About First Counseling, INC

First Counseling Inc of Olive Branch, Mississippi provides outpatient treatment for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Taking a compassionate, empathetic approach, they strive to ensure that clients are able to lead “a full, happy, and well balanced life.”

Offering the convenience of an in house pharmacy through First Pharmacy Family of Medical Services, they share hours between the counseling practice and the pharmacy to make sure that client prescriptions are delivered quickly and with ease.

Collaboration Between Counselors and Pharmacy

Services are structured for adults and adolescents with individual and group counseling sessions. I appreciate that they provide a client centered, whole person approach, using comprehensive assessments and medication management to individualize treatment plans.

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a focus, and there’s an emphasis on collaboration between therapy providers and their pharmacy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available, using Suboxone to safely and comfortably treat the effects of opioid dependence.

Feeling Heard and Supported

I found mixed reviews of the facility, with many former clients praising the kindness, professionalism, and genuine care of the staff. They speak of feeling heard and supported during treatment.

Others, however, express concerns about the difficulty reaching providers and abrupt transitions when doctors leave the practice, indicating room for improvement. Some describe frustrations over unclear billing and overdue balance notices.

We tried for 3 weeks to get an appointment for my husband who has been going here for 5 + years. Y’all should be ashamed to not answer phone calls for patients who need their medicine. Unprofessional. If you were going out of business you should have had the decency to let us know that way we could find another doctor before he ran out of meds.

Trying to schedule an appt for my son and no one will answer the phone and the option for leaving a mssg is not happening because the machine says the mailbox is full. Pharmacist in the building says that no one has been there for a while and doesn't think they are in business. If you are going to close your doors at least have the decency to let us know.

Standard outpatient services enable clients to attend addiction counseling and recovery education throughout the week, with many centers offering weekend, night, and evening sessions to accommodate clients' work and family schedules.
