I personally had a great experience. I was seeing Amber Myers. My first visit was uncertainty; I didn’t have any idea if this woman could provide the care I needed. Then a year later, I learned quite a bit about myself. Amber, pays attention to her patients. She actively listens. Instead of making suggestions, she allows her patients to self-reflect by using questions that make you think, rather than enforcing an idea. Sort of like planting a seed. Despite my care with physiatrist, over at Avera behavioral healths main facility, I actually got results. I improved through therapeutic techniques, rather than consuming medication. I can say that the practice at Avera behavioral health psychiatry is taboo. One little statement could cost you a prescription that you actually need and lead to you being misdiagnosed for something else. This happened to me. One doctor by the name of Losee, said to me, “My husband has adhd and he doesn’t need medication. So why do you?” This baffled me for the longest time. I was taken off my prescription for adhd, because I made a subtle statement about being angry at how my life was unfolding, about two years ago. She kept telling me if I went to get labs done (blood testing) she would provide my medication again. It never happened. So I gave up and went over to Avera behavioral healths smaller clinic, where they had licensed therapists such as Amber. And I was happy.

I think this counseling service has a good structure and great people working in it. I have been with Community Counseling since I was in 8th grade, Sandy has been the one with me throughout my whole highschool journey. I don't think without her i could have made it, i recommend this counseling center if you need any kind of mental or physical help.

The PHP IOP program is a Godsend. There's always room for improvement within any treatment center, but this program has a lot of areas in which perfectly cater to those in Recovery who have a strong desire to dramatically change their lives. The program director goes above and beyond to hop in and aid and assist no matter what is asked of them. Clients have even witnessed them having to do the duties of the house manager when extra help was needed. Not even tryna gas them up but its rare that you'll find that, I certainly haven't seen too many other programs that are able to provide the space to thrive like PSJ does.
My nurse is also an above average employee, they went to bat for me when I was struggling with personal issues. And my counselor has their own experience with battling the things that plague our community and when they interact with clients they do so from a place of Love while still maintaining their professional boundaries.
Im not saying this program is perfect by any means, but I can attest to Prairie St John's being a major component of saving my life this year.

I recently completed my time at Hazelden Betty Ford, and I can honestly say it was a life-changing experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt supported and welcomed into a community that truly understands the journey to recovery. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and met so many lifelong friends who continue to be an important part of my life.
During my time there, I learned that I can have fun while being sober, which was a huge revelation for me. The program gave me valuable life skills that I will carry with me forever, and the staff helped me get my medications sorted out, which made a world of difference in my day-to-day well-being.
I especially appreciated the day treatment program, which kept me engaged, motivated, and focused on my recovery. Now that I’m in IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program), I’m still enjoying the supportive structure and continuing to grow every day. Hazelden Betty Ford gave me the tools, confidence, and friendships that make living sober not just possible, but truly fulfilling.

I am currently in the day treatment program here and it’s amazing. It has truly helped me learn ways to stay sober and deal with my mental health issues. I am very grateful for this place and would recommend it to people looking for a place to recover.

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation has amazing staffing that cares deeply about the patients in their care. The support given to me by the staff was incredible and you can tell they truly care about recovery.

***DO NOT GO HERE ***
1. Went to this clinic for a CBC lab last week. Lab tech botched my left arm and then had to poke my right arm. She was not gentle or personable.
2. Today (9/15/2025), my “new patient” appointment was scheduled for 3:30 PM today. I checked in at 2:25 PM and Dr. Ho (I’m not being derogatory-that’s her real name) refused to see me because I was considered “late” (even though my appointment wasn’t until 3:30) because I didn’t check in at 3:10 PM. I explained I paid $40+ round trip for Uber rides and I needed prescriptions filled in next two weeks. The nurse relayed the message and Dr. Ho still refused to see me. I was told I would need to reschedule and the next one available was 6 weeks out.
It’s obvious Dr, Ho doesn’t want any additional patients. In hindsight, I probably dodged a bullet. Absolutely ZERO care, compassion, or explanation for a 20 minute buffer. I will not be using Fairview for any of my or my family’s healthcare needs.

Always wonderful. From front desk personnel to lab technicians who draw our blood and take specimens, nurses, doctors, everyone we interact with is helpful and tries to do her best. Some day I didnt drink enough fluid and it was harder to draw blood, yet the lab tech got my blood drawn successfully with so many apologies ( It was my fault to not drink enough water prior to blood work. Yet she cared so much about my experience and so empathetic. ) I just want to tell you all that we appreciate you. My family just loves this clinic. We love Dr Ho, as she turned my life around and is very thorough and so empathetic. I love all the nurses, all lab technicians, all front desk staff. This is a caring and inclusive place for everyone.
