The best decision I ever made, this wasn't my first treatment center but definitely the last. I spent 6 months here and changed my life forever. The program and top notch AA, the staff is unforgettable. This place can change your life too but remember the work is personal. They give you the tools and teach you how to use them its up to you after that. The program invites you to change you just have to be willing. If you had a bad experience maybe you were looking for an exertional change, this is an inside job at the end of the day. Good luck if you in need of help, this is the first step. Highly recommended.

HighWatch Recovery Center is a truly extraordinary place— a rich history, rooted in the 12 Steps, and committed to deep, lasting transformation. The moment you arrive on the serene, spiritual campus in the hills of Connecticut, you feel the legacy of healing that has taken place there for decades. It’s a sacred space where recovery is honored and lives are rebuilt with dignity and purpose. The entire team at HighWatch is world-class—compassionate, knowledgeable, and deeply invested in each individual’s journey. The integration of evidence-based practices with spiritual growth and community support creates a powerful and balanced approach to healing. Every aspect of the program, from the therapeutic work to the fellowship among peers, reflects thoughtful care and an unwavering commitment to recovery. HighWatch isn’t just a treatment center—it’s a place where people find hope, rediscover themselves, and begin a new chapter. If you or someone you love is struggling, this is a place where true healing can begin. I’m beyond grateful to have witnessed the magic of this incredible program.

This place is amazing. The staff is beyond incredible. They make you feel like family. They truly care for you. I stayed for 95 days. Best thing I ever did. Oh and you eat like a king lol some of the best food ever and the bakery is out of this world. In all seriousness this place is an amazing place to get help. I felt welcomed by all the other guests as well. Everyone is there for the same reason so its very easy to get along and you build a family forever . I've been out for over 6 months now and I still talk to at least 15 of the guys. Highly recommend. In fact I have already recommend it to a few people. And i met some people here in bennington vt where I go to AA that went to h.w back in the day. Can't wait to go back for a prime rib dinner soon..

CONTINUALLY UPDATING...... This van from Wheeler Clinic is great. They are equipped with even a heart monitor. We need more of these. I made an appointment at a doctors office that the earliest is 6 months away. There have been urgent care facilities opening up everywhere in the state. It's like the medical field is getting ready for a major health problem. The nurses can read a major amount of my health records and even re-ordered my vitamins that I didn't even know I had a script for. Just saying thanks. June 2025. Wheeler has a care management program to help clients with extra care needs. Helping book appointments, housing, food, shelter, help finding outside doctors like specialists that your primary can give you referrals to, coordinate rides and more. I will share more as I learn more. Be well.

This place is life saving and life changing. I've been to a million different places and this is by far one of the nicest facilities I've ever gone. Between the staff, the nurses, the food, the cleanliness, just overall care - you get hope. You go there hopeless and leave with not only knowledge, skills, and ability, but tools and a plan. There's many places that don't treat you as human beings, but at Retreat you are treated with Grace, respect, understanding, and as an individual. The majority of the staff do their best to not only make sure you're comfortable but go beyond that and make sure you get a sense of "yourself" again. The nursing staff is BEYOND amazing, I can not express how wonderful they are, and truth be told, with what they deal with, they are so phenomenal. They do their best to make sure you are always comfortable, which is something you don't get anywhere else. 10/10 I would send anyone looking for mental health/behavioral health, addiction treatment, or whatever - this, this is your place. This is your break, this is your safe space.

I've been with NMHBH for(maybe) 20 years now. I've seen 3 women counselors. I literally walked right out in the middle of each session. One woman was constantly late. She would go to her office and spend even more time. Eventually, I was called in and ONLY had 10-15 minutes left to talk. All the while, she was putzing at her desk with her back towards me. Another counselor, I was explaining how I feel with the physical aspects of having anxiety and panic attacks. To me it is physical. So, when I mentioned all this to her, TRUE STORY!!!...AND I QUOTE...(with a tick of the tongue)she replies, "Oh! I don't believe that!!" I was in complete shock 🤯! I gave the counselor a piece of my mind and stormed out of the office. I thought counselors are supposed to be sympathetic. 🤔 Hmmm?? Listens well and has GOOD advice to give that will certainly help with your everyday difficult situations, troubles, uncertainties etc. I received no 😣 helpful feedback. I don't seem to get along with any female counselors or women in general. I'm still a patient at NMHBH. Now I only go every 3 months just to check in & review my medications. This is only MY experience. Perhaps you'll find a counselor for yourself & hopefully be able to establish a relationship that is detrimental to your well-being. Thank you for your time. Mz. Murphy

I came here to talk about their EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy, it truly helps with PTSD symptoms! They have all in the same place, I mean you can also find yourself housing and a job (they even have free picnics, art classes, etc!)

Literally saved my life. I've had severe mental health issues my whole life and have been hospitalized, I've been to nearly a dozen therapists and psychiatrists, and I'm only 24 now. Months after I got out of the hospital several years ago and endless therapy sessions I really had given up. I had tried everything I could think of. I couldn't function. I did my best and it wasn't enough. Suicide seemed inevitable. My dear sweet mom was the one that googled up WCMHN and got me to do an intake. I didn't think anything different would happen, but quickly realized that I was being taken very seriously. The therapist I had been seeing told me I would never qualify to get into WCMHN because my condition wasn't "serious enough", but the person doing intake strongly disagreed. They set me up with an actual team of professionals: a therapist, a therapy group, a case manager, a psychiatrist, and a very kind nurse, all in the same place. They even gave me rides to appointments when I needed them. That was two years ago and I'm still a client here in recovery but the improvement I've experienced is nothing I ever thought that ME of all people could even hope for. They are all so kind and respectful and they understand that mental illness is as serious as any other illness. If you have lost all hope, give this a shot. I'm not saying it will be easy, but you will have a huge support team behind you and the resources you need to learn how to be happy and healthy. They deal with all types of serious chronic illnesses and addictions of all kinds. They can help you find housing and a job, and teach you to be independent. They even have free picnics, art classes, etc. for clients. Start with getting more information and see where it takes you. Really could not be more appreciative...I wish everyone knew about Western CT Mental Health.

If you are willing to do the work, commit to yourself that YOU are worth the time & energy needed that it takes to truly recover, and remain sober then I highly recommend you give Retreat a try. After years of trying everything we could think of, my wife and I finally found Westport House. Our son was admitted quickly and efficiently, and, from that point on, our experience was incredible. After a couple of months we saw a noticeable change in our son. The staff was very timely in their correspondence with us and always treated us appropriately. During his time there, our son became actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, obtained employment, and began treating us and others with a level of respect we did not know he was capable of. He stayed there for 7 months, and I can say, it was very much worth every penny. Our son is still sober today and continues to attend the AA meetings that he went to during his time at Westport House. We cannot thank Westport House enough for giving us our son back. After 7 painful years, the change that he was able to make in his life is incredible, and it is all thanks to the great staff and services at Westport House.

After being in and out of many different rehabs, it was at Westport House that I learned how to live a brand new life. The staff was kind, loving, and compassionate. They showed me the way up and out of the horrible rut I was in. They also helped my family understand addiction, and what they needed to do to help me, and themselves. The atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable, and the incredibly supportive! Being able to see their therapists and clinical team was also essential in aiding my recovery. To RIATC, The PHP and IOP programs at RIATC provide excellent, evidence-based treatment across multiple modalities and I found that it was quite helpful, which includes treatment of substance use and mental health diagnoses. The feeling is warm and welcoming and includes multiple layers of client centered treatment (e.g., one on one therapy, medication management, group therapy, etc.). I felt that the groups were both supportive and inclusive, with a comfort that allows for transparency and vulnerability across group members. In fact, multiple group members had reported a feeling of comfort and healthy support during the groups; something they don't often experience elsewhere. In addition, the programs are open to suggestions and feedback from clients and staff do put in effort to adapt accordingly and ensure client centered care. Furthermore, RIATC works with clients to identify root causes driving substance use, something that is necessary throughout the process of recovery and stabilization of mental health symptoms. Overall, RIATC is an effective program for anyone struggling with substance use and/or mental health and I would highly recommend it. Thank you.

Everyone at RIATC is amazing! Between the operations team, the facilitators, and even the clients everyone here feels like a family. I have been here in recovery for a few weeks now and it has been truly eye opening and helpful in so many ways. I could not recommend this place enough if you’re in a recovery whether it’s for addiction mental health or both this is the place to go!

Wanted to take a moment to dote on counselor Richelle Atkins. She has been instrumental in helping me change my life and work through my addiction. When you find someone like Richelle who is not just passionate about her job but truly cares for the people and community - that kind of dedication to the cause helps me to feel not so alone. Judgement has no place at Restorative and Richelle is a true reflection of that. I could tell her anything and she would only try and make it better for me or challenge me to think of how I can do better in the future. Even in the midst of her own personal struggles she shows up for her clients 100% each day. Thank you to Restorative Management and especially to Richelle for helping me get my life back - And the journey has just begun!

Inter Community, 40 Coventry St, Hartford CT. I’ve had a very good experience with InterCommunity Health. The staff is welcoming, respectful, and genuinely cares about patient well-being. From the front desk to the doctors and counselors, everyone takes the time to listen and provide support without judgment. Their integrated approach to healthcare—covering physical, behavioral, and mental health—makes it easier to get comprehensive care in one place. The medical team explains treatment options clearly and works with you to find what fits best. Wait times can vary, but overall, the quality of care and compassion shown by the providers more than make up for it. They also offer helpful resources for recovery, wellness, and community support, which shows they’re truly invested in helping people improve their lives.
