Dothan, Alabama | Addiction can start at an early age, and getting your child the right care while they’re still young can make an immense difference for them. That’s the focus of Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center. This facility is a behavioral health treatment center for kids and teens in Dothan, Alabama. In this facility’s residential treatment program, | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Our teenage son struggles with mental health issues. We have tried a number of programs hoping to get him the help and support he needs. One of the facilities/programs we enrolled in was Laurel Oakes in Dothan, Alabama. This facility was like no other we experienced. Every staff member we encountered was courteous, caring and always willing to go above and beyond for our child. This Facilities’ culture is created and carried forward by the Facility CEO, Jeanette J. Jeanette was and remains extremely accessible, responsive, supportive, and always willing to go above and beyond. After our son left the program, he wanted to remain in contact with Jeanette. Without hesitation, she continued to support and communicate with our son. Jeanette not only remained in contact with our son after he left Laurel Oakes, but she was also always willing to speak to us about his current challenges and continued care. You couldn't ask for a better steward to oversee your child's care. As I said, all of the staff went above and beyond always. Our son gravitated towards one staff member in particular, a gentleman known to the kids as Sarge because of his prior military service. Sarge was always a touchstone for our son. Sarge also took time out from his day to speak to our son after he left the program. I am sorry if your family finds yourself having to consider such programs for your child. That's said, if you do, I can highly recommend Jeanette and her team at Laurel Oakes.

My son was here from 6-2-25 until 6-13-25. He told me the place was very clean, nice, food was good, staff was great and he had no complaints. From speaking with all the staff on the phone when checking up on him everyone seemed very friendly, caring and understanding. The therapist Heather Rice has been excellent. Also Natasha was great with gathering info for me any time I called. I’ve spoken to them several times since he’s been there. I recommend Laurel Oaks to anyone that’s seeking help for their kids with behavioral issues.

This is a amazing clinic. From the counselors to the doctor. They go out of their way to help my son. They visit him at school, they even have a team that will even visit your house and do activities with your child to help them learn coping skills, encouragement, help with self esteem issues, and they reward them aswell. I have seen my son go from having such anger every single day, to slowly coming out of his shell and communicating more, and being in better moods. They just give him someone to talk to other than me. Totally recommend this place. Wish there was something like this around when I was growing up.

Edit: things are finally getting fixed for me. It took forever but finally things are getting back on track here. //The rules that the clinic it self is now breaking is making it very hard for me to stay on track with my sobriety. Things used to be better here, but the last two years big mistakes are being made by workers and even when they tell you they will fix it and that they are sorry, they’re not. I’m only 4 days in but let me tell you though it works! I have battled fentanyl addiction for over 3 years and if you are an addict of the same caliber then you know there’s no detoxing without help off that demon! I went to this place as a last resort to impatient with no expectations since nothing else has ever worked and let me tell you I haven’t felt as “normal” if that’s a word I can use to describe it as in years even before the addiction took hold..I have energy and I am clear headed.. you have to give this a try you won’t be sorry! From the front desk, to the counselor, the nurse, the doctor I mean even the clinic director and other counselors these people care! They don’t treat you like someone who doesn’t deserve help or like it’s your own fault your where you are. Idk I guess I just am so surprised yet grateful to be free from the monkey on my back I want everyone to know they can be free to..I hope this finds and helps someone else get on the same track to living again!

As a person sent here for a evaluation through the judicial system, that I would say made that determination under poor unethical standards. I spent 4 weeks here after 3 weeks of observation I was given a evaluation which I passed and was released the following week. My personal experience from the inside was that overall much of the staff is very professional. Some are very young and I commend them for choosing such a challenging job. I have a new respect for this industry as the real challenges are the patients. Each one with their own challenges and demands and expectations can be draining on any human. The court education classes where very informative to the facts of law. Dr Heather is amazing as well as nurse Johnny Ms Myra, Ms Richardson and Mr Taylor. Although there is room for improvement, my overall experience was educational and safe. And in my opinion they are NOT over medicating people here the DRs and staff were very reasonable and at times I wished they would medicate some of the more severe patients for my own personal peace. I believe whole hearted that the operations here are being done well. Keep up the good work the world needs more people like you all to help so many in need. Blessings

Very interesting " Club ". A permanent setup in an old cabin. You cant see it from the road. Try to ignore that weird little building at the road with a couple old cars for sale. It has a sign on the front door " he-man woman haters club". Holds both AA and NA meetings. Back home in Cleveland Ohio, 90% of AA meetings are held in churches. A nominal "rent" is paid to the church each month. There's only one sober club in Cleveland. Keep going to meetings. It will grow on you after awhile till the miracle happens.
