I was part of the face-to-face program at 28 years old, and everything exceeded my expectations. The group therapy sessions were incredibly powerful and gave me tools I didn’t even realize I was missing. My group leader, Kailee, was with me for the majority of the program and is genuinely one of the most bubbly, kindhearted, and knowledgeable souls I’ve ever met. Colleen has done a wonderful job helping us communicate even if it’s uncomfortable for both of us. She helped save my beautiful daughter from going into a very dark place. I see some do not share the same experiences we have with Easterseals, but I’ve been in and out with my girls over the years, and between the staff, docs, and therapists, they have all done an amazing job, considering what they too, have to deal with day in and day out. At times my girls had to change therapists in the middle of treatment, but they did an alright job matching them with someone similar. And if they are ready and willing to change, and it’s explained that stuff like this happens, we got through it. It’s hard to keep constant staff on hand all the time, so I understood. My own experience at Easterseals has only been since early June 2025, but I must express that they do have some wonderful staff here and they've been mostly pleasant and quite helpful in addressing my needs and concerns. My caseworker's been very positive and actually quite responsive when it comes to communication, which truly makes all the difference for me, personally. I feel she genuinely cares. My psychiatrist and therapist also have been great in similar ways. I can't say enough good things about these amazing women! Sure, front end staff seem off or a bit grumpy or just burned out sometimes, but, honestly I can't blame them - I wouldn't be able to deal with the job well myself! It'd annoy the hell out of me dealing with so many people all day. We all get tired of work at times, we're all only human ya know. (I only mentioned this because of the negatory comments I read regarding the initial staff). Lastly, their transportation guys are also awesome! I think what it all comes down to is your own personal attitude, tolerance, and the ability to have compassion and understanding from other perspectives in these type of places when it comes to staff interactions and services in general. I use the Genoa pharmacy there as well, and they've always been great. You get what you give in life or what you put into things folks. It's also good to remember we can't truly control anything outside of ourselves, only what's within us. But, I digress - to each their own. I have had a lot of case managers, and they have all been great. One case manager that stands out and goes beyond is Treazure Wright. I don't live Pontiac and the drive is very long. Biomed is one of the best clinics in the Metro Detroit area. They always welcome everyone and will not judge you at your current status in life. The staff is very polite and courteous, and biomed offers a safe enviorment during your recovery. Biomed offers various didatics, group therapy, and counseling. I've been clean for 15 years. Unfortunately they no longer except private insurance. They do except Medicaid. Its $80 or $100 a week cash. There is also a block grant you ask abou through access, and Biomed. You are requires to see your counselor once a month, either in-person or through a phone session. Groups and didactics can be done either in-person or through a zoom meeting. Biomed is open from 5 am to 1 pm. Biomed offers takehomes to patients who follow the rules. If your interested in becoming a patient, please call and set up an intake. I tried riding to and from the gym/ physical therapy building where the business offices and printing press for the magazine journal. It was too hard going up hill but a breeze coming back down to the bridge . Then I had to get off and push it up to the treatment center for women. I really enjoyed my time at this place. However all good times have to end and mine ended . Yes the men's bathroom was atrocious but I dare you to make me one rehab facility that accepts medicaid insurance where the men's bathroom doesn't look bad. Sacred Heart for example is supposed to be the top tier for bottom insurance and the men there never flush leave their stuff all over it's like that especially in detox grown men don't know how to use proper hygene. But the staff went I was there a couple months ago were amazing friendly and funny especially Diamond she had me laughing a lot. The food is pretty good so I don't know what the one guy was complaining about mold. I've been to some of the best and worst rehabs and I can tell you it's what you put into it. If you are trouble you are gonna attract trouble or if you think you can just come in and coast and not participate then you won't get anything out of it. I had a bad relapse recently and unfortunately have to go back but I'm glad I'm going back to a place that has love and cares. Only negative thing I can say is what most would consider great is that they allow you to bring your personal cellphones in. Its great to listen to music and text family to passed the time but there is too much temptation to call or text the wrong people who could convince you to reconsider wanting to stay.
