Great & Terrible experiences. I asked my Sheridan VA primary care doctor on Aug 2025 to visit a neurosurgeon for severe low bk pain, collapsed disc in the spine at L5 - S1, it is severely and painfully compressing the nerves, asked to see Neurosurgeon & finally Jan 2026 approved for doctor's visit on March 2026. Because of the extreme delay from the time I asked and the time that the consult actually went through, I visited the Community Care office twice to complain and to ask why it was taking so long. During my first visit I was told that the consult was just sitting in the system and no one had done anything with it however that visit had no effect whatsoever. My second visit was basically the same thing. It took the pain management nurse to get this going, finally ! It took approx. 169 days for the consult to process. Another, approx 33 days to see Billings, MT. Provider. The approximate combined wait just to see the Dr. was approximately 202 days. You can not visit the Consult Dept. in-person to ask about severe delays. I was told it was in a lock - down area, Veterans CAN - NOT visit this locked - down department, their words, not mine. After those 202 days I was finally able to see the back neurosurgeon and he confirms the collapsed disc between the two vertebraes and the severe, painful compression on the nerves. It requires a fusion that is called 360° fusion of the lumbar spine. It's major surgery that involves cutting through your stomach to remove the desiccated disc and inserting a device that allows bone to fuse and then flipping you to cut through your back to install the screws and other hardware. I was cautioned this was going to be painful. I'm already in pain so go ahead and hurt me, yeah hurt me. The pain I got would last forever but the pain of surgery and afterwards will eventually subside and stop, so yeah go ahead and hurt me. Let's get this over with. If I remember the rules correctly, "No veteran shall wait more than 30 days for care or to see a doctor, is that working out for y'all? " Awesome primary Care August 15th 2025 asking to see a specialist about this severe pain but did not get the appointment until March 5th of 2026. Waiting for the consult at Sheridan VA hospital took up the majority of that time. The neurosurgeon is booked up I will not have the surgery according to his office until June, July or August. If the surgery occurs in August then I will have waited one year in severe pain. Saw optometrist Dr.Kowoski. BEST exam EVER. Told him he could go home early with pay and get a raise tomorrow. Dr. Mikus is a good guy, personable, gives plenty of time to ask questions, he listens. Oddly, at the end of visit, as I was leaving, he asked if I was sure that I had "all of my questioned answered. Never had any Doctor ask me that before as I am about to walk out the door. That was a first for me. Reminded me of Star Trek's Doctor McCoy's bedside manner. His Nursing staff...Nurse needle-stick, I didn't feel a thing ! Delightful, engaging bedside manner that could & should be the Gold Standard. His Nurses have empathy, sympathy, care and concern everyday for every patient. Near future I will begin a YouTube Video, postings on the Great & Terrible experiences. Starting with these experiences.

It was like walking into a different place. They understand they were nice, polite. They went out of the way to make sure they could help you in any way they could and the ones they have there. They are helping in every way they can. It's clean. It's it's got God's help. God has got his armor around that place and the people that work there and the people that go there they care about all them to go there and each other. It's like one big happy family a happy and understanding and hard times and good times. It's all of that and they're there for each other and everywhere I have seen other than this place. It's not like that. It's like you're a number. Okay, it's time for this. It's time for yourself. You know it is just it's very different and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure they get support. They get donations and help whatever they need because they're actually getting people help whether they're on the street or where they come there and they have a hump and that's that's important. It doesn't matter what lifestyle you come from. They're there to help these people and the ones I talk to the owner, the counselors, the other people, all of them. They have certain things that they have to do and it's like a well-ois machine. It's just you know I can't stand up about them and when I go to Washington I'm going to see what I can do there because they really need help and every state needs to have one. They need to have a facility like that because these people actually care. And like I said it's a family and I couldn't ask for anything better for my child. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I really couldn't have and I appreciate them and I pray for them every day and I hope whoever reads this y'all will too. You can call and you can call him. You can look at the place and it is what it says it is and the people they remind you of the people when the area the era that I lived in. They're respectful. They're respectful to you themselves. The coworkers, the families. It's just amazing. It is just really amazing. Thank you all for it

I enjoyed every single program about this place while I went there. I loved all my teachers and wished I could stay there.. But I did have a friend that went there who had his knees slammed backwards for a restraint and broken by a teacher there. There was nothing that could be done because of the legal paperwork that parents sign. 🤔 I enjoyed my time there tho. Just feel bad for other kids who weren't so lucky.

I'm now 40 and came to this place back in 1999. I hated being there but to be fair didn't have much to complain about. Bt time is been there 6ish months I didn't want to leave. I learn so much being there that I'm still grateful to this day. I earned freedom to walk the grounds unsupervised with permission as well as helping give tours to potential clients. I rode horses often did cattle branding of calves of course and did artificial insemination. I did small engines and wood working along with horticulture which were all a blast. There was a lot that happened in the dorms with the girls but what do you expect when you have so many girls with sick am array of issues. A huge part of getting something from these programs is if you want to. If your ready to get better. The staff members were all fabulous I can't think of anyone who I didn't like. I always felt genuine concern from them. I was even given the privilege to go off campus 1x a week to do gymnastics. I still to this day have small decorated box given to me as a gift upon leaving from a staff member named Marilyn. When you opened it it has a tiny box with a small now that says it was filled with her love. I'm not sure what has happened but, this place turned my life around and who know where it be today without it. So Thank you so so so much. Sorry for the delayed post lol.

I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. They actually cared about me as a person and helped me even though I didn't have insurance or the funds to pay. I called every other treatment center in the state, and even some in Colorado and Washington, but no one else would help me. I was desperate and close to the end. They were the light that came shining through the wreckage and the reason my sons will grow up with a father. They didn't just help me quit using; they helped me build a foundation of self-love, confidence, and peace that I never had before. They helped me realize my potential. I owe this place everything and I recommend them to anyone in that struggle. Rochelle is an amazing LAC. I know this was all God because her approach was exactly what I needed to save my life. The rest of the staff is so kind and uplifting, Marci is a wonderful, supportive lady and was a big part of my journey too. I love these guys like family and I am just so grateful for everyone who works here.

I love the ppl working here they are a big prime source of help for me I feel bad for the ones that don't know about this place and are still suffering couse of the lack of info or fear of the building, it's all good stuff from the path program, I was homeless in a shelter at the off the streets, and when I got a contacm t from dinell about joining the path program, at first I was worried I would not get a proved couse my mental state was all not in the right mind, I had 2 case worker there my first one I don't know why but they left, but then Jessica had been a big help many ways helped me with the lease signing and the first meetings with the landlord they keep in constant contact and even when there day was busy if something came up about the apartment Jessica was there, Dinell was always happy to here the good news about everything that happened good and bad and found a away to focus the bad stuff to be a positive thing, they helped me get stuff in my apartment that i was needed, they helped me get the hygiene stuff when i could not afford it even Landry soap was offered tooth past and tooth brush, they do so much for ppl and i really am grateful for everything they helped me with this is just one of the community things that not just homeless ppl can be a part of but the ppl as a whole, i feel they need more workers that are for helping ppl and the, they offered me other services that i all ready had like canceling, medication doctors, even trying to help me get my birth certificate I'll be really grateful for that to be done, any one who sees this i hope u don't let this blow away couse if u do your really only hurting your self and they are the biggest help i could find since my life was turned upside down I could keep going on this but i wont, I'll just say this I would always say only God could help and there was no help or here on this earth that was befor I met the ladies in path. Great team of EM providers and nurses. They even have a CT scanner and 24/7 lab and radiology services. Of course you must be Native American to access the services for free. I think it is important to take this into account as you read the reviews. The patients at this facility DO NOT PAY for their care, it is part of the social service safety net for documented members of any Native American Tribe. After all the abuse the Native American people have suffered at the hands of our government and society, I feel strongly that the IHS is a well-deserved benefit.

Northern Wyoming has been the best thing that has happened in my life. Between the therapists and the peer specialists there I have been able to find a new way of living and remaining sober. Even when I have made mistakes they have stuck right by my side making sure that they never gave up on me. If it wasn't for the help I've received I have no idea where my life would be but I know the quality of it would be no where near where it is today.
