I’ve unfortunately been to 9 inpatient treatments in Iowa and Hazelden in Minnesota. Powell is easily the best one in Iowa and their programming and staff are right on par with Hazelden. Which is one of the best (maybe the best) treatment in the USA. I highly recommend Powell if you or a loved one is serious about getting sober. They know what it takes to get sober and more importantly what to do to stay sober! 5 ⭐️

Very unsatisfied with the Practitioner's. I saw 3 different one's. Was not correctly diagnosed and did not receive the correct medications for my situation and body chemistry. I felt unheard and very frustrated. Would NOT recommend them!!!

I had to take alcohol classes at Urban dreams December 2024, and I can honestly say it was a very positive experience. The staff at Urban Dreams were always professionals, respectful, and supportive, which made the process much easier to go through.
Our Instructor, Kristen Steele, went above and beyond in every class. She was not only knowledgeable but also approachable, making sure that everyone felt comfortable and understood the material. Kristen shared a lot of valuable information that wasn't just about completing a requirement, but about really learning how alcohol can impact our lives and how to make better choices moving forward.
I also had a substance abuse evaluation with Felicia Chumley, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She is one of the kindest, most attentive people I've met in this process. Felicia made feel completely comfortable from the start, which really helped me open up and be honest about my situation. Felicia made what could have been a stressful experience into something positive and encouraging.
I would definitely recommend Urban Dreams to anyone who needs this classes or simply wants to gain more understanding about alcohol and its effects.

I wish I could give 0 stars. The veterinarian office down the road would provide better care than the OB/GY doctors. The nurses were great, but the doctors were unskilled. Between the ER doctor freaking out and the OB doctor being unprofessional and crude humor. Drive 30 minutes down the road to Liberty…

I came to see Dr. Cornet, my orthopedic surgeon. I usually see him at HCCH. He recommended I come here rather than waiting until October. Staff at this hospital are sometimes short or rude or struggle with their roles when I deal with them by phone for work or in regard to the person I take care of. But I'm done. Called this morning right after 8am after getting a text over the weekend telling me to download an app (I don't download random stuff I get told to download by a unrecognized phone number) so I called to find out what to do. Was given no information on where to go, just to come early. Called again when I arrived so that I could park by the correct door. Went where I was told & when I told the girl at the window who I was & why I was there I was told to go to the front of the hospital to register. I asked if I could please fill out the paperwork there. Girl condescendingly says "I can call an attendant with a wheelchair to take you' with a "I'm over this look on her face. I asked why I wasn't told I needed to register at the front of the hospital during one of the two times I called asking questions this morning. No answer just a repeat of the line about getting me a wheelchair in the same tone with the same look (I walked in unaided). Appointment cancelled. I'll stick to HCCH in Bethany.

YSS saved my life, then gave me purpose in life. I was a very troubled kid, a burden on society, and my parents were at their wit's end. They were desperate when they turned to YSS. And while I fought it at first (couldn't stand authority), I eventually surrendered to the program/the process and my life turned 180 degrees.
Today, as a person in long-term recovery, my purpose is to create hope and opportunities for others that are struggling.

I attended cfr in person in 2022. I feel that they listened well. i really appreciated all the resources they helped with. It was a great start to where I am at in my sobriety and recovery. The different groups kept it interesting and when there was an unsafe moment they handled it extremly well. Only thing that was challanging was the frequent change of staff. but it was one great person in exchange for the next.

Since I've moved here from Colorado, I had difficulty getting on medically assisted treatment (MAT) CFR was the only agency that really made an effort in scheduling me a s a p, they seem me & assessed me right away. Got me set up with groups & individual counselling that have been beneficial to me. Thank you very much April, Dana, Jessie & Caroline for your help & patience with me because I know I've been difficult at making my appointments & other places would have discharged me by now. magine your car sputtering on the side of the road, and instead of a mechanic popping the hood, they pull out a catalog, start listing parts to order, and tell you, "If you doubt my diagnosis, I'll refer you to an auto electrician." This, unfortunately, is precisely how my experience with broadlawns felt, and I'm utterly fed up.
I, like many, seek medical care when something is wrong. I've made repeated trips to broadlawns hoping for answers and relief. Yet, after visit after visit, I've yet to encounter a single doctor who has taken the time to truly investigate and diagnose what's ailing me. It feels like a perpetual cycle of appointments without progress, a frustrating drain on my time and energy.and if they could not diagnose me then why are they writing prescriptions for me?
The dismissive attitude only compounded my distress. Standing in the emergency room, clearly seeking urgent care, I was asked by a front-desk staff member, "Have you tried coming to another hospital yet?" The implication was that my presence there was a nuisance, a joke even. Seriously? This is the place people turn to in their most vulnerable moments, not a place to be met with such blatant indifference.

I was told I had 5 days to find another psychiatric provider because they were canceling all of my appointments. All providers around the area have at least a 6 week waiting period! It gave me less than a week to call around to figure out how I'm going to have enough refills for highly necessary psychiatric medication! I'm on these for a reason!!

I really appreciate how kind and courteous everyone is. It took a while to get an initial appointment to see a new psychiatrist and therapist when I first moved to the area, but there is such a nationwide shortage of mental health workers, it's totally understandable. I now have a therapist I see twice a week, a psychiatrist I see once a month, an IHH caseworker, AND a peer support counselor all in one place! Plus, they offer telehealth, making it convenient for people like me who can't drive and have limited access to transportation.

I was seen at St Luke’s Hospital by attending physician Dr David Dierks for nausea related to my right knee replacement. I found Dr Dierks to be very professional and compassionate and I felt very well taken care of by all the staff there, including Brenda who was the admissions nurse and Lance who also saved me yet another visit the following day. It’s so comforting to know that when it is needed to go to the ED, that St Luke’s is there to help and make you feel comfortable and confident that you will be well taken care of.
