The care has kept me stable. However if I were in a more severe state I would be concerned for my care. My case manager or therapist would be switched without it being discussed with me, most of the time they would miss my appointment so I would call and be informed that I had a new case manager or therapist. I love my nurse but even my nurse has been switched several times. I’m glad I’m coherent enough to advocate for myself my heart breaks for people who aren’t. The receptionist can do better! How are you walking away as you clearly seen me approaching the window?! Not to mention the receptionists phone etiquette!!! You work in mental health care, do better!!! I only stayed 3 days due to the fact that I need weeks to come off my Suboxone that I have been on for near 6 years now and to get off of kratom and 7oh (kratom is NOT the same as 7oh just so u know,... 7oh is extracted from kratom and synthesized to make 7oh so it's extremely potent) I wanted to walk out of that place completely off everything but the intake Nurse/P.A. and I argued over my impulsiveness for stopping my Suboxone yet once she explained the weendown process I accepted it, it's not possible how I wanted to do it and she reminded me to slow down and realize my impulsiveness..3 months minimum of slowly lowering my dose to getting shots and then after about 3months I could be free, so i decided to stay to get thru my withdrawals from kratom and 7oh (withdrawals very intense yet short lived) the detox psychologist, I believe his name was Ray, made me realize so much about myself in our 2 short encounters that changed my thoughts and thinking as well as my understanding of myself drastically for the better. He's an ol'school cat, war vet, grandfather and his general aura and vibe was genuine and real. And the fact that he was so natural was a relief. All the detox nurses were great...except 1. She had shoulder length blonde hair and treated us like inmates rather than people who self-committed themselves to their facility. I won't go to deep cuz it isn't that deep but nurses like her and her judgement and condescending tone when speaking AT u not WITH u will be the cause of ppl leaving AMA. We enter a program vulnerable and she make u feel like dog shit on the bottom of her shoe SMH yet there was a male nurse with glasses and shoulder length light hair (not really blonde tho) and I believe he wore glasses, was so AMAZING. He introduced himself, came out to our smoking area and conversated with us (briefly) as the people we are. He showed kindness and care where that 1 woman nurse neglected to treat us as and for that I appreciate you even tho I don't remember his name. I've been home just over a week now and have not run back to my kratom/7oh addiction...my appointment is coming up in October to start my process of getting off my Suboxone properly. Now as for the intake process, yes it's a lil cold and rough, you have got to understand they are the 1st contact point for those coming into treatment. They see EVERYTHING, Who goes to detox sober/straight...I have yet to see that in my on and off recovery from 2000-2026, so they are getting the absolute worst of our selves when arriving. They must be stern and thorough in the start. Like no nonsense. I wasn't greeted with smiles and faith and I didn't arrive with smiles and faith such as that so I'm not mad and nobody attitude could stop me from wanting it... Take what applies to you and ur life and forget the rest. I would recommend this place to others. ( If u are going in prepare urself, read their list of approved items, and/or call the office and ask if you're curious if you can bring something that isn't on that list and what kind of packaging or even ingredients are restricted). And say this because I didn't get my deodorant and the only makeup I got that I brought was my liquid foundation but who tf am I truly trying to impress with my looks while detoxing LOL no biggie. It was battle that I chose not to fight...my zest bar soap worked just fine and deodorant. Amber Mclauchlin 5 days ago I would like to take that I was here for 14 days it was horrible the staff is very rude they don't care about you all they care about is the paycheck and when they get to go home it takes you about a week to get the correct medicine that you have a therapist there push you to go to sober living even though you don't need it there is a lot of theft people pissing on the ground pooping in pooping in the showers you know people peeing outside the places dirty they don't get cleaned off the people there don't care you know the main person there told everybody you know you can go out the streets and just go in going up and overdose and kill yourself because I don't care three people end up committing suicide while I was there just just a horrible time I won't be coming back to be putting in my 28 days Caiden Aird 6 days ago Food not bad and room layout not bad. Mrs. Kelly or Kelly in the Office is very disgruntled....she gives myself and my son a hard time at every turn. He had a Dentist appointment and needed to check out a bit early to make the appointment. I told him just notify the office. She insisted my grown son....(18 yrs old.....can sacrifice his life in this nations military.) have me call and tell them. When he tried explaining his age of 18 makes him an adult.....she tried to tell him.."Your father files for you on his taxes"......NOW WAIT JUST A MINUTE.....what do my financials have to do with a grown mans ability to tell someone when he has to leave early or otherwise? I had to call the School Board and speak to the super attendant....who was appalled at the thought of this woman mentioning a parents financials. The superintendent was great...everything done. So today I asked my son to have my name removed from the automated call list. He is 18 and has been since December. He needs these calls and reminders ...on snow days, half days, etc. I dont need to be called at work for simple reminders that are rather frequent...and border on spam. So he goes in the office today to return a book and have the phone thing rearranged. At which point Ms. Kelly or Kelly or Mrs. Kelly starts right off again with refusing to change it. Again my son reminds her of his age and she ...AGAIN brings up my taxes and who pays what to who. SORRY PARENTS TAXES ARE OUT OF BOUNDS AND ARE IRRELEVANT TO A RESPECTABLE GROWN MAN CHANGING HIS EMERGENCY CARD INFO. This woman not only sits in the office behind a desk at my sons school...and talks to parents with complete disrespect and an awful nasty tone....NOW ...how do you think she is speaking to our kids? The folks in the office need to re-evaluate her position desperately...power trips are not student friendly....these young adults have alot on their plates...and having a young lady treating them badly isnt helpful to attitude or environment...they are turning 18 and being expected to pay taxes, get jobs, enroll for the DRAFT , and be responsible adults. The folks at the schools should be teaching respect, responsibility, and encouraging them to be capable young adults.....THAT DOESNT HAPPEN WHEN YOU TREAT THEM LIKE 7th graders!! If you want these young folks to stay in school speak to them with some mutual respect...AND THE PARENTS....and things will be more comfortable for everyone. Dont sit in that office and talk down to folks and be condescending to parents who call. So again...I called the superintendents office. We spoke about the same things as last time....all is good. My question is...if she is this difficult for the parents and kids to deal with ....over something as simple as changing a few phone numbers around.....one has to wonder how many other road blocks her poor attitude has created for these kids. If he stands up to her in the office and insist she does what he knows should be done without issue....then he gets suspended...so she just talks to them however she sees fit....and the parents too. I will be preparing for a future school board meeting at which point Ms Kelly will be the topic of my time allowed. Unacceptable behavior from an a public employee ...who is suppose to be teaching and leading kids in positive, productive manners. My son has excellent attendance..if not perfect...also is A, B Honor Student...and has 2 jobs and pays taxes...he is literally her PEER. She is no more an adult than him. She works no harder than he. She has no moral right...or legal right to be so rude inconsiderate and disrespectful to anyone for any reason. I am hopeful...at least for other parents sake...that the position gets filled with someone who is a social butterfly and that can treat folks in a nice positive manner....that smiles and does what she can to help parents and students alike. The lunches can be awful but everyone love chicken days.The drama department and library are extremely underfunded and they don't have many electives. Therapist are a guide like a GPS, but I feel like too many people expect them to take the wheel and just fix their problems for them. I had a great experience and have been able to get myself not only in college but running again and I would feel comfortable going back if need be. The youth see a therapist/psychologist regularly, and have group therapy, they can complete their GED/diploma here. They offer many programs within that can help the teens with life skills, social skills, education, career based learning for their futures and much more. Camp Oakland has evolved and has such a great set of staff who really care for the teens and change their lives for the better! I have seen a few other reviews regarding the food here, the food here is nearly the same as public school food. Regarding any abuse/neglect comment under this program, I can 100% guarantee that does not happen here, they truly care to help your struggling teen and resolve home life issues with family.
