I have been going here for over a year now and it's a hit and miss situation the first therapist I had here was terrible and I could tell she didn't actually care about me. The first nurse practitioner I had here wasn't that good either. After that I would like to say that the second therapist I got was awesome he really helped me through some stuff, because of my work with him I have become a much less angry individual, I am sad to see him go, but people move all the time. I believe that the next therapist I have here will probably be good too. I would also like to say to people thinking about going here, take a chance, you may end up with someone you really like, and if you don't find someone else it is not much of a problem to switch therapists.

The best decision I ever made, this wasn't my first treatment center but definitely the last. I spent 6 months here and changed my life forever. The program and top notch AA, the staff is unforgettable. This place can change your life too but remember the work is personal. They give you the tools and teach you how to use them its up to you after that. The program invites you to change you just have to be willing. If you had a bad experience maybe you were looking for an exertional change, this is an inside job at the end of the day. Good luck if you in need of help, this is the first step. Highly recommended.

I am a current client at mountainside in the sober living house and I am so grateful for every second I have spent here. I have been here for almost 4 months and have been through all programs by this point. When I got here I was met by friendly faces when being brought into detox. I didn’t feel uncomfortable at any moment and thanks to the amazing detox staff I had a very zero stress and cozy stay. To the residential staff, you all are absolutely AMAZING! I cannot thank everyone enough for making the 47 days with you guys made me feel heard and loved. To Ally, thank you for letting me share my experience with you and being a friend to me and helping me through some hard times. I will forever be grateful for you. PHP was a nice step down from all the restrictions. Being able to spend some outside time at meetings or going out for some good food was very helpful to showing that I really can have fun sober. Sober living so far through mountainside has been a life changing experience. I definitely lucked out with having some of the best roommates ever! Mario was amazing during my first month in the house. As a recovery coach he helped me get on track with my recovery and think of goals that I would like to accomplish in my sobriety. I was lucky enough to know him from the beginning and I am very happy that I was able to work with him later in my stay. Having someone that I can always rely on when I am having a rough time that was only one call away was very relieving for me. I will stop talking now as I could go on forever saying amazing things about this place. Thank you Mountainside ❤️

Mario has been an absolute gift to our family. My husband has been doing sober coaching with Mario since he completed rehab at Mountainside. Mario keeps him accountable while fostering a strong relationship built on a foundation of trust. Mario keeps it real with both my husband and me with his humor and humility. He checks in with me weekly and reminds me his phone is always on for me. He approaches the difficult road of recovery with dignity for the client, compassion for the family, and respect for the process. He shares his own personal stories and experiences. Mario is deeply invested and loves what he does. I could not have gotten through these last few months without him, and my husband continues to make growth in this partnership. When my husband was having a hard time Mario drove across the state to meet with him in person. He is the definition of above and beyond with his dedication and kindness. I am so thankful for Mario and the impact he has had on my husband’s recovery as well as on me. While we are grateful for so many of the kind and dedicated people at Mountainside, Mario’s coaching has been the most impactful part of the journey.

Methadone maintenance is the gold standard for opiate addiction for a reason. This stuff works, in addition I’ll add my counselor Katie is a straight up G. She truly cares about her clients. The rest of the admin staff is lovely as well. Our dosing nurses are fast and friendly. The only negative is the head nurse zaria or whatever, she leaves ALOT to be desired to say the least. There is so much space to move around so other guests generally keep to themselves and there is little drama. My only complaint is that some of the lower-level staff (namely Beth, Nathan, Michael) are rude and think they have power over the guests. I use to come here for years and then I moved and have been guest dosing - my husband and I - and there’s no clinic available in the area not even Kingston. My home clinics still Binghamton - I emailed and emailed and no response a whenever i go in their busy. They know me, They were both my counselors before I left. I just need to have my insurance cover bc it’s expensive and taking from my kids and I cannot keep borrowing. Please 🙏 just let us be patients there or help us set up a can every day 4 hours a day to get to Binghamton. But doing that will affect me working. Idk im just fed up and I wish I wasn’t on the dose I am or I’d just stop. Yet id still give 5 stars bc everyone is just really sweet.

Saint Jude Retreat is a non-treatment aspect in battling substance use located in Amsterdam, New York. It’s a holistic program that’s based on healing your mind, body, and soul. With these retreats, you’re exploring your addictions, but you also get the opportunity to engage in outdoors activities such as biking, walking, fishing, and much mo
I love The St Jude Retreat. I attended the Mountain location that was in Wells, NY- I wouldn’t trade what I was taught for anything. It is called The Freedom Model for a reason. ❤️❤️❤️Their program uses science and a genuine look at life regarding both what worked and what didn’t about all of the choices I made. I don’t believe daily declarations that we are “powerless” offer much growth like other modalities. I’m in long term recovery for 8+ yrs and I’m not anonymous, nor ashamed or regretful bc I can own every choice. It was a combo of St Jude’s and Landmark courses combined. I highly recommend if you or someone you know, has frequent relapses and 12 step places haven’t made a lasting impact, or if you’re someone who appreciates the rational and science behind our behaviors. I will say, I did my assignments , procrastinated at some, but I did them. I didn’t have anything to lose and I went in there disbelieving anything could have me believe that I could live happy without CM. I didn’t want to go at all lol! Back then it took hell and high water to get me on a plane, (I missed flight on more than 1 occasion) but Im so grateful I did eventually get on the flight and make it there. Best advice from Rit Santelli… “Don’t give up what you want most, for what you want in the moment”- I had triggers when I got home to Tx back then, but I knew what was happening and what I wanted most mattered more. It’s 2026 I just wanted to update my review above and state still in recovery and rocking it. Freedom 100% Those Axioms are present for me on a day to day basis. Choose 🦋

After years of bouncing around the recovery world, I realized that I had nothing from which to recover! My problems were with my erroneous thinking and the behavior that resulted from the thinking. I am free now and always have been to make the decisions that shape my life. My experience at St Jude was transformative.

If you are looking for a place to change the way you think, the actions you take and your relationship with drugs or alcohol than this is the place for you. The opposite of a traditional rehab experience, St Jude’s and it’s Freedom Model start with a simple premise- there is nothing inherently wrong with you. No illness or disease, no life long problem that will hang over you till the day you die, but rather a simple misunderstanding- that all the benefits you have perceived from drinking or drugging are illusionary. They are in your mind and they proceed to unpack all the myths associated with drinking or drugging and boil it do to some simple facts- one, you have free will and are actively choosing to drink. Two you have an autonomous mind that only you control and can be taught that these perceived benefits you have associated with drinking are simply not true. And third, that you drink or drug because you BELIEVE it is making you happy and in reality it does not, at least not in the way you are drinking or drugging now- or else why are you reading this? Once they teach you this and unshackle you from all the recovery BS you will have a revelation- that this is all in your control and that if you want to change you always can. It’s that simple. The combination of one on one instruction and fact and science based statistics will time and time again reinforce this critical concept. I can honestly say this changed my life. Not just my unhealthy relationship with drinking- but all aspects of my life. It left me a better educated person and as a result a better husband, father, worker and person. In short it left me a better global citizen with an awareness of why I do what I do and the ability to modify my behaviors if I honestly want to. The staff is nothing short of awesome. From the meals (thanks Dave, who by the way is a trained gourmet chef) to the accommodations, to the instructors, you immediately feel like you are part of the family, living in a home with great people in a warm and supportive environment that allows you to comfortably sort yourself out. They are right to call it a retreat, not a rehab, because it is more about teaching you how to live and be a better human than about convincing you you are weak and powerless. I have been home for a month now and have been in numerous social settings with people drinking and have not once felt compelled to drink. I simply choose not to at this point. And that’s the best part- there is no illusion that you can never drink again (but studies show about 50% of the people choose not to) but once they teach you the facts about drinking you are empowered to intelligently choose what you want to do. I want to thank everyone there from Mark, Michelle, Steve (the authors and instructors) to everyone else who helped me during my stay. I can’t say enough great things about this experience. It was nothing short of life changing! You can do this if you want to change and the Freedom Model is the key to a healthier, happier, and more balanced life- I promise you that.

The Dynamite Youth Center (DYC) location in Fallsburg, New York is a residential facility for adolescents and young adults and their families. The professional team at DYC has decades of experience treating teen substance abuse. The program includes high school education and preparation for work after graduation. This program saved my brother's life. From the counselors, to the skills-building, and family recovery resources in between, this program is saving lives and families. My brother has been in and out of 30-day rehabs for 5+ years since he was 17. He's now 21, and the happiest he's ever been. What makes this program different is that they are young adult focused and NOT FOR PROFIT. They work with insurance and state funding, so they don't turn people away because of an inability to pay. My brother has been able to complete his high school diploma, and has now been in the program for 8 months. He's building his recovery and professional skills, learning about different trades, involved in so many activities in the program, and is becoming a peer leader. The counselors and staff involve families in the recovery process because they recognize its a family disease. They also work with members who are on MAT and taper them at a level that works for them. DYC considers every angle of their life—structure, community, skill building, independence and compassion. The Fallsburg location is exclusively a long-term residential program with weekend visits by families permitted. The Brooklyn location provides both residential and out-patient programs. My brother has even said "I can't believe I didn't come here sooner." Coming from a 21-year old, that should tell you a lot! Even the DYC alumni (past members) are so inspirational to hear from and continue to remain active. Would 100% recommend DYC to anyone who has a young adult in their life struggling with addiction and is looking for a compassionate alternative to 30-day rehabs.

My cousin, who is more like a brother to me, has been to DYC more than once. While he is no longer there today, that is not because of any shortcoming on DYC’s part. This place is truly a diamond in the rough. DYC is one of the very few long-term treatment facilities available for youth, a rarity that in itself makes it invaluable. But beyond that, what makes DYC extraordinary is the people: kind, compassionate, dedicated individuals who consistently go above and beyond not only for its members but also for the families who walk alongside them in this difficult journey. From the Fallsburg residence to the Brooklyn program and beyond, DYC offers so much more than treatment. It provides dignity, holistic care, and the life skills, introspection, and tools needed to break free from addiction’s grip. It is a place that treats people as whole human beings, worthy of love, healing, and hope. Although my cousin is no longer a member due to his own circumstances and decisions, DYC has never left me behind. For over a year, I have been attending the family groups virtually every Wednesday, and in that time I have been heard, understood, guided, and supported. These groups have profoundly shifted my beliefs, my approach, and my ability to support not only my cousin but also myself as I navigate the long and painful road that addiction weaves into families. I especially want to recognize Jen and Scott, who lead our Wednesday meetings with such care, wisdom, and compassion. Their ability to hold space for every single person in the group - through laughter, tears, and honest conversation - has been life-changing. They embody the heart of what makes DYC so special. I have cried with this community, laughed with them, and learned from them. I have been humbled by the strength of other families and, in turn, found strength of my own. The gratitude I feel for DYC, the staff, the families, and the space they create together, cannot truly be captured by words. But I can say this: DYC has given me hope, perspective, and a community when I needed it most. For that, I am forever thankful.
