I was told I had 5 days to find another psychiatric provider because they were canceling all of my appointments. All providers around the area have at least a 6 week waiting period! It gave me less than a week to call around to figure out how I'm going to have enough refills for highly necessary psychiatric medication! I'm on these for a reason!!

I’ve unfortunately been to 9 inpatient treatments in Iowa and Hazelden in Minnesota. Powell is easily the best one in Iowa and their programming and staff are right on par with Hazelden. Which is one of the best (maybe the best) treatment in the USA. I highly recommend Powell if you or a loved one is serious about getting sober. They know what it takes to get sober and more importantly what to do to stay sober! 5 ⭐️

First step literally saved my life on more than one occasion. I read these other reviews that sadly give them a 1 star making there rating very low. Unfortunately not everyone is ready for recovery and it sounds like these were the ppl who were not quite there yet. You can not blame a facility for your daughter not staying in the program. She chose that path, not First step. Yes there are women fresh out of jail, everyone deserves a chance at recovery. Stating that made for a hostile environment is ridiculous. I have been in recovery for years. And was a chronic relapser. I had been to other treatment facilities. 7 others to be exact and could never make It past 60 to 90 days. I came to first step and managed to get 18 months before my own stupidity caused a short relapse. I then went back to first step with no judgements from any of them and now have over 2 years clean sober with a better life than I could imagine and a recovery that is string with the tools I needed to gain from treatment. I recommend first step to any woman struggling with addiction.

I had to take alcohol classes at Urban dreams December 2024, and I can honestly say it was a very positive experience. The staff at Urban Dreams were always professionals, respectful, and supportive, which made the process much easier to go through. Our Instructor, Kristen Steele, went above and beyond in every class. She was not only knowledgeable but also approachable, making sure that everyone felt comfortable and understood the material. Kristen shared a lot of valuable information that wasn't just about completing a requirement, but about really learning how alcohol can impact our lives and how to make better choices moving forward. I also had a substance abuse evaluation with Felicia Chumley, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She is one of the kindest, most attentive people I've met in this process. Felicia made feel completely comfortable from the start, which really helped me open up and be honest about my situation. Felicia made what could have been a stressful experience into something positive and encouraging. I would definitely recommend Urban Dreams to anyone who needs this classes or simply wants to gain more understanding about alcohol and its effects.

YSS saved my life, then gave me purpose in life. I was a very troubled kid, a burden on society, and my parents were at their wit's end. They were desperate when they turned to YSS. And while I fought it at first (couldn't stand authority), I eventually surrendered to the program/the process and my life turned 180 degrees. Today, as a person in long-term recovery, my purpose is to create hope and opportunities for others that are struggling. So very grateful to YSS, as they believed in me more than I believed in myself.

I was reading through these comments and I wanted to address a few things. I've been there for 3 months. I've been at another treatment centers in the past like UCS. A lot of the things the comments are true about places like UCS. Where they shame patient or we're running some sort of financial scam. Covert action is absolutely not one of those places. Everyone always very friendly to me I feel like I have a room full of friends every time I go there. My counselor is lovely she's always very sweet to me shes concerned legitimately about my needs. They're very well priced I think it's $70 for a week if you don't have insurance. Which is only $5 a day and as a user I always seem to be able to scrounge up enough money to get high I can definitely come up with 5 bucks and I did. The program is effective is the first time that I've been cleaned in nearly 15 years. This will be the first Christmas I've been sober with my family. But not only save lives there but they give you a life worth saving. And I saw some comments about Judy and I think she is an absolute darling I love her to death and she is the nicest most caring doctor I've ever met in my entire life. She always remembers my name just by my face. And she always treats me like a long lost friend. I look forward to speaking with her every month when I come to get my renewal. All in all it's a wonderful place and I thank them very much for giving my life back 😀

At first, this therapist seemed genuinely caring and committed to helping. I opened up and tried to trust the process, believing I was in a safe, supportive space. However, over time, I began to notice a pattern of boundary crossing that left me feeling confused and uneasy. The therapeutic relationship started to feel inconsistent sometimes overly personal, other times abruptly distant. Eventually, without warning or a proper transition plan, she ended our work together. There was no support offered for finding another provider, no referrals, and no discussion about next steps just a sudden termination that left me feeling abandoned and overwhelmed. Therapists have a responsibility not only to maintain appropriate boundaries, but also to ensure continuity of care. This experience was the opposite. I was left feeling like I was too much, rather than met with compassion and professionalism. If you're someone who needs stability and clear, ethical guidance in therapy use caution if booking with therapist in Webster City.
