that were just flat out not right. One man showed up after drinking over a 5th a day for months, and needed to be in a monitered bed detoxing, but instead was forced by a very grandiose and uncaring staff member named Liz to particiapte in morning exercises. During these exercises he collapsed to the ground and could have busted his head open.
Another man came in with a similar situation and was essentially tossed into a room and left to detox with limited supervision while pumped full of Librium. He got up to use the restroom and actually did fall down and busted his head open and had to be taken to the hospital.
I watched two counselors publicly verbally attack a man for falling asleep during meetings when that man was in the process of getting tested for narcolepsy. And not only that, but was also very visibly having a rough time in life and a rough time adjusting to the program and it was blatantly obvious that there was absolutely no benefit to publicly attacking this gentleman and the whole exchange left both him and me very, very deeply bothered.
There is a reoccuring theme amongst staff there, who have clearly had one-too-many run ins with a certain flavor of rude drug addict, that they allowed those exchanges to effect the way they view and treat all individuals in the program. It seemed to turn into it's own version of the stanford prison experiement where certain staff members forgot that they were there to help a population that desperately needed and wanted that help, and instead took any opportunity to attack and shame and shit on them through some kind of misguided attempt at tough love. And it's not to be said that there isn't a time when an individual absolutely needs a more stern approach to get through to them, but there is a time when that is beneficial and a time when it is absolutely detrimental.
But at the end of the day, I am roughly 38 days sober, and even for all its faults, I do not think I would be here without the help of Palmetto. It gave me a distraction free environment inwhich to paint a pefect mental picture of what I want in life and how to get it. I met some amazing people and found a sense of community, likely for the first time in my life.
I typed this more for personal closure than anything else, but best of luck to anyone seeking help.

I entered CADA March 30, 2017, I was completely out of hope, and full of despair, the only solution I thought I had was suicide. My drinking, and drug use took me to a place of desperation. I could not stay sober, but I could not quit using. I went 20 plus years of suffering. The only coping mechanism I had, for every emotion, was to change the was I felt with drugs, and alcohol. When I was sad, I used, when I was happy, I used. My life revolved around when I would get my next bottle, or find my next high. I lied, cheated, and stole, whatever it took to get my drug of choice. I destroyed my family, and friends. I was like a hurricane in people I loved lives. I saw only darkness.
In CADA, I learned tools, coping mechanisms, of how to deal with life, on life's terms, without alcohol, and drugs. I gained a new sense of self worth. I started to recover from a disease that had already taken so many I loved, including my mother.
CADA took another chance on me 6 months into my recovery. I was hired as part of the support staff. I continued to learn and grow, in the place that saved my life. Three, and half years later, I am now part of the Peer Support Team, giving back, what was given to me.
One of my favorite quotes is, "It is always darkest before the dawn." CADA gave me my dawn.

CADA offers a treatment solution for almost anyone! It is affordable and very comprehensive in its therapy. My favorite programs at CADA are the adolescent treatment facility, which includes a full time teacher, and the Family program. Women who are pregnant, or have children are welcomed in the family hall. Their children attend public school. Infants and toddlers are cared for while the ladies participate in their groups or counseling sessions. CADA has been a LIFESAVER for hundreds of recovering people!

We brought our daughter through the ER for a serious matter. I was told by the doctor and nursing staff that only allow one visitor was allowed in the back.
I expressed to them that I understood the policy, but that her twin sister, who’s a minor, was with me as well, sitting in the waiting room, and if they could make an exception this time.
Especially because the twin in the waiting room was having a breakdown concerning her sister and wanting to be of support at the time.
Dr. Daniel told me in so many words that he could not make expectation.
Of which I expressed was insensitive and asked what was I supposed to do regarding leaving a minor in the waiting room alone?
He insisted on repeating the policy and walked away and sat down at the nurses station with a group of nurses, of which they began to smirk amongst one another.
That’s when I stated how unprofessional they were and they commenced to calling security on me!
I was astounded!
Here I am attempting to get medical assistance for my child, and the very ppl I’ve granted permission to treat my child, is treating me so rudely.
Horrible bedside manner.
Insensitive.
Nasty nice.
Insulting!
I will NEVER come back to this facility!

Genuinely the worst experience of my life. Dr Deluca is the worst doctor I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting. The ER nurses must still be in training because it took them an entire minute to get the IV in my extremely veiny and artery filled arm. I challenge upper management to read this review and interview the current male clients!
You will STAY hungry all day and night!
I am a client who just today left this rehab facility. I volunteered and went in on my own free will, even paying out of pocket to purchase private insurance for this. I was not asked to by a court, judge or anyone else. So, trust that there was no animosity such as that you may see with someone perhaps court ordered into rehab. That being said, you do not want to come to this rehab! I will even let you know that I like it there and loved the people. However, the food portion is simply unreasonable. Like councilor Shyanne stated, “We are not required to feed you until you are full. All we have to provide is a 6oz portion main and two side portions of 2oz each.” Shyanne continued with, “We see countless meth addicts come in here and gain weight!” Who would’ve thought that taking away methamphetamines and supplementing with table scraps would bring a couple extra pounds over the course of a month? Shyanne’s final statement I’ll post was, “This is rehab, food is a comfort and we’re not required to make you comfortable.” This is not an exaggeration by any means. This is word for word. I speak for the approximately 30 men that are in there this very moment when I say they are hungry! I can’t speak for the women because we don’t speak with them.
The men complain almost daily about being hungry after eating a meal. There often isn’t enough prepared to return for more food. When there is, it’s usually just 5 women and 5 men that get a little extra and the rest remain hungry. Today a male client was told by other staff after lunch to take his complaint to the newly appointed program manager, Peggy. Peggy’s initial reaction wasn’t surprising to any of the men. It was in fact predicted by a few. She immediately turned toward the male section of the room and stated, “You’re welcome for having real food. I guess you’ll get a 10oz TV dinner from now on.” These TV dinners were served as a full meal with some of that weight being the water in the vegetables and the useless burnt on gravy that is stuck to the plastic. It was replaced with 10 oz of non-TV dinner food which did not go over well obviously. Peggy was visibly upset and briskly walked away toward her office. There were left overs that the kitchen crew made sure of but Peggy closed the kitchen down and refused to allow anyone to eat it and threw it away out of spite.
During dinner the same day, we received yet another elementary school size portion. Our kitchen crew again let us know that they made enough for every single person to have a “double” portion of the main course. (spaghetti) Again, nobody was allowed to have enough food to feel content and the left over went to waste. There is obviously a problem here. I am fortunate enough that I can eat now. The unfortunate people left there will be hungry tomorrow. If you think I’m inaccurate then speak to those men.
Peggy seems to take pride in her reputation with both client and staff…yes…STAFF, that she is not to be challenged or tested in any way by anyone. We were told by staff that we “better be early to her group session or risk getting kicked out of the program.” Along with, “and do not speak a word unless she has given you permission to speak or you risk getting kicked out”. She is not respected, she is feared.
At least 90% of the staff and clients there are amazing. Even those court ordered seem to really be genuine in recovery and very sincere about the guilt they feel in damage caused to others due to their addiction. I learned what leads me to drink, how to identify those triggers and a list of things I can do to counteract those triggers to prevent relapse. I’ll continue out here with further counselling, Celebrate Recovery and church while relying on my support group for encouragement. You can get that at any rehab but you’ll get to eat if you choose a different rehab. There is a reason why only a few volunteer to go into this one. The problem here lies with management.

I attended Burning Tree Ranch in 2019 after having been to multiple inpatient treatment centers. I was drawn to Burning Tree because of its long-term, Big Book–based approach, and it delivered on that promise. My time there helped me better understand alcoholism as a disease, address my root issues, and build a sustainable path to sobriety.
A major strength of the program is its focus on healthy family involvement. My family gained education, boundaries, and non-enabling support, which was an important part of my recovery. Their aftercare program also stands out for keeping clients engaged and accountable well beyond treatment. Many of my closest connections today are still part of the Burning Tree community.
If you or a loved one struggle with chronic relapse, it would be worth exploring whether Burning Tree is a good fit.
