Doctor Clark doesn't know how to communicate at all. She gave me a ADHD extended release medication , and when I asked her to lower the dose or take me off the extended release because it was too high, she refused. Now shes trying to prescribe me anxiety meds for my ADHD. As far as the counseling goes, all of the counselors are excellent and have helped me allot. If u want counseling for your ADHD, I'd definitely recommend coming here. As far as the doctor, I'd go elsewhere.

Literally saved my life. I've had severe mental health issues my whole life and have been hospitalized, I've been to nearly a dozen therapists and psychiatrists, and I'm only 24 now. Months after I got out of the hospital several years ago and endless therapy sessions I really had given up. I had tried everything I could think of. I couldn't function. I did my best and it wasn't enough. Suicide seemed inevitable. My dear sweet mom was the one that googled up WCMHN and got me to do an intake. I didn't think anything different would happen, but quickly realized that I was being taken very seriously. The therapist I had been seeing told me I would never qualify to get into WCMHN because my condition wasn't "serious enough", but the person doing intake strongly disagreed. They set me up with an actual team of professionals: a therapist, a therapy group, a case manager, a psychiatrist, and a very kind nurse, all in the same place. They even gave me rides to appointments when I needed them. That was two years ago and I'm still a client here in recovery but the improvement I've experienced is nothing I ever thought that ME of all people could even hope for. They are all so kind and respectful and they understand that mental illness is as serious as any other illness. If you have lost all hope, give this a shot. I'm not saying it will be easy, but you will have a huge support team behind you and the resources you need to learn how to be happy and healthy. They deal with all types of serious chronic illnesses and addictions of all kinds. They can help you find housing and a job, and teach you to be independent. They even have free picnics, art classes, etc. for clients. Start with getting more information and see where it takes you. Really could not be more appreciative...I wish everyone knew about Western CT Mental Health.

Mountainside changed my life, plain and simple. I came in during COVID when my casual drinking had turned into a daily necessity. I had tried detox a couple of times, thinking I could just reset and get back to normal on my own. Spoiler: I couldn’t. It took some trial and error, but Mountainside was patient with me every step of the way.
The real shift happened when I finally surrendered and let myself lean into the full support they offered — especially letting God take the lead again. The staff, from intake to long-term recovery coaches, genuinely cared, and it showed. They gave me the space and the tools I needed to get honest, do the work, and actually break free.
If you’re looking for a place that won’t give up on you and will walk with you through the process, Mountainside is it.

Mountainside Treatment Center was a life changing experience for me. I have been struggling to stay sober since my first time in treatment back in 2018. I have been able to put together long stints of soberity and unfortunately more than a few relapses.
This latest came in April of 2025. After going into detox I made the best decision of my life by going back to the place that gave me the tools to put together 18 months. When I arrived I was going to stay for a "tune up" and spend 2 weeks. Within a week I knew I had to stay so I put in 5 weeks.
My therapist Krystyna was the best and I continued to have the same with my therapist in IOP Lauren. I can go on and on about all the great things about Mountainside. I continue to stay involved through the amazing Alumni program on a monthly basis. The open AA meetings on Friday night are great.
It says a lot about a place when you look forward to going back to visit on a monthly basis !
THANK YOU MOUNTAINSIDE for giving me the tools for a happy healthy life. 🙏🏽💪🏽❤️

MCCA new milford has helped me so much in so many aspects of my life. I personally would have never signed myself up for the IOP classes but im glad court mandated me to take them after I got pulled over drunk. Sue is such an amazing counselor and makes you feel comfortable to be able to talk about my issues and be able to work on them. I am a very stubborn person and she helped me realize that some of the things were not right. I still continue to see her once a month even after my program was done. I have recommended a few friends to go see her at MCCA because it could help them better their life and battle with issues just like it happened to me.

My class was court ordered, but it has almost been a blessing in disguise. I’ve learned so much, even though the curriculum they have to read out of and engage with the class, is a bit outdated, Alyssa and Sue still manage to bring the topics up to date to help you relate and retain. Sue, Alyssa and Jess…some of the most compassionate and understanding people you could ever ask and hope for going through this life choice of committing to better not only your health, your mental health. You’re with so many great people. Everyone conquering and learning about themselves and each other together. Hearing that you’re truly not alone, really is a powerful part of healing.
My time with MCCA may not have been by my choice, but I am grateful for the tools and personal will power it has given me to be the better version of myself. Sober.

I was provided with great care no matter the time of day or night. My family therapist moe, helped my parent and I start to grow a relationship I never thought id have. My CC's were amazing people! Its really hard to go into residential knowing you wont be home for a long time, but all of my staff made it so much easier and fun. It makes a big difference when your staff and treatment team can have fun and want to be there with all of you so thank you guys for that! The food i will say i struggled with. It wasn't the best tasting or most diverse menu but some days it was pretty good. All of the teachers at Newport are amazing. They make learning fun and relaxed while also still encouraging you to get your work done. I was scared to go to residential but Newport was such a great experience for me and has helped me through things I thought I couldn't even ever live with. My experience was absolutely amazing. I was in the Mustang pod, October 25 (2023) - January 7 (2024). I was previously at a rehab in Minnesota and it was a unanimous decision that I needed more treatment. From the very first day I got there everyone was so welcoming, kind and accepting. I have severe allergies to egg and peanut so that also gives me really bad food anxiety. The nutritionist there was so so helpful and made sure I always had a fulfilling meal, from Breakfast to evening snack to the food I have to eat before breakfast (meds). Since I was in the substance abuse pod, we were able to go off site to NA/AA meetings. That helped me immensely. Kayla and Lisa the counselors for this pod are literally heaven sent. I love them so much and never made anything I talked about feel embarrassing or stupid. All the activities we had throughout the day like Gong, Equine, Music therapy, Tea making, Yoga, Gym, Nutrition, Adventure (S/O J.D), Art, Alumni, MMA (Love Vince, he's awesome.), and others I probably forgot to mention. For school, the teachers I had helped me a lot and made sure I was caught up and beyond where I needed to be in order to pass my sophomore year. (Ayeeee shout out Chris) There was quite a bit of drama, but nothing intolerable. The only thing I really disliked was how immature some of the staff was, making some people in my house (Dove) feel invalidated etc. That obviously isn't something that changed how my entire experience was but i was also one of those people they didn't 'like' for a little bit. I think they need to be more mindful when choosing who to hire. When we just have chill time in between activities, the CC's were so fun and easy to talk to. They all had such a huge impact on my stay. And the cooks!!! Holy crap. They kept me feeling included 3x a day every single day. When we had continental breakfast, they would make me egg free muffins, or the French toast bake egg free. And when it was something I just didn't like, I was able to eat a Sun butter and Jelly, Pasta, or cereal. I never went to bed or woke up hungry, unlike my other experience elsewhere. Overall it was such an eye opening experience and forever changed my life for the better. Also they did an amazing job administrating my Vivitrol injection monthly. One of the CC'S would go in there with me and hold my hand and talk to me. I'm sober to this day, (2 years coming up!!) Reading these reviews makes me upset, because in these programs you have to want to get better. You have to try and if you don't you're going to have a bad experience. It sucks at first, I would literally cry every week before, during, and after family therapy, but it's not because the therapist is bad. These 1 star reviews are solely personal. It has nothing to do with the staff. They're simply doing their job and making sure you are putting in the work to get better. Its not supposed to be fun. But if you put the hard stuff aside and focus on petting the horses, or making your tea bags when it's that time, you will find it to be tolerable. A good attitude = good outcomes.
ANYWAYS if an actual human is reading this tell everyone I said sup

I was a resident in 1992 to 1994. Wellspring helped me tremendously. Especially the Adventure Program where we would go on hikes. I found a love of nature and friendships for a lifetime. The current director, Dan Murray was my therapist and he was so gentle and caring. He cared a great deal about all of his patients. Many of us are still friends and remember him so fondly.
I also went on to Angelus House at 18 and finished my senior year of high school at the local public high school. The transition helped me gain confidence and lifelong friendships from there as well.
Thank you for the lessons. Many sunk in much later in life, but you helped plant the seeds.

Inter Community,
40 Coventry St, Hartford CT.
I’ve had a very good experience with InterCommunity Health. The staff is welcoming, respectful, and genuinely cares about patient well-being. From the front desk to the doctors and counselors, everyone takes the time to listen and provide support without judgment.
Their integrated approach to healthcare—covering physical, behavioral, and mental health—makes it easier to get comprehensive care in one place. The medical team explains treatment options clearly and works with you to find what fits best.
Wait times can vary, but overall, the quality of care and compassion shown by the providers more than make up for it. They also offer helpful resources for recovery, wellness, and community support, which shows they’re truly invested in helping people improve their lives.

Waterbury, CT | VA Connecticut Healthcare System - Waterbury CBOC provides behavioral healthcare services and mental health treatment services to Veterans and military personnel in the Waterbury, Connecticut area. If addiction is the primary diagnosis, clients may need to seek treatment at a drug rehab center. VA Connecticut Healthcare System – Waterbury CBO | Treatments Programs Payment Options | I was a patient there and Dr. Ong was absolutely amazing. She went well above and beyond by making sure I was placed in the Polytrauma Care Team. Dr. Ong made sure I had all my meds, when I needed someone to talk to I went to her and she listened to me and offered her insight. Dr. Ong was the best Primary Care doctor I ever had and her and nurse Mike made sure I had all my updated vaccinations. Nurse Mike made me feel welcome and very approachable, we talked about sports, about hobbies, and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I was a patient there from June 2024 until November 2025. I relocated but I wished I did not and now I regret it I may go back to Waterbury just so Dr. Ong, Nurse Mike, and The Polytrauma Care Team can handle all of my care. Because at the Waterbury primary care clinic and at the West Haven VA I feel that I received the best care for my Neurological, TBI, Cognitive Function, Mental Health, and, Occupational Therapy needs.

This is absolutely the best of the best medical offices I have ever been to for medical assistance. Every person who works there is friendly, helpful, and polite. I have been a Connecticut resident most of my life, but I have lived in Pennsylvania for a few years, Texas too, and have used their VA medical centers as well. All of them were very good, but if I have to pick one that I believe was/is the absolute Best, I would chose, hands down, Waterbury VA .

The clinic works with children, adolescents and adults through services such as inpa | Treatments Programs Payment Options | The IOP was very helpful for me. A majority of the staff were very supportive and helpful. There is one woman there “beau” I think is how you spell her name. Always giving me dirty looks, I would wave at her and no response. It made me very uncomfortable in a therapeutic setting.

IOL has been there for me when I was at rock bottom. My first time there in December 2023 was ok, the staff was kind except for one tech from the adult unit... When I went back last December, I ended up staying for Christmas, and the staff did their best to make us happy with gifts, games, etc. I stayed for almost a month and started becoming myself again with help from my favourite tech and my favorite nurses. This was the first place that actually treated me like a human being while being in a psych facility. Most of the staff were still there from the first time and they had a better understanding with what was going on. I was so happy they remembered what had helped me last time.
