Our family will be forever grateful for Stonewater.
Making the decision to send our son to treatment was the hardest thing we’ve ever done, but looking back, it was also one of the best decisions we could have made. From the moment he arrived, the staff genuinely cared about him—not just his recovery, but who he was as a person.
Stonewater provided the structure, accountability, compassion, and support he needed to begin rebuilding his life. Recovery isn’t easy, but the team challenged him while encouraging him every step of the way. They also reminded us that healing is a family journey. Through family therapy and support, we grew alongside our son.
Watching him graduate from both Stonewater and high school was something we once weren’t sure would be possible. Today, we have hope for his future, and we know Stonewater played a tremendous role in helping him get there.
To every therapist, mentor, nurse, and staff member—thank you for believing in our son and for the work you do every day. You truly change lives. We will always be grateful.❤️

My nephew recently celebrated his 3 year sobriety anniversary. I am so proud of the young man he is becoming!
Stonewater was the first part of his recovery and our family will forever be grateful for the tools and support he was given during that first 90 days. With Stonewater's structured program, removing distraction relearning to slow down and enjoy his surroundings. He started thinking more clearly and was able to realize that if he wanted to live a full life, he was going to have to put in the work to stay sober.
And he certainly has.
My sister was extremely scared when she first dropped him off at Stonewater and kept questioning if she had made the right decision. But very quickly I noticed a change in her and she began to relax and actually smile again. She was able to attend support groups and education workshops, and even be involved in therapy sessions all while living in a different state. So, not only did Stonewater help my nephew, but it helped my sister and our entire family.
If you are looking for a treatment center for your teenage son, I would highly recommend that you give Stonewater great consideration. It is a decision that you will not live to regret!

I am KaNiya White, and I consider myself a proud Compass veteran. I attended Compass PHP five times between the ages of 14 and 18 between 2021 and 2025. Compass truly helped shape who I am today. I often say I grew up there because many staff members knew me across multiple admissions and continued to support me. At times, it genuinely felt like a second family.
PHP is not perfect. The days are long, there is limited outdoor time, frequent peer conflict, and you spend much of the day in the same spot. You are often expected to ignore peers who intentionally provoke you, group punishments can feel unfair, and the schoolwork is very basic, which can leave you behind academically. There were also a few staff members who were unprofessional at times, though they were NOT the majority.
What mattered most was the support. Many staff members were a genuine shoulder to cry on during some of the hardest moments of my life. I've had deep, life changing one on one conversations with staff who truly cared about me as a person. I trusted them deeply and they know things about me that even my parents do not. I genuinely do not think I would be alive today without the help I received at Compass.
I want to recognize staff who played an important role in my life. Mrs. Khalia, Nurse Nayla, Nurse Shylo, Mrs. Whitney, Mrs. Loreda, Mrs. T, Mr. Travis, Mr. Zach, Mrs. V, Mrs. Tatianna, Mrs. Holloway, Mrs. Debra, Mr. Michael, Mrs. Katelyn, Nurse Connie, Mrs. Braden, Mrs. Kendra, Mrs. Kurshi, Mrs. Tamika, and Mrs. Trenika. Some no longer work there, but they deserve recognition for the impact they had on me.
My therapist, Mr. Zach, had the greatest impact. He never gave up on me, pushed me out of my comfort zone in a healthy way, and helped me find my voice. He challenged me when I needed it and supported me when things were hard. He was the best therapist I have ever had.
Despite its flaws, PHP also had meaningful positives. Step aways to talk privately with staff, process groups which were my favorite, the reward and Victory Bucks system, occasional art activities for victory members, and respect for preferred names and pronouns.
When I first came to Compass at 14, I was shy, withdrawn, and unsure of myself. When I left for the final time at 18, I had confidence, stronger coping skills, motivation to live, and had worked through my trauma. Compass inspired me to pursue psychology. I am now in college majoring in Psychology and working toward becoming an LPC, and I hope one day to give back the way Compass once gave to me by being an intern there somehow.
Overall, I am grateful for my time at Compass and for how much I grew there.

I was admitted to Lakeside Hospital's Patriot unit on 6/28/26 for alcohol detox. The Patriot unit is only for military veterans. After completing my intake, I was brought up to my unit. It was around 1 AM When I got up there they showed me to my room and I was allowed to just crawl in bed and get some sleep. They wake you up at 4:45-5 AM every morning and immediately take your vital signs. After that, we had coffee and were taken downstairs to smoke a cigarette. After that, we come back upstairs and we can either go back to bed, or sit in the day room and watch TV until breakfast, which is not until 8:45 AM. A bit long of a wait if you asked me. We eat our meals downstairs in the cafeteria. It has a nice view of a pond and really tall trees. The food is less than stellar to say the least. All 3 meals. You will definitely gain weight by the time you are eventually discharged. Very high calorie food. The food there is hit or miss. Some meals were great! Others I would not even give to my dogs. Many patients ended up constipated. After we ate we usually had some sort of group "therapy". If your hoping to receive classes on the reason why you are there "Alcohol, drugs, anxiety, depression" you won't be getting them. The classes they teach are absolutely irrelevant to your treatment plan, and I felt the classes were intended to just kill time during the day. I got nothing out of them and I eventually stopped attending. We also have a recreational class everyday. Games, art, trivia, bingo. If it's not raining they open the doors so you can go outside and get some sun and fresh air. I really enjoyed that class. You get your meds 2 times a day. Early morning, and around 8pm. There is a ton of downtime to relax, play games, watch movies, or nap. You can do laundry 2 times a week, and visitation is on Monday Evening from 6:30-730. This is the ONLY time you will be able to see your family or friends. There are phones in your unit that you can use at certain times of the day. Lights out is at 10 pm. I just wanted to let you all know what a typical day consists of at this place. But, like I said, I was in the Patriot unit. It was always laid back and relaxing. Now....the other units in the building are a nightmare. 3 people to a room compared to our 2 per room. I honestly had my own room for 9 out of 11 nights which was awesome. The East unit is constant chaos. That is where they send the troublemakers and psychos. Constantly fighting, screaming, and arguing. The West unit is pretty much the same but less fights. They use the term "Code Yellow" when a big fight has broken out. I heard that over the intercom at least 10 times a day for the East unit. All in all I had a really good detox. The meds saved my life to be honest. If I had to rate my own experience in my particular unit, I would give it a 9/10. Only because they wake you up way too early for no reason. Our unit techs were incredible! Shout out to Dean, Kristy, Ethan, and also Amber our daytime medicine nurse. They were all amazing They made daily life, during a very difficult time, very enjoyable and comfortable. Always taking care of our needs such as getting us water, clean linens, towels and shower stuff, snacks, or just having a conversation. Well, that's pretty much all I got. Thanks for reading and I hope this review helps
