Wanted to share my latest experience here at Oxford. I did have some reactions to the detox meds and instead of taking any chances they sent me to the emergency room in Oxford to get checked out as I am a previous stroke victim. I appreciated the concern on my behalf the medical staff had for me.
And I want to give a special shout out to Michelle Lytham who was the person they sent to pick me after after I was cleared at the hospital. She remembered me from another time I was a client her and met me with a huge smile and was very concerned. On the ride home she went on and on about making sure I was ok. They are lucky to have her on staff. Also my therapist Sabrina and my case manager Monica are going above and beyond to try to see that I do not return unless I'm coming to speak as an alumni.
Also was happy to see Barry in the morning meetings. Such an insightful guy when it comes to addiction and addressing the clients in a knowledgeable and fun way. Oxford is lucky to have him as well.
I guess I shouldn't expect that a 35 year addiction would go away easily.
But as some people say
"third times the charm" I know much better this time what not to do after leaving. Hope to come back as an experienced speaker. Much love to all

The Extra Mile is an extremely special place. The team is incredible and is supportive and works cohesively to provide care to every individual. They foster a sense of community and truly impact the lives of individuals on a personal level. I know some of the most amazing individuals both clients and staff alike who I have worked alongside through my journey at the mile and can say that each continue to impact my life on a daily basis in the most incredible ways.
There’s a balance between structure and reflection to help individuals learn to have fun while being sober (this can be a scary and foreign thing to many in early recovery) while assisting in self-reflection and growth helping individuals connect through a combination of different treatment modalities tailoring to different learning styles too while also connecting to community, demonstrating what it means to have a support group, and offering time for exploration of self.
Extra Mile Recovery is truly a special place.

If you're seeking to enhance your quality of life and need assistance with managing various challenges such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and more, this is the place to turn to. I’ve read some of the negative reviews and I don’t agree with people saying that team of professionals don’t really help. Truth be told that if you’re going anywhere expecting someone to fix you then that is the root of the problem. You have to WANT to help yourself first, putting in the hard work that it takes before anyone can help you. My experience with them was exceptional and far surpassed my expectations. Making the decision to seek their help was one of the best choices I've made in selecting my healthcare team. The fact that my family and friends have noticed changes in my behavior and actions demonstrates their expertise and effectiveness. I've never encountered a facility where so many therapists, the doctor, nurse, and administrative staff work seamlessly as a cohesive team. Elizabeth, Rob, Laura, Star, Stuart, Jennifer, Trina, Mitch, Danielle, Shelby, and Justin will make things happen for you, again, if you’re putting in the work! Their administrative team, Angel and Andrea are the absolute BEST! Their nurse, Monica has me remembering my medications by memory including the dosages/frequencies. And Dr. Raj is authentic, he listens, and will keep it real with you. Therefore, if you're committed to making positive changes and gaining control over the issues I mentioned, this organized team of professionals can assist you in achieving your goals. Thank me later!

This facility was such a blessing for me! I was very apprehensive at first, some things were scary at first but the staff helped me my making me feel important to them as a patient. I was well taken care of on the east side unit. I was given everything I needed and more. Meds, meals, and breaks on a steady schedule. Plenty of group sessions, music therapy, art therapy, equestrian therapy, recreational therapy, substance abuse therapy, etc. etc. etc. There was never a dull moment throughout the day! Always something to do to help the healing process.
The food was absolutely excellent as well. Even a salad bar available at lunchtime everyday. Plenty of options to choose from. My absolute favorite part of my stay was the techs, nurses, and the therapists. 1 tech, Cassandra on day shift! She especially made me so comfortable. She pulled me out of my shell from day one, and until my last day there. She was a godsend. She was so caring of people's' situations and feelings. She also had group sessions and counciling as well. She went out of her way to be nice and caring while still maintaining order as per her directives. She always had something nice so say and was so encouraging to everyone. I will never forget her for all her help and she deserves praise from Parkwood for doing such an awesome job! She easily maintained control of a group full of people in which all were having an array of issues. In my eyes she deserves a medal for her 25 years of service! I have not 1 complaint on my treatment. Also Mrs. Shakira was totally awesome as a therapist. She helped with all my appointments for my aftercare plan. She also led multiple group sessions that were very helpful. And Mr. Brian(t), the nighttime tech was a huge help with ending our days. He monitored all the patients on this unit every night of his work week. He went out of his way to help us with anything we needed, within reason. He was also the one who woke us up in the morning. He was super patient with us all. I will not hesitate to go back if I ever I need to. This place is the best facility I've ever tried. Highly recommended! Ask for the east unit if you go. You won't be disappointed. Its really not that scary. If you need help, get it here!

The worst 4 days of my life. I came out worse than when I went in. I was truely traumatized by my stay. Nursing staff was uncaring and cruel. Techs slept in the hallways while doing 1:1 watch. I was left in soiled scrubs (menstrual blood and breast milk, as I had been nursing an infant at the time) for over 24 hours without being given clean scrubs or the clothing my family delivered. Other patients, some who had been there for weeks, were denied clean towels and laundry services. We ate dinner at 4:30 p.m. and were not permitted to eat again until 9 a.m., and were also denied regular access to water. And the Human Resources Stacy did nothing to help me

Memphis, TN | Compass Intervention Center is a drug and alcohol rehab center located in Memphis, TN. They provide substance abuse treatment and psychiatric care for children and teens. Addiction-related services at this facility include inpatient addiction treatment, outpatient and intensive outpatient addiction treatment. Inpatient addiction treatment This prog | Treatments Programs Payment Options | Dear Compass Faculty (And my rock-on therapist Mr. Husain 🤘),
As an honest review, Compass Intervention Center and their staff—excluding the bitter bunch in which a large majority of these reviews are angry towards—have done things for me I would have never realized until it came into fruition, and when I had permissible moments to act on those teachings. I entered March of 2023, and got out August of the same year, and endured 1 month of intensive outpatient— it has been a journey since then. Let me remenisce, and give what I've learned.
It is important to recognize that everybody's stay is unique not only to their treatment, but also under the inevitability of group therapy sessions and cramped spacing; there is always bound to be conflict. A large number of the teenagers complaining here are indubitably indignant and likely for good reasons, but none of them touch on what they could gather from it.
Compass Intervention Center in the grand scheme of it's intention is a broad system of tough love, independent garnering, and isolation. Those three conditions can have drastic effects on mental health, positive and negative, dependent on one's susceptibility to information. One of the first things Compass teaches you is schedule, and importance of the present. Although people can take their resentment with a full convicted reason to be angry, a crucial piece that they also teach is mechanical indifference. Learning not to give in to pressure, and thus that is where we learn coping mechanisms that suit our needs and are socially permissable (I still have my stress ball on my shelf, thank you Mr. Husain 🙏). As well, isolation can be subjective but also literal in an abstract sense, as we become keenly aware that all that we know is now no longer within our grasp, but we focus on what isn't in our grasp anymore rather than what is within our reach. It's always easier to leave something broken than take the time to fix it.
These skill sets are crucial, and a large portion of the patients focus purely on their surroundings rather than contemplating any of the therapy set in front of them, and those that finally decide to take their therapy seriously are those that walk out anew. It isn't prison, despite how rough it got in there; nearly all of the staff tried their best to keep us safe, and what is growth without external factors to temper it, and harden the growth to ensure we don't digress? That's therapy ya'll.

We've been here twice. All his clothes were lost, including his shoes, that are expensive and specific to his gait and disabilities. They went home with another child, despite my son repeatedly pointing out that they filed his shoes under the wrong name. He came home barefoot, and we had to buy a different shoe that doesn't work as well because the kind he needs were sold out that day. Losing his clothes is a genuinely big deal, and it happened both times.
Otherwise, the staff are responsive and kind. It's easy to get info and stay informed. Everybody stays current with his chart, his allergies, and whatnot.

Dr Meadows is far one of the most genuine and compassionate people I’ve ever had the honor to meet. He listened to me (without judgement) and began a new treatment plan for my severe insomnia! I thank the good Lord he is part of my care team now! Will be a lifetime friend and caretaker

For my 12 year old.she drifts off.she jumps out of her sleep.terrified that her dad is going to do something to her.he has destroyed her mental and physically.every since she was 7.she so gone .i have to call her name more than 5 times to get het attention. And she anti social.dont like crowds i think she has anxiety and moderate depression .she feels like she not beautiful and people calls her ugly. I think this trauma her father caused messed her up.he pulled a gun on her,let her other siblings brothers touch and feel on her.and made her sleep in a cold basement for days at a time wouldnt feed her.when i got her back she was mt.nourished.she didn't look the same .i couldn't recognize who she was.he brung back her back dirty and hungry .she needs help.she shuts me out.when i asks her what's wrong with her. I try to make her feel safe, letting her know that she is safe and harm will never come to her and that she dont have to be afraid of anything or her father .i worry about her every day and i comfort her when shes down.she under me most of the time.and sometimes we just sit around, and she'll just start talking about what her other siblings and farther have done to her out of nowhere. When she vents to me.about it i get furiated and mad.but i dont let her see that.ithink i felled her as a mom.i wasnt there to save her from this abuse.but she dont hold that against me. She new i was going through alot at that time .she understood.i just want her to be more open with me.and her other 2 sisters, who's 13 and11.i wanthem close like they where when they was little.my other 2 daughter's are going through something too.they both lost their farthers. I dont have clue how they feel.ive asked them, how are they feeling.they say they alright.but their strongs little girls.and they dont let show .but i know.im their mom.thats all my girls know .ALL WE HAVE IS EACH OTHER..THATS ALL WE NEED TO KNOW. "TO TELL U THE TRUTH, THEY KNOW MORE ABOUT ME, THAN ME."I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR ANYTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD.I LOVE ALL 4 OF MY CHILDREN.MY 1ST BORN "PRINCE" SON JARVIS.HE WAS BORN04/03/2007.AND DEPARTED FROM US IN10/16/2010.HE IS TRULY LOVED AND MISSED. AND I HAVE 3 GOD BLESSED ME WITH AFTER HIM."MY 3 PRINCESSES ARE:MIYANA MY 2ND BORN,01/23/2010.MY 3RD BORN JARVIA 03/11/2011.AND LASTLY MY BABYGIRL,ARIYAH 06/20/2012.They never knew of him.but he knew his sister miyana.she was only 6months when he passed. I tell them about him every chance i get.but get a little moochy eyed cause they always wanted to know him, they knew he was their big brother. They misses him more than me.Its been hard for all of us.i want my girls to know that i love them.and i will always be there."ALWAYS AND 4 EVER.
