Absolutely wonderful place. I was at MCCA for detox and in service treatment at McDonough house. The counselors there are fantastic. They fully understand addiction and are there to help at any time of day. Emily and her team went above and beyond for me when I needed help the most and for that I am forever grateful. Thank you to Chris for not giving up on me and being the best counselor I could ask for also April,Tony and Michelle for never judging me and always having the best smile. I can’t say enough about MCCA but I would not have been able to stay sober without their help.

I can't say enough wonderful things, about this extraordinary place. Initially, being from San Diego, after reading the terrible reviews, I was so apprehensive, reluctant to go here, to the point of getting sick, thinking this place sounds awful. I couldn't have been more wrong. Shame on these people writing those terrible reviews. It's a bunch lies, on truths, fictitious statements. I went in expecting the worst. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY UPON ENTERING THE BUILDING, I KNEW HOW LONG THOSE REVIEWS WERE. IT WAS RIGHT IN MY FACE I've never experienced so many wonderful people, all in one place. You'd be lucky to get just one kind person, but in this place, the love is everywhere. I mean it. I can't say enough. No judgement, no looking down, no feelings of shame because of the way they speak to you. To the contrary, they treat you wonderfully, with kindness and compassion and with a real desire to help. God bless every single person at this facility. They truly are doing GOD'S work. Angels, here on earth, to help those in pain, we numb ourselves, with the drugs, just to get through another day. If I can do it, after my hellish life, I stand confident, anyone is capable. This place touched my heart. I go by actions and their actions at CT Counseling, tell me all I need to know. They ;I've what they're doing and truly care about other people, with a genuine desire to help others. There is no question about it.

Like ALL programs in or out patient if you WANT to stop and only need the means, guidance and support to do it than this Is the place . If it was forced upon you or just not ready then may be the place but it may take you more than 1 attempt . In the beginning it’s about reducing amount of your intake substance as you increase amount of medication. That amount and that pace is unique to the individual and CCC recognizes that and also respects that . As long as you trend in proper direction and continue to show progress you have the support of your Counselor. Once stabilized they develop your treatment plan. When you have decreased and eliminated substances and have found a comfortable level of medication dosage that is when you now replaced your bad habit routine with a daily monitored stabilized routine that also is unique to the comfort level of individual discussing a wide range of topics with your assigned counselor: once trust is earned having clean random monthly tests you don’t have to be at the facility unless you chose to and you can begin to take home monitored medication to responsibly proceed with your outpatient program. Your counselor will encourage the timing the is best to decrease at the pace that works for you until you are done and substance free. So much better than 30 day, 90 day ,12 month 0r any predetermined length of time programs because every person is unique whether they feel confident they can do it in a year, 3 yrs, 5 , 10 or stay with this support system as a new part of life what is important is that new life is what you WANTED to achieve and join the team of success stories! In most other reviews I agree that it is about money for the center , but what business , paying their employees ,is not about making money to stay afloat? Also not all counselors are ex addicts that have felt & know exactly what & how we feel, but we can open up & let them learn about the uncontrollable disease & struggles of how our mind works!

I go to therapy here and look forward to going. There's nothing difficult about going or making appointments. I was recently really impressed and shocked to be honest, to have been given a Christmas card with a gift card to Kohl's for the holidays. I wasn't expecting that and I think it is really nice of them do to do that when they certainly don't have to and i doubt any other similar places do that.

I’m here to lay down my 5-star review re: Rocky Marotta, M.D., PhD.. And to also give you ONE, single word of advice based on my experience with him. I met Dr. Rocco Marotta way back in 2012 when I was in my early thirties (yup! Still just a kid) and I knew nothing about effective mental health. Or, even life! At first, I thought I had all of the answers and still intended to do things MY way. (That may seem all too familiar to those who offered negative reviews re: Silver Hill Hospital & its physicians? All I can say to that is: “Stick around and keep coming!”) But it truly wasn’t long before my behavior began to change bc Rocky helped me to realize that MY way was, Uhmm, completely distorted and shall we say, not exactly working?! Knowing how brilliant the man actually is, I deeply respected him and slowly, things began to change for me. As they can indeed change for you! In fact, I had walked a very dark path until Rocky shined a great big light of HOPE onto me and my situation. Rocky has a tendency to take notes on all of his patients. I bet you didn’t know that. Yes he does. He takes notes, reads those notes and refers to those notes. That is CARING! But to further, he listens to what his patients have to say. He gets to know them, often times, better than they know themselves. Once you understand that- you can’t help but to start listening too. Get it? Makes sense? The man also makes critical recommendations… the kind which save lives. I’m here to tell you, he saved mine. Of this, I’m whole-heartedly convinced. Rocky not only saved my life- but at times like this, years later, when I reflect on myself…and HIM— I realize that he also helped me to save my SOUL. So if you’re reading this for yourself, or for someone you deeply love ~ let that SAME magic, that SAME hope and those same miracles happen for you and/or them. “How?” you ask? Well, it’s much more simple than you realize! All I had to do was listen. And I’m telling you that all you have to do is just that: Listen. Because these days, again, a decade and a half later… I no longer have the same stinkin’ roadblocks of mental illness obstructing my every path. I don’t suffer anymore. I don’t miss opportunities. I’m not depressed, or anxious, manic or, taking my life for granted. Nope. Not me. My life is balanced and joyful— and most of the time I’m helping someone else! (Can you even imagine?!) And WHO do I thank for this? Undoubtedly, Rocky & my Family (& Jo!) Without them, Lord only knows where I’d be. And I love and honor EACH of them for that. For never giving up on me. For letting me make mistakes. For loving me, too. Today, I’m an active, trusted, dedicated member of society (& even multiple Board Member!! lol) And YOU CAN DO IT ALL TOO. Whatever you want… Just not before you’re actually ready. I already told you HOW in this Review. Finally, I’m not at all surprised that Rocky Marotta founded the “Lodge” at Silver Hill for Neuropsychiatric Disorders. Or, that he’s now the Director of the Center for the Treatment and Study of Neuropsychiatric Disorders. Or that he uses the terms “HEALING” and/or “HEALED!” Or that he’s even the former Medical Director of Silver Hill Hospital Because, quite frankly, he’s just that good! That excellent! So remember this, the next time you’re feeling hopeless or symptomatic. That these are the types of physicians (ie. *Dr. Matthew Griepp, Dr. Rocky, etc etc) which make up Silver Hill Hospital and who are available to you. Just learn to listen … don’t over complicate things and watch your entire life change. Thanks and good luck, ADL.

We all have different needs and I can't tell you that Silver Hill is going to solve all your problems. If you are thinking about going here, Silver Hill did "save my life" as all the other reviews say. I wasn't well for a long time and was controlled by my depression for seven and a half years. I thought nothing would help and have had traumatic experiences in the hospital before. When I heard the word "hospital", I panicked, but I wasn't safe and needed support. When I actually got there, I found community, I was given strategies to live, I got on the right medication (finally), I took up hobbies again, and I was able to feel again instead of be in that empty void. It's been a year now and while I'm still processing trauma, I am happy. I control my life and I hope you can find that too.

Don’t overlook, this is an overall terrific hospital even if you have to travel to get here. I was at Silver Hill for many months and experienced The Triumph Program and ACU adult inpatient (scroll for ACU). When I went to the Triumph Program at Barrett House and it was a life changing experience in the best way. The Barrett RCs (staff who are at the house) are very friendly and helpful and give skills coaching to any resident when needed. The Barrett clinicians are amazing, they are so knowledgeable, supportive, kind, understanding and give the pushes to do the hard things that help you grow. Dr. Haas is incredibly smart and an expert at what she does, I was actually flabbergasted at some moments when she could tell what was going on when I didn’t fully. The weekday groups are on a 6 week rotation and even though I went through the rotation multiple times I still felt like I learned something new and had a different takeaway each time. The Barrett House is very nice and the large hospital campus is great to walk around. There were good vibes at the house and it was often agreed upon by the group that this was such a unique space where we could understand each other in ways other people can’t and how wonderful it was to have that community. The one and probably only issue I had was the food services for the hospital. At Barrett (started during the time I was there) everyone eats at the house family style for all meals. For those with dietary restrictions or accommodations, a menu was filled out for each day of the week with the foods on the “always available menu”, issue being many times they won’t send what you asked for if it had specific details (that could be accommodated) and for the food platters for the whole house often where missing items of food. When I was leaving there seemed to be efforts going to fix these issues however it didn’t happen while I was there. The ACU does not apply to the 5 stars. I would give it probably a 3 star. The actual unit is outdated making it very hot in the summertime and the food area which is in the same room as the common space is quite tight. That room is pretty much the only place to socialize besides a small room with a tv. Many of the floor staff (the psych techs) were really trying their best to help patients but some I wondered why they chose this job. The RNs were helpful and doing their best to alleviate patients problems. It can be a hard place to be at times but that’s the nature of an inpatient unit and overall I would say it is one of better I’ve been to in comparison to many others. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who asked

MCCA new milford has helped me so much in so many aspects of my life. I personally would have never signed myself up for the IOP classes but im glad court mandated me to take them after I got pulled over drunk. Sue is such an amazing counselor and makes you feel comfortable to be able to talk about my issues and be able to work on them. I am a very stubborn person and she helped me realize that some of the things were not right. I still continue to see her once a month even after my program was done. I have recommended a few friends to go see her at MCCA because it could help them better their life and battle with issues just like it happened to me.

My class was court ordered, but it has almost been a blessing in disguise. I’ve learned so much, even though the curriculum they have to read out of and engage with the class, is a bit outdated, Alyssa and Sue still manage to bring the topics up to date to help you relate and retain. Sue, Alyssa and Jess…some of the most compassionate and understanding people you could ever ask and hope for going through this life choice of committing to better not only your health, your mental health. You’re with so many great people. Everyone conquering and learning about themselves and each other together. Hearing that you’re truly not alone, really is a powerful part of healing. My time with MCCA may not have been by my choice, but I am grateful for the tools and personal will power it has given me to be the better version of myself. Sober.

After attending MCCA for an entire year, I can honestly say what an amazing and supportive program Director Laura Boff , the clinicians, and the staff have created within an underserved community like Bridgeport. The team at MCCA has taken the time to educate themselves and genuinely welcome the community they serve in an authentic and compassionate way. I am one of many clients who have received services through MCCA, and I can proudly speak to the support, understanding, and care they provide. Every session truly felt like being part of a supportive community. The stigma surrounding programs like MCCA is completely inaccurate because instead, I found a space where I felt welcomed, protected, and understood. Not only did they provide me with the support I needed throughout my recovery journey, but they also provided me and others with valuable resources and tools to continue moving forward in life. Thank you to MCCA for going above and beyond during my time there, and a very special thank you to Laura for believing in me and encouraging me every step of the way. Best, GRF

Newport was such a helpful and worth it choice for my recovery. I was provided with great care no matter the time of day or night. My family therapist moe, helped my parent and I start to grow a relationship I never thought id have. My CC's were amazing people! Its really hard to go into residential knowing you wont be home for a long time, but all of my staff made it so much easier and fun. It makes a big difference when your staff and treatment team can have fun and want to be there with all of you so thank you guys for that! The food i will say i struggled with. It wasn't the best tasting or most diverse menu but some days it was pretty good. All of the teachers at Newport are amazing. They make learning fun and relaxed while also still encouraging you to get your work done. I was scared to go to residential but Newport was such a great experience for me and has helped me through things I thought I couldn't even ever live with. I would definitely recommend Newport to any adolescent or family looking to find healthy and helpful treatment with mental health.

Genuinely a great experience. I received a lot of the help I’ve needed for years. The family therapy was very helpful with Gloria in creating a better communication system between me and my parents so far. The food was good when Ben made it, but it wasn’t the most balanced. My experience was absolutely amazing. I was in the Mustang pod, October 25 (2023) - January 7 (2024). I was previously at a rehab in Minnesota and it was a unanimous decision that I needed more treatment. From the very first day I got there everyone was so welcoming, kind and accepting. I have severe allergies to egg and peanut so that also gives me really bad food anxiety. The nutritionist there was so so helpful and made sure I always had a fulfilling meal, from Breakfast to evening snack to the food I have to eat before breakfast (meds). Since I was in the substance abuse pod, we were able to go off site to NA/AA meetings. That helped me immensely. Kayla and Lisa the counselors for this pod are literally heaven sent. I love them so much and never made anything I talked about feel embarrassing or stupid. All the activities we had throughout the day like Gong, Equine, Music therapy, Tea making, Yoga, Gym, Nutrition, Adventure (S/O J.D), Art, Alumni, MMA (Love Vince, he's awesome.), and others I probably forgot to mention. For school, the teachers I had helped me a lot and made sure I was caught up and beyond where I needed to be in order to pass my sophomore year. (Ayeeee shout out Chris) There was quite a bit of drama, but nothing intolerable. The only thing I really disliked was how immature some of the staff was, making some people in my house (Dove) feel invalidated etc. That obviously isn't something that changed how my entire experience was but i was also one of those people they didn't 'like' for a little bit. I think they need to be more mindful when choosing who to hire. When we just have chill time in between activities, the CC's were so fun and easy to talk to. They all had such a huge impact on my stay. And the cooks!!! Holy crap. They kept me feeling included 3x a day every single day. When we had continental breakfast, they would make me egg free muffins, or the French toast bake egg free. And when it was something I just didn't like, I was able to eat a Sun butter and Jelly, Pasta, or cereal. I never went to bed or woke up hungry, unlike my other experience elsewhere. Overall it was such an eye opening experience and forever changed my life for the better. Also they did an amazing job administrating my Vivitrol injection monthly. One of the CC'S would go in there with me and hold my hand and talk to me. I'm sober to this day, (2 years coming up!!) Reading these reviews makes me upset, because in these programs you have to want to get better. You have to try and if you don't you're going to have a bad experience. It sucks at first, I would literally cry every week before, during, and after family therapy, but it's not because the therapist is bad. These 1 star reviews are solely personal. It has nothing to do with the staff. They're simply doing their job and making sure you are putting in the work to get better. Its not supposed to be fun. But if you put the hard stuff aside and focus on petting the horses, or making your tea bags when it's that time, you will find it to be tolerable. A good attitude = good outcomes. ANYWAYS if an actual human is reading this tell everyone I said sup

Westport House is well managed and well run. It has all the amenities you could ask for, with resources to get every aspect of your life back on track. The management and staff cares about you, and that's important when trying to better yourself. They really give you an upper hand. I hope I don't need to, but I would recommend anyone to stay here to get their life back on track, and I would again in a heartbeat.

After years of trying everything we could think of, my wife and I finally found Westport House. Our son was admitted quickly and efficiently, and, from that point on, our experience was incredible. After a couple of months we saw a noticeable change in our son. The staff was very timely in their correspondence with us and always treated us appropriately. During his time there, our son became actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, obtained employment, and began treating us and others with a level of respect we did not know he was capable of. He stayed there for 7 months, and I can say, it was very much worth every penny. Our son is still sober today and continues to attend the AA meetings that he went to during his time at Westport House. We cannot thank Westport House enough for giving us our son back. After 7 painful years, the change that he was able to make in his life is incredible, and it is all thanks to the great staff and services at Westport House.

After being in and out of many different rehabs, it was at Westport House that I learned how to live a brand new life. The staff was kind, loving, and compassionate. They showed me the way up and out of the horrible rut I was in. They also helped my family understand addiction, and what they needed to do to help me, and themselves. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, and the incredibly supportive! Being able to see their therapists and clinical team was also essential in aiding my recovery. I'm so grateful for the life Westport House gave me.

This facility is usually mandated by court order in most cases clients are involuntarily participating in a program that will help them with their Mental Health issues with anger and any substance abuse if applicable. I would like to say due to the new Fresh Faces and Lively Souls mcaa is making a comeback. I highly recommended and the administration is top tier. Even though this establishment has been in this community for many years the percentage of Rehabilitation is tremendously low throughout the community of Waterbury and Statewide. Thus we are referring to less than 10% of clients actually have success rates. However hope should not be given up and MCCA should be given another opportunity because they are trying their best to make a dreadful experience into a positive one. Shout outs to the director and Jackie who has been at the establishment for over three decades.

I want to give my deepest gratitude to my case worker, Alissa Capaldo from the REACH Program, who has been nothing short of incredible during one of the hardest periods of my life. After leaving a domestic situation while pregnant and caring for my toddler boys. I found myself without somewhere to go but protecting my kids was my first concern and asking for help wasn’t easy, especially when you are vulnerable, scared, and trying to protect your children. I was connected to Alissa through a referral and I can say I have never met a caseworker in any organization that stepped in with this much urgency, compassion and unwavering dedication. No matter the stopping blocks that came in my way at times, she continues to lift me up and support me without hesitation. Alissa is now working tirelessly to secure housing resources for me and my children, while also helping us gather essential supplies for my babies and connecting us to every bit of support we are able to obtain. Alissa resources and referral have been awesome. Alissa checks in consistently, advocates for us, and makes sure nothing is overlooked. I can say what I appreciate the most is Alissa never judged me, never made me feel small, and never make me feel like I’m a burden. She treats me with respect, patience, and genuine kindness. I am also able to express myself which isn’t easy in my situation. She’s given me hope again. I want to say thank you to Alissa’s supervisors for having someone like Alissa on their team. She represents the REACH Program with professionalism, empathy, and heart. Workers like her change lives, and mine is proof. Due to Alissa’s dedication and compassion, my children and I are finally moving toward stability and peace. I am truly grateful for everything she has done and continues to do. She is a blessing, and I will never disappoint her no forget the impact she has had on our lives.

a beautiful and nurturing environment with staff that has changed many lives. having had experience with a multitude of treatment facilities, Wellspring is like no other place. it offers stability and sanctuary for the residence there. treatment is an uncomfortable, confronting, and sometimes painful process, but those are the hills one climbs when healing. Wellspring challenges the residents to step up as members of a community and be accountable for how their actions impact those around them. the plant & animal program there offers the residents a chance to pour love into other living creatures, helping mirror the love they are capable of pouring into themselves. There are many challenges at any treatment facility, but I truly believe that Wellspring navigates those challenges better than most places. Not everyone leaves healed, for many its just the beginning of their journey. Many of the girls I was there with continued to struggle upon leaving, but we all reflect on what we learned at Wellspring with love and appreciation. It may not be for everyone but that doesn't discount the healing it has offered to countless families. No place is perfect but my family and I will forever be grateful for Wellspring.

I highly recommend the residential Adolescent Intensive Program (AIP) at Wellspring CT to anyone looking for a healing, loving, intentional program focused on helping teenage females recover from -- or at least cope with -- anxiety, depression, and trauma. I'll start by saying I'm a parent, not a resident, but I checked with my daughter (P.) and she agrees with everything I say in this review. P. has struggled for years with depression and anxiety, and we tried various other programs before Wellspring. None of the other programs we checked out worked for us or for P. We have been very wary of residential programs because of everything we're read about the troubled teen industry (TTI). The difference between Wellspring and other programs lies in the genuine care provided by Wellspring staff, combined with a peaceful and beautiful living environment in which residents are given time and space to rediscover some joy in the world. Key to all of this are the wonderful people who work with the residents. The director of Wellspring AIP, Joe Mancione, sets the tone for the entire program. He clearly genuinely cares for the residents he's working with. You have absolutely no sense that Joe or his team are in it for the money (unlike so many other programs we considered). P. has worked with a bunch of therapists, but we've never seen anyone come close to Joee in terms of connection, insight, and ability. His ability to lovingly challenge negative thoughts and emotions is breathtaking to observe, and P. truly flourished under his care. Every staff member working with Joe in the program was honestly wonderful: gentle, caring, real. The residents live together in a big old farmhouse, surrounded by beautiful grounds. They cook together, clean, take responsibility for caring for farm animals (goats, chickens, a rabbit), play games, make music, meditate. The environment is one of calm beauty, and it was possible to watch new residents slowly come to the realization they were somewhere safe where they start to heal again. If this all sounds a bit new-agey, I'd also say that the staff are all highly trained and very intentional in the environment they create. They really do know what they are doing. If, like us, you despaired of ever finding a residential program that is genuinely caring and healing, take a look at Wellspring. P. and I are so happy that we did!

I was here from 1992-1994, wellspring made me feel safe and cared for, my therapist Joe B was amazing, so caring and understanding, and the staff specifically Heather and Andy were like role models for many of us...I learned so much here, how to care for animals, and garden. We went on trips, Cape Cod being my favorite and did things I never would have been able to do if it wasn't for Wellspring. As well as forming lasting friendships ...Thank you for giving the tools I needed to be the person I am today. You all are amazing ❤️
