We used High Focus in Farmington when our child was going through a tough time. It really helped them to get back on track and through what they were struggling with. As a parent it’s quite hard to watch your child struggle with any sort of anxiety, depression or whatever it may be that’s bothering them. High Focus teaches them step by step by engaging them in both individual and group therapy, how to build solid coping skills and manage day to day life, even when it’s hard. They also guide the parents on how to support your child through tough times and advocate for them. They are well qualified and thorough in their treatment plans. They have a way with kids/teens of getting them to feel comfortable enough to engage and to open up. Over time they all began to all feel almost like family. They truly care for each individual they are treating. We can’t thank them enough! Highly recommend.

Their PHP/IOP programs for both adults and adolescents provide comprehensive, tailored treatment that genuinely helps clients make progress. The staff is compassionate, knowledgeable, and supportive. I have nothing but excellent things to say so far. Their hours are very accommodating for new patients, and everyone I spoke to was kind and caring. Furthermore, they seemed to really get behind my primary goals for treatment, whereas my previous provider seemed to keep dissuading me against it. I really like the overall vibe and appreciate how easy of a transition it has been.

My son was a patient at Newport Academy in CT for 76 days. He was in such a bad place when we dropped him off and each time we saw him (either virtually or in person) we kept seeing more and more of him coming back to life. When he first got there, there was a ton of support offered for us parents - they offered us an orientation type of introduction to the program (virtually because we were 3 hours away). We had family sessions every week and were given the opportunity to have them in person, which we did every other session so that we would get to see him and the therapist in person. It was his birthday while he was there and his family therapist was able to schedule an in person session on his birthday, so we could see him and give him a hug on his birthday. The entire experience was amazing, between the therapists who were helping both us and our son and the psychiatrist that worked with him the entire time that he was there to get his meds correct. There was also a person who kept an eye on our insurance, making sure that his stay was covered the entire time he was there. All of them were great at communicating back with us to keep us up to date on his progress and status. My son struggled a bit after coming home from Newport, but the foundation that they established with him and the work that he did at Newport with his mental health has helped him to be fully sober for over a year now. He just graduated from high school the other day and to be honest, I didn't think that was possible before he went to Newport. I would highly recommend Newport to anyone that is considering in patient treatment for their child. The comprehensive treatment that they offer, as well as the kind, knowledgable and supportive staff is all a big reason for that.

Our family’s experience with Newport Academy was life-changing. One of the most important lessons we learned came from Parker’s therapist, Catherine, who taught us to “be comfortable in the uncomfortable.” Recovery isn’t easy, and growth doesn’t happen overnight. Newport helped us understand that healing often comes through working through difficult moments rather than avoiding them. Our “Shift Happens” moment came when we stopped focusing on how long the process would take and started focusing on small daily victories. Instead of looking for one big breakthrough, we learned to appreciate the little signs of progress—better communication, improved confidence, healthier choices, and a willingness to keep trying. As a parent, I realized my job was not to fix everything immediately. My role was to support, encourage, and believe in my daughter while she did the work herself. That change in perspective gave our family hope and allowed us to recognize just how much progress was happening along the way. The therapists, academic staff, and residential team genuinely cared about Parker and challenged her to grow while supporting her every step of the way. We are especially grateful for the guidance, structure, and compassion shown to our family throughout the process. Newport Academy gave our daughter tools she can carry with her for the rest of her life and helped our family see that progress is measured one day at a time. We will always be grateful for the role they played in Parker’s journey.

I have nothing but excellent things to say so far. Their hours are very accommodating for new patients, and everyone I spoke to was kind and caring. Furthermore, they seemed to really get behind my primary goals for treatment, whereas my previous provider seemed to keep dissuading me against it. I have recently attended the PHP program in Glastonbury with great success. The support you get from the providers and staff is phenomenal. The groups are relevant to what is going on and how to stay sober. You feel seen and heard by both the staff and the clients who are there with you. It is a non-judgement zone so you can truly be yourself, learn from others and work on your sobriety journey. Whether this is your first or tenth time, you are always treated with respect. I am now in the IOP and close to graduating to the Outpatient program once or twice a week. I have all the tools I need to be successful, from who to reach out to, to coping skills, to distraction and more.

I was a patient there and Dr. Ong was absolutely amazing. She went well above and beyond by making sure I was placed in the Polytrauma Care Team. Dr. Ong made sure I had all my meds, when I needed someone to talk to I went to her and she listened to me and offered her insight. Dr. Ong was the best Primary Care doctor I ever had and her and nurse Mike made sure I had all my updated vaccinations. Nurse Mike made me feel welcome and very approachable, we talked about sports, about hobbies, and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I was a patient there from June 2024 until November 2025. I relocated but I wished I did not and now I regret it I may go back to Waterbury just so Dr. Ong, Nurse Mike, and The Polytrauma Care Team can handle all of my care. Because at the Waterbury primary care clinic and at the West Haven VA I feel that I received the best care for my Neurological, TBI, Cognitive Function, Mental Health, and, Occupational Therapy needs.

This is absolutely the best of the best medical offices I have ever been to for medical assistance. Every person who works there is friendly, helpful, and polite. I have been a Connecticut resident most of my life, but I have lived in Pennsylvania for a few years, Texas too, and have used their VA medical centers as well. All of them were very good, but if I have to pick one that I believe was/is the absolute Best, I would chose, hands down, Waterbury VA .

Staff is friendly, patient, willing to listen, and quite professional, yet also fairly relaxed and casual. The building itself is quite basic, and the layout is a bit odd, as I had to be guided quite a ways from the lobby to a small room for my intake appointment. Not really a big deal, and not the fault of the staff at all; they're just making the best of the weird layout. They clearly make an effort to keep the place clean as well, though I saw a few small tables that were covered in paperwork and other such things in one room. Didn't see any obvious dust, dirt, or garbage, so it's likely just one instance of mild clutter. Giving 4 stars for treatment effectiveness as I haven't actually begun treatment yet, though they are moving it along as quickly and thoroughly as they can. My intake was yesterday, and med management has already been approved. Just got the call a few minutes ago. This shows how dedicated they are in providing the necessary care to those who need it.

The IOP was very helpful for me. A majority of the staff were very supportive and helpful. There is one woman there “beau” I think is how you spell her name. Always giving me dirty looks, I would wave at her and no response. It made me very uncomfortable in a therapeutic setting.

IOL has been there for me when I was at rock bottom. My first time there in December 2023 was ok, the staff was kind except for one tech from the adult unit... When I went back last December, I ended up staying for Christmas, and the staff did their best to make us happy with gifts, games, etc. I stayed for almost a month and started becoming myself again with help from my favourite tech and my favorite nurses. This was the first place that actually treated me like a human being while being in a psych facility. Most of the staff were still there from the first time and they had a better understanding with what was going on. I was so happy they remembered what had helped me last time.

Evidence based treatment approaches, cognitive and dialectical behavior therapy, individualized treatment plans, a safe and supportive environment, a thorough intake process and the ability to address co-occurring conditions, different levels of care and substance abusive. I was very happy to have learned of this establishment. Many insurances are accepted like Medicaid and Medicare, although certain counselors accept certain insurances. The scheduling coordinators are very friendly and work with you to receive the help you need. It is also worth noting that services are offered for kids and even toddlers, with referalls offered as well.

My mom has been seeing Dr Foreman for at least 10 years and she drives 30 minutes for him even though she's nervous driving. She's always said how nice all of the receptionists are. I would absolutely recommend Compass/ Feeding Hills to anyone wishing to quickly attack the problem at hand. IOP(Eleven weeks of 3x a week centered on group therapy )is not fun but necessary- the patient needs to want to work. 12 step attendance is encouraged but not pushed like a suppository- the counselors Joe and Mike do a great job presenting as educators, not dictator-pontificators. There are no saunas or massages to be had- this is a meat and potatoes place to do what needs to be done.

Compass provided me with the exact structure and connection I needed after sliding into regular substance abuse. The clinicians are supportive, non-judgmental, and help you stay on track with goal-setting. The team fosters a safe environment where you can be you and feel “a part of.” The community feels like a forever family that you can always fall back on, no matter how many times you fall or how you find your path of recovery.
