I m struggling to understand why this facility would get anything less than 5 stars. Valley Hope has truly changed my life. I called on a Wednesday morning and was in a bed by Friday. This is more than a facility or institution. It s a home full of love and care. The staff are much more than staff even down to the cooks. They truly do care. They go above and beyond to listen, recognize and love. I HIGHLY recommend V.H. To anyone who s truly wanting to live a life of sobriety. The structure, dynamics, medical care, post care recommendations and even down to the food is amazing. If I could give more stars, I would. Thank you so much Valley Hope for changing my life around. To my knowledge, Bert Nash's the only organization in Lawrence that offers grief counseling which is not church sponsored, individual provider, or contracted through hospice (having moved from another state during the grieving process where my services had been cancelled. I was helped greatly by the group sessions, which were virtual, online meetings. I was able to also move on to one on one counseling, as a client for long term. I don't know what I would've done without Bert Nash. Also, they were able to handle my insurance without any problems.

SHOUT OUT ONCE AGAIN FOR THE LEAVENWORTH VA.I have been experiencing severe lower left back pain since Wednesday. When it hits, a sunami! Can't move fast, sit easy, walk , without severe pain. Pain meds, TENS Unit, heating pad. Helps some.Decided to go the the VA Emergency Room for the first time ever. In and out in 60 minutes.From reception to pharmacy, they were outstanding. Definite 10 on a 1 low to 10 high scale!My ER Nurse was Debbie. Very personable and experienced. The Doctor was Dr. Glen Georger. Diagnosed quickly and prescribed a shot of my favorite- MORPHINE BABY! And a steroid shot. Gave me a RX for prednisone too.The pharmacist and tech were awesome.I am thankful we have a VA hospital as Dwight D. Eisenhower Eastern Kansas VA that is clean, orderly and great service. Current Inpatient resident who would like to say I came with much trepidation and anxiety. All of which I was able to shed easily on account of the staff and friendly fellow residents. Not in any small part because of Kerry (think I spelled that right) in detox, because she is @$$@ ing hilarious, and made me feel a lot better. I mean, guys, it s rehab.. ;) But this is a very good rehab. Admins listen.EDIT: It took guys.. It really took this time. I shed the $&!t colored goggles. And the world is vivid.. bright.. and while i honestly believed I'd be dead by now... In reality I'm happier than I think I ever have been. I couldn't see it back then.

I have been to numerous treatment facilities, including The Welcome House, ACT, Mirrors, Therapeutic Community, Intensive outpatient treatment (at numerous locations) and Midwest Recovery Centers has been the only one that I've actually enjoyed and feel like I left a different person. It may be a bit expensive but the experience was worth every penny. I've tried a few methadone clinics, this one is the best I've seen. They do have a few rules that seem rather stupid, but they have gov oversight, so ya have to deal with that kind of BS anywhere you go. They are definitely the nicest and the friendliest out of all the ones T have been to.Update... the staff that you interact with i.e. the counclers and the nurses are definitely very nice and appear to be honestly intrested in the clients wellbeing, however it took a few months...like 6 or 8 months for the office staff to get my VA insurance worked out and I had to pay cash in the meantime. That was over 2 years ago and they still have not re-embersed a single Penney however I verified with the Va the were paid twice once by me and once by the Va. Should be a law against that sort of thing. I believe it is called fraudulent billing.... If they end up owning you money don't expect to see it soon...however if you owe them and can not pay the will start detoxing you, they did to me when I told them I get paid in 3 days ... they detoxed me for those 3 days. Good luck if you have no other options.

Great place. Great counclers. Clean. They have clean bathrooms. Very friendly staff. They have the new check in mobile system so it saves your spot in line. They are fair. Some of the rules are a little silky but they don't set those, Corporate does. So it's not the staffs fault at this location. They probably saved my life. The doctors is very helpful and understanding. She listens. The nurse is a godsend. And the counclers are top of the line.

I used to go here when i was 13/14... and for everyone who has had a bad experience placeing there child here just know as for every place it has its good and bad times. I was forchinat enough to be placed here when it had a good staff systume shout out to ,Michaelis, Doug dear, Melissa, mr Tiny, mark and meany more. I also made a tone of friends who i still keep up with to this day aswell. I had the chance learn alot about myself and my problems and left a better kid who was confident and well more behaved and I still use what I learned there to this day and I'm 30. I'm unsure how the place is doing almost 20 years later or who is working there but this place randomly popped up in my my head and i just felt the need to look it up and leave a review. I just graduated from inpatient alcohol treatment at this facility on May 15th 2024. The staff is absolutely phenomenal! Everybody from maintenance up to the director is in active recovery or has been effected by addiction. It's an awesome environment. I currently have 70 days of sobriety and owe all of it to mirrors. There is a reason they are called the dream team, but I may change the staffs name to the miracle team. I'm currently in out patient and it's amazing over there too. The food was great also. Please, if you are looking for help, the Topeka facility is the bees knees. They saved my life.

My family member has been a patient for about a week now, so far so good. I am kept up to date with the care and all my questions have been answered as I ask them, honestly.The nurses aim is to ensure their safety while the doctors & therapists work to determine the best care and treatment for the psychosis episode.Slowly I see my family member coming back to reality, very slowly. While I would truly love to focus on the strengths of the select few staff members here that carry themselves in a professional and ethical manner, it would be disingenuous to you, the prospective client, to leave out the unfortunate reality that it is overwhelmingly the clients that are left to run 80-90% of the responsibilities of operating their own treatment program here. A holistic, dynamic recovery from substance abuse demands the rigorous participation of the individual for whom the program is designed to help recover. Unfortunately at Mirror Shawnee, this concept appears to have been skewed in such a way where the individual client is now responsible for the nutritional, sanitary and other fundamental needs of their peers, while the majority of the program "leaders" visibly struggle to affect their influence in a meaningful way. The moment one enters the circus event that is Mirror Shawnee, as a client, a concerned family member, or as a new or long time staff member- there air is thick with confusion and distress and the mutual distrust and competition among all parties involved is palpable at every turn.I'm leaving a 5 star review in the hope that they will this posted perhaps a little longer than if I gave an honest rating (1 star). Mirror deletes the tsunami of negative reviews that are posted on here. Just look at number of reviews (7) and then see that there is only one 5 star review that's actually visible. Prior to the most recent purge of these reviews, there was atleast ten 1 star reviews and they have swept them all under the rug.If you have insurance and/or you're not court ordered into treatment, do yourself and your family a favor and go to Valley Hope or literally any other treatment facility. This place is the last stop on the treatment circuit before incarceration.To the staff- I just ask that maybe, just maybe you read this, and all of the other reviews and try to look at these statements not as attacks on your character by some drug addled delinquents; but as opportunities for real growth that can be earned as a community, and eventually shared amongst the broader community that we all call home.Until then, I'll keep checking back and keep leaving more encouraging reviews!
