I’ve unfortunately been to 9 inpatient treatments in Iowa and Hazelden in Minnesota. Powell is easily the best one in Iowa and their programming and staff are right on par with Hazelden. Which is one of the best (maybe the best) treatment in the USA. I highly recommend Powell if you or a loved one is serious about getting sober. They know what it takes to get sober and more importantly what to do to stay sober! 5 ⭐️

After nine months my child is discharged. I was scared to send her but it's been the best decision for our difficult situation. Don't read too much into the negative reviews, the kids don't like that they have rules to follow which is why they are there and they don't like the way things are done but it's tough love. Are things as perfect as we'd like? No, we still have struggles but our kid is diagnosed and on the proper meds. If what's being taught in the house they live in (world views of those working there) don't line up with your personal values, don't be afraid to speak up. Because of our feeling so lost and desperate, we were too afraid to say anything. I finally said what I thought and I said my kid wasn't allowed to participate, I sure wish I'd have said it sooner! When you are all out of options and completely exhausted, send your kid, it'll be OK. We had 10 years of therapists and I wish I could take Alex with us! Alex, you are the Best, you take no crap!❤️

St greg’s helped me take the time and learn the tools I needed to get down to my core of what my addiction was. I really recommend going there with an open mind and digging deep into yourself and your past. Figure out where it all started and why it continued. I was blessed to be able to come to St Gregory Recovery Center for help with alcohol addiction. I am over one year sober now thanks to the caring and knowledgeable staff. Their approach is evidence based and scientific, but also faith based. I experienced God working in my life to help take away my urges to drink and change my thought patterns. I also learned to live the 7 virtues with a great group of peers who all supported each other! Thanks to what I learned at St. Gregory, with a clear and sober head I am able to address and “fix” other flaws and weaknesses as well. Don’t waste your time anywhere else.

I have been going to UCS for over 10 years now for everything from medication assisted treatment to mental health care to getting a check up. I felt the need to write a review because I have noticed a significant change in the way patients are being treated and it is amazing to see that they are no longer putting a focus on punitive ideology and instead are listening to the reason for the trouble they are having. It is very refreshing to see. I also have a Human Services degree and a focus on getting my CADC certification so I can help people who are now going through what I spent years of my life trying to get past. I have seen a shift from the status quo and punishment for cannabis related issues. Which is also a big reason I am able to cope with PTSD and not even think about taking another painkiller for my own reasons. I hope that I can see a further bridging of the disconnect that still remains within the treatment community between patients and caregivers. It is a good start UCS!! THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO US!!

I want to take a moment to thank Dr. Joyce Lines for the exceptional care she provided throughout my pregnancy and during delivery. I love her so much! She is gentle, listens attentively, truly cares, and is simply wonderful and amazing. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the nurses, especially Catelynne (I hope I spelled that correctly), for her outstanding support during labor and recovery. Catelynne was incredible. FreshPath Recovery came through for me when I thought I was outta options. From day one, the vibe was chill and welcoming — no judgment, just real ones who get what you’re going through. The staff? Straight-up lifesavers. They kept it honest, pushed me when I needed it, and always had my back. What hit different here was how personal everything felt. They weren’t just clocking in — they actually cared. The detox was tough, no lie, but they made sure I felt supported every step. I walked out with a clear head, a stronger mindset, and a plan. If you’re ready to bounce back, FreshPath is the move.

Kristen shared a lot of valuable information that wasn't just about completing a requirement, but about really learning how alcohol can impact our lives and how to make better choices moving forward. I also had a substance abuse evaluation with Felicia Chumley, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She is one of the kindest, most attentive people I've met in this process. YSS saved my life, then gave me purpose in life. I was a very troubled kid, a burden on society, and my parents were at their wit's end. They were desperate when they turned to YSS. And while I fought it at first (couldn't stand authority), I eventually surrendered to the program/the process and my life turned 180 degrees. Today, as a person in long-term recovery, my purpose is to create hope and opportunities for others that are struggling. Got me set up with groups & individual counselling that have been beneficial to me. Thank you very much April, Dana, Jessie & Caroline for your help & patience with me because I know I've been difficult at making my appointments & other places would have discharged me by now. I'm so happy that yous are still here for me.😘💯❤️

Located in Des Moines, Iowa, is UnityPoint Health’s Iowa Methodist Medical Center. It’s not too far from Rotary Riverwalk Park. This is a medical campus that offers everything from emergency room services to inpatient treatment and outpatient care for routine health checks that require more extensive care than you’d receive at a primary c
I was there with my boyfriend and I did not like the flex unit but we got the sweetest nurse Carina in the Powell unit on level 4 she was super sweet and very respectful and was very good at her job. She needs a raise.

The doctors are all at the top of their field and I’ve had magnificent care from seeing Keegan in the ER when I first arrived to Dr McIntyre. Later I saw Dr Reyes & Dr Rice who performed my ERCP & Dr Mira & surgical teams who will do the lengthy and complicated procedures needed for Friday’s surgeries. They have all communicated very effectively, have comforting bedside manners which have a helped keep me feeling confident in their abilities to successfully complete these complex & lengthy procedures. The nurses here have all been terrific after a bumpy start in the ER. Once we smoothed that over, I’ve never had any nurses come close to the quality, compassion and care each and their techs have shown. 10/10 for all medical professionals at Iowa Methodist Medical Centre. Congrats!

Jessi Allard was my therapist/counselor at EFR. That woman helped me change my life within a year. I pushed and tried so hard because I was at rock bottom and she did not let me fail. She showed me that I was capable and worthy of so much in life. It is very rare for me to find a therapist that would listen to me. So finding Jessi and getting an actual diagnosis was the best thing that could have ever happened to me! When I needed extra help she scheduled me twice a week, and if I needed space or less time it would be once a week. She is very accommodating, very outgoing, very stylish, full of life, and a great listener! I highly highly recommend Jessi! P.s If you are struggling with mental illness or think that this is the end of the road it’s not!!!! You got this and there is help!!!! ❤️
