The day after my 50th birthday. I was extremely upset and disappointed with myself. But something told me that I belonged there. And I made the best decision of my life. To stay there. I stayed for the mandatory 3 months and then an extra four more. Not only did I learn to stop drinking and live life without alcohol, but I leather be an adult. To ask for help. And most importantly I learned that I was not alone in my life or my journey. Wonderful place with great staff. You may not know it or believe it but this place is the BEST chance you have at getting sober and learning how to live a good life. Period. Nathan Gee 5 months ago I've been attending this facility for over 10 years. I have personally not had any problems here and like this clinic more than any of the others that I've attended. Over the years the staff members that have remained have really grown, in a good way. I have always worked my program, so I haven't had any reason to have "bad" experiences. Every clinic has rules. I am grateful for this place and after transferring elsewhere, because I moved out of state, I transferred back as soon as I moved back to the area. I drive an hour each way to attend this clinic because it's a great place. Some of the staff has changed over the years, I have personally gotten along just fine with everyone. As I work towards coming off of medication assisted treatment, after having success from all of these years in treatment, I do feel that GPA is trying to help me accomplish my long term goals. These people wouldn't be here if they didn't care about what they do. Side note: I felt compelled to leave this review after reading so many negative ones, and seeing that there hasn't been very many more current reviews. I really appreciated the ability to isolate in my room, unlike other facilities that lock the rooms during the day. That was a necessity for me as an autistic person, in order to prevent overwhelm and truly feel safe. Therapy groups could be stressful, but I wasn't forced to attend which I really appreciate. The food is prepared fresh EVERY meal by actual trained Chefs. Not only do they serve amazing food, they genuinely care about the clients. This plays a HUGE part with clients getting the nutrients they need to heal and grow. I enjoyed every meal and conversation with them. The staff to client ratio here is the best I have experienced at this level of care. All of the staff from the techs, nurses, counselors, clinical directors, providers, and admissions do their job well. They ACTUALLY care about the clients and get to know them personally. My Counselor was absolutely amazing. He helped me out more than he could know. I also had my moments with stress and frustration. It was handled with understanding and empathy, rather than judgement or punishment. Thank you brother, I am very grateful we met. My medication provider got to know me on a personal level and they listened to my situation and needs. THEY ABSOLUTELY DO NOT OVERPRESCRIBE or make you suffer with a poor taper. It was a breath of fresh air after previous experiences. My medication that was prescribed helped me stabilize and improve my mood and experience. I plan on staying on the prescribed medication and continuing my psychiatric care. Aldo the techs do an amazing job. They are on the front lines night and day with new admission patients. They actually get to know the clients and participate in their recovery as well. Some of them even participate in activities with clients. They deal with a lot at times and they handle it professionally and with compassion. The nurses also got to know me on a personal level. They genuinely care about the clients needs and well being. Medication time was always warm and welcoming. Also sometimes I would discuss any issues I was having and they would listen. I had a cardiac emergency from a genetic heart condition and the nurses worked hard to stabilize me. IT LITERALLY helped save my life. I am beyond grateful for this. 🙏 Tomorrow is my last day here after a 30 day stay. I can honestly say I will miss the staff and food from here. If you stay in GRATITUDE you can heal and grow here. We all have our moments, that is what recovery is. Learning to stick and stay with the plan, even when all you want to do is run! The staff here helped see me all the way to the finish line. He genuinely cares, listens, and has a way of helping you look at things differently without making you feel judged. Nate and Lawrence are also amazing chefs. The food was consistently good, and that may sound like a small thing, but when you're going through detox and having a difficult time physically and mentally, having good meals really does make a difference. The techs, nursing staff (Howard, Justin, Denise, Joi, Lisa, LeAnn, Beth, and Millie the Wonder Dog), and nurse practitioners (Brooke & James) were also very good. I felt like the majority of the staff truly cared about the people they were helping and understood how difficult detox can be. Detox is obviously not somewhere anyone wants to have to go, but the people at Sunrise made a very difficult situation much more manageable.
