Hurricane, UT | Embark Behavioral Health – Hurricane, located in Hurricane, Utah is a private alcohol and drug rehab that offers treatment for a variety of substance abuse addictions including co-occurring mental health disorders. At Embark Behavioral Health – Hurricane additional levels of care offered include recovery housing. Specialty rehab programs at Emb | Treatments | Our family’s journey through the Embark system began after my son’s stay at Sunrise, where I came to appreciate not only the quality of the clinical care and school, but also the optional parent support group and required DBT training. The biggest shift for me was realizing that treatment wasn’t just about changing my son—it was about changing our family system. I learned that I had an important role in his healing, too.
When my son needed a higher level of care, he transferred to Embark Hurricane. As difficult as that transition was, the continuity between Sunrise and Hurricane made all the difference. Because Taylor already knew both my son and me, I trusted his judgment completely. The entire team rallied around our family during an incredibly stressful time.
Allen, my son's therapist at Hurricane, was exceptional. He helped break through a treatment logjam and remained engaged with me throughout my son's stay. Billy took the time to ensure I felt comfortable with the transition, and I left believing my son was in exactly the right place. Dan, the Executive Director, made sure my son had a voice after an incident that was important to him. Daniel Payne patiently walked me through the financial implications of the transfer, which eased another major source of stress. Ben was supportive and provided great insight into my son’s progress, he also challenged some of my entrenched thoughts.
The support extended beyond therapy. The Sunrise team was instrumental in helping us navigate my son's IEP process, while the Hurricane team worked closely with us on transition planning to prepare him for returning home.
Today, my son has been home for one day. We both still have work ahead of us, but we have both grown through this experience. That is what I want other families to know: this is not just treatment for a child—it is treatment for an entire family system. Sunrise and Embark Hurricane both embrace that philosophy, and our family is stronger because of it. I am deeply grateful for the care, guidance, and support we received throughout this long, hard phase.

We are so incredibly thankful for the experience we had with Embark Behavioral Health. When we were at a total loss for our next move with our son who was experiencing behavioral issues- Embark became the option we explored and so thankful we did. From the first initial contact/call with staffing to the last- the organization of everything alone was outstanding. The office staff/medical staff/counselors all presented with phenomenal communication. Although the stay ended sooner than we had hoped due to insurance- our son returned with obvious improvement and a skill set that I know he’ll take with him for a lifetime. We thank Embark for all they did for our family and will forever highly recommend their care!

Our family is incredibly grateful for the support, guidance, and care we received during our child’s time at Embark. Mental health is not an overnight journey — it requires patience, dedication, consistency, and the right tools to continue moving forward long after treatment ends. Embark helped provide those tools and created a foundation for continued growth and healing.
The staff showed compassion, professionalism, and genuine care throughout the process, and we always felt supported during a very challenging season of life. We are thankful for the progress made, the lessons learned, and the path forward we now have as a family. Today, we celebrate success, growth, and hope for the future.
A huge thank you to Daniel, Jared, Taylor, Lorraine, and all of the incredible support staff who played such an important role in this journey. Your patience, encouragement, and dedication truly made a lasting impact on our family, and we are forever grateful.

I can’t say enough good things about Steps Recovery Center. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. The staff truly went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and supported throughout my time there.
One of the things I appreciated most was the sense of community. I made some really meaningful friendships, and the groups were honestly amazing. I actually looked forward to going to group, which I never expected! The conversations, support, and connections I made are something I’ll always be grateful for.
And I have to mention the food—it was incredible! Having good meals every day made such a difference and was definitely an unexpected bonus. 😊
Overall, Steps Recovery Center gave me a safe and supportive environment where I felt cared for and understood. I’m incredibly grateful for the staff, the friendships I made, and everything I learned during my time there. I would absolutely recommend Steps to anyone looking for a place where they will be treated with genuine kindness and compassion.

Virgin, UT | Located in the southwestern corner of Utah, in the small town of Virgin, is the Liahona Treatment Center. This is a residential treatment facility for boys who are struggling with behavioral health challenges, have co-occurring mental health disorders, engage in at risk behaviors, or have struggled with substance use. The residential treatment prog | Treatments Programs Payment Options | When I sent my Godson to Liahona Academy, it was the hardest decision that I ever made. He has recently graduated, and I now know that it was also the best decision that I ever made. He struggled in the beginning, but once he finally understood that I only wanted him to become a better person, he started making changes. He is now ahead in school, has great grades, and an excellent relationship with anyone that he wants to have a relationship with. I can guarantee that if you sent your son here and you give him time to figure it out, he eventually will, and you will never regret your decision. My Godson came out of Liahona academy as a completely transformed man.
He was a child with all kinds of manipulative “techniques”. Now he is a reborn man, a man who is honest and sincere, a man who you can count on to be a positive leader and have a great attitude.
I am grateful for all the staff at Liahona academy, and especially for his therapist Benjamin Haslam, the program director, Richard May, and the case manager, Beverly Carayas.
THANK YOU 🙏🏻

I was sent to Liahona Academy on September 20, 2019. I graduated on May 7, 2021. This placed changed my life. If I was not sent here, I would be either dead, homeless, or in jail. I was skipping school nearly every day and my grades were terrible. My relationship with my parents was terrible. I was smoking weed almost every day. I dreaded every aspect of my life. Now, I am a year ahead of my regular grade, with a GPA of 3.78. My relationship with my parents is fantastic. I don’t ever want to go back to my old life. I love this new life. I recommend that any parent who is struggling with their teen to send them here. It will be a very hard decision, but I can 100% guarantee that it will be worth it.

Liahona was our last hope and nothing short of a miracle for saving my son’s life. The Liahona approach allows customized care based on timing of each boy’s willingness to embrace the opportunity for real, lasting change. The Owner Clay along with Rich, Bear and Beverly were wonderful to work with! The Liahona Virgin campus team have built an amazing program with a successful track record and long-term results at treating the whole person, not just the symptoms of bad behavior/substance abuse, but dares to dig deeper uncovering root causes of the problems. My son was a complex case as he exhibited erratic and dangerous behavior along with lingering effects of substance abuse which could have ended his life on multiple occasions prior to admittance. The highly-structured environment with set “wake” and “lights-out” times, allows the boys to get into a healthy, balanced and predictable schedule resulting in a solid foundation to become the best versions of themselves and make the most of the program. The well-regulated agenda culminates dependable sleep patterns, individual and group therapy, chores, healthy and consistent meals, with time built-in for exercise, school, homework, faith (of any kind or none at all), personal growth, journaling and reading. Based on progress, working the program and meeting milestones, the boys can earn group outings that may include volunteering a chance to give back to the community, or a fun outing like bowling, hiking or trip to the lake, etc. The staff at the Virgin facility were simply amazing! I can’t thank Rich (Program Director) and Bear (our son’s Therapist) enough for their vision and “lead by example” approach to earn credibility, respect and have such a positive power of influence over the most challenging of behaviors. Bear was very honest that our son was one of the more complex cases he had seen and that he wasn’t sure if Liahona would be the “best fit” for him. Bear was absolutely remarkable in treating my son, from day 1, as a fully 100% capable individual and he saw through the façade of substance psychosis, anger, low self-esteem, manipulative and self-centered behavior. The value of the Liahona program incorporates a loving and supportive environment, patiently allowing each boy to come to their own realization and choose to begin the journey-cycle of initiating progress, resulting in gaining confidence, motivating them to work harder, embracing the courage to face adversity and proving to themselves they are capable of setting goals and exceeding expectations. The Liahona program results in building confidence, fueling motivation for more continued growth and is the recipe for achieving not only success in Liahona but prepares each boy for a successful life outside of Liahona in the real world. My son entered Liahona as a troubled boy and graduated the program as a confident young man, eager to work hard, face adversity, exceed every goal placed in front of him, fully equipped with the knowledge and desire to help others along the way. We couldn’t be more proud and are forever grateful to the incredible staff and program at Liahona for doing God’s work here on earth!

This clinic is the best in town by LEAPS. My husband and I sadly had to move back to Washington state but we were wiring with Loren the director to do our intake and she was just incredibly helpful and so kind. Methadone still gets a bad rap (even though it shouldn’t) she made us feel genuinely supported and not just like a number in line (the other in town clinic does unfortunately so don’t waste your time even trying) if we move back to Utah we will be BACK! Thank you Loren for all of your time and help and kindness! You are spectacular and so is your team and clinic!!!!! (Side note, the prices are MUCH better even if you are self pay) I do wish they have sub shot but either way it’s worth staying because the quality of care I could tell is super!!!

When our son arrived at Forte Strong, our family was exhausted, overwhelmed, and honestly out of answers. What started as a slow decline over several years had eventually spiraled into depression, anxiety, substance abuse challenges, hospitalizations, and interactions with law enforcement. We had reached the limits of what we could do on our own and knew we needed help.
What we didn’t fully understand at the time was that Forte Strong would not only help our son—it would help our entire family.
Our son is incredibly bright and capable, but he also struggles with autism and ADHD, diagnoses he did not receive until adulthood. Looking back, so many things made sense through that lens, but by the time he arrived at Forte, our family dynamic had become unhealthy in ways we didn’t fully recognize. Forte Strong helped us see that with honesty, compassion, and zero judgment.
One of the greatest gifts Forte gave us was helping us understand that growth requires discomfort, struggle, accountability, and independence—not constant rescuing. They taught us how to separate what feels urgent from what actually is urgent, how to hold boundaries, and how to support our son without unintentionally reinforcing unhealthy patterns.
The staff at Forte Strong are exceptional. They deeply understand young adult men and the challenges they face, and time and time again they were able to predict situations and behaviors with remarkable accuracy. As frustrating as that occasionally was in the moment, it was also incredibly reassuring because it meant our son was in the hands of people who truly knew what they were doing.
The weekly parent webinars and family support were equally life-changing for us. They provided practical guidance, emotional support, and a community of parents who understood this experience in a way few others can. Those calls became one of the most meaningful parts of our week.
Most importantly, Forte Strong helped give our son his life back. His progress has not been linear—there have been setbacks along the way—but he is in a far healthier and more hopeful place than he was before arriving there. He has built friendships, coping strategies, confidence, and independence in ways we honestly once thought might not be possible.
Forte Strong is not a “quick fix,” because there is no quick fix. What they provide is something far more valuable: structure, accountability, support, expertise, and the opportunity for real growth—for both the young men there and their families.
We will always be deeply grateful for the role Forte Strong has played in our son’s life and in ours.

What a great program!!! teaches you how to become independent step by step!!! Each step you take builds a great ladder of success as an adult. From budgeting, to managing a vehicle, to finding the perfect job. Are there gonna be some bumps and complications along the way, definitely, but with the support of the staff coaches and your housemates, you can get through it fast. I’ve learned that there are a lot of of great benefits and opportunities that arrive from here. A great example is that I’ve been working at two jobs I enjoy, plus I met my wife during the program. We have been married one year this year!! I hope many of the new faces at forte get to discover this same bonding and companionship that I had.

Saint George, UT | Cinnamon Hills is a residential treatment program for youth who are 12 to 17 and have emotional or behavioral difficulties. This Center is located in Saint George, Utah next to Red Cliffs National Conservation Area. They are located on an urban campus right off I-100 and can be accessed via the Suntran Bus System. They are 109 miles north of Las V | Treatments Programs Payment Options | My kid was here for 11 months. They took him when no other place would because he had a history of aggression. It is a very restrictive environment - kids can’t leave campus for the first five months, then they can only leave with a parent for 3 hours. It basically felt like juvee with therapy. He couldn’t bring any personal items with him - not even his own underwear. Which, sadly, was what my kid needed and completely reformed him. He was able to get a new mindset and take ownership for his bad behaviors and make the changes he needed. He was able to finish their program in 11 months, which is unusual- most kids take 12-18 months. He was also able to keep up with his academics, which was amazing since he had lost a lot of time while he was struggling earlier.
They have set up the structure so that it’s clear what you need to do to get out, and a kid with the right mindset can do it once they set their mind to it. I am only giving 4 starts because they were very restrictive and didn’t prepare him to COME HOME. Because of their highly restrictive program, even once my kid graduated to their second phase, he had little freedom so we didn’t feel comfortable bringing him home without having him do a step down transition first. It is very old school, but might be what your kid needs if they are really struggling.

Cinnamon Hills Youth Crisis Center truly cares about young people in a way that goes far beyond supervision or “babysitting.” The staff see these kids not as problems to manage, but as individuals with potential, worth, and a future.
What sets this program apart is its commitment to long-term success. They don’t just focus on short-term stabilization — they help youth build the skills, confidence, and support systems they need for life. The staff actively encourage and support students in staying on track academically, working toward graduation, and believing that finishing high school is not only possible but expected.
The team creates structure, accountability, and genuine connection. They provide guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for growth that many of these youth may not have experienced before. It’s clear they want each young person to leave not just stabilized, but stronger, more hopeful, and better prepared for adulthood.
If you are looking for a crisis center that truly invests in youth — their healing, their education, and their future — this is a place that makes a real difference.

Outstanding, caring staff who truly change lives for the better. The small program size means the girls all really work together as a team to help each other. I came to Kolob when I was 7 months away from being 18 years old, I was failing high school, unmotivated, and at odds with my family and myself. Kolob Canyon RTC allowed me to recognize my worth, what I can do, and have the tools to keep on keepin' on. I have since then graduated, sold cars (top salesmen every month on the job), gotten A's my first semester of college, and lived well with the people that mean most to me, my lovely family.
It is never easy to admit that you need more help with your child and their needs than what you can offer, just ask my mom. But I do know that this program and the staff will change your child's life and your family dynamic.
As a student a lot is asked of you unlike a lot of treatment places, but that makes it known that you are capable of a lot. And now I am onto things like managing a store and being a full time student at age 19. 2 years ago I didn't even want to live.
I am so grateful for Maren (my therapist at Kolob) and Amanda who could crack a joke harder than anyone. Everyone here is wonderful. Just so blessed.

My personal experience: I was 16 when I went and I have to admit my behavior was definitely different when I got out. It taught me discipline and respect for myself and others. I learned to make decisions starting from personal responsibility to educational opportunities. I definitely recommend this place.
I fought back the first few weeks and maybe even months but it’s like a wild horse who had trauma, they are eventually going to learn and it’s going to take time.
I recommend! I would go back for the discipline and scheduled order they have.
Thank You Falcon Ridge and its staff!

I went to Falcon as I was struggling with addiction and depression. Although it was tough some moments (as life is) being there was such a healing experience. The staff was so genuine and I made friends I still keep in contact with to this day. I graduated the program and received my diploma with the help of the teachers there. So thankful my parents sent me to Falcon.

I’m gonna start by saying this place has been horrible I was told by the rep up front her case manager was no longer gonna be with southwest as of Jan 1st. So that was already a red flag.. my next 2 visits weren’t the best either my daughter was scheduled for an EKG and gene test nobody called me the day of the appt to tell me the MA went home sick ( witch I get) so I show up and they tell me having me drive all the way over there so then they schedule me for us to come the following day lucky I called that same day and confirmed the appt was told the MA was still out till this day Jan 11 I haven’t received not one phone call from the MA to schedule my daughter EKG and genes test mind you I’m suppose to meet her psychiatrist tomorrow or the 13 and guess what I have to cancel cause somebody and a lot of miss communication wasn’t done!!

My experience with this particular facility has been nothing but a positive situation for me. The staff, all the way from the Director down to the office girls have been almost like a family to me. The compassion that I have been shown means so much to me & out of all the programs I have encountered, this one is by far the BEST. My councilor has also been a positive force in my life & really gone to bat for me. But most of all, although everyone remains very professional, they are all very caring & treat me with respect. I'm very grateful for this place & I just would like to say "THANK YOU". Sincerely, Jeff Butterfield

Red Hawk Behavioral Health provides residential behavioral health and substance use treatment in Littlefield, Arizona. This girls only program serves adolescents ages 12 to 17 who | Treatments | The only program that has been successful for our family is Red Hawk Academy (RHA). She has been in three different programs, two of which she was expelled due to her defiance and conduct.
RHA offers a safe and caring environment. The staff listen to us and guide us to making the best decisions for our family and our daughter. RHA offers encouragement and support to our daughter. It is hard to think about where my daughter would be if we did not seek help for her last year.
Words of wisdom, when you call a program or visit a program, pay attention to your gut instinct. Ask for the telephone numbers of parents who have had a daughter in the program. Not all therapeutic boarding schools are bad and abusive. Talk to the head of the school/program and make sure you feel heard and understood by that person. The first time I called Valerie at RHA, I had a really good feeling. She had a positive attitude and answered each and every question I asked. She was not evasive and she was forthright with her responses.
I am truly indebted to RHA...the school has saved my daughter!

I wish to write a review that speaks to parents, grandparents, guardians, any loving individual that is trying to "give a better life or save a life ". I just picked my daughter up from graduating Red Hawk Academy for Girls. Personally, I feel we saved her life. She chose life. At what point she decided on life I do not know. My daughter ended her freshman year in high school with 42 missing assignments and a suspension. Prior to this, she was on the honor role. The decline was drastic. She had given up. She had substance abuse issues, self-harm, outbursts, suicidal behavior, you name it. Our home was not safe, she was not safe. A formal psych eval was performed, multiple therapists, but every 3 days, something big was documented. We could not get through 3 days in our home without some big catastrophe! I began looking at Inpatient RTC programs. Something most parents only threaten, but never follow through. I applied to the first place and was DENIED entry. I was devastated! Because my daughter's history of suicidal behavior they would not take her. So now what!?! They referred me to another program. That place didn't respond to my application. I was then approved to send her to Wilderness. 10 weeks for a sweet price. But only 10 weeks? I was very very tempted but not willing to chance that short term risk. I called a hotline... Told them my story.. Same story I had told 3 other times. They directed me to Val at Red Hawk Academy. I didn't jump at Red Hawk Academy right Away. I was a mother still frightened and in denial by the devastating reality of our situation. I waited longer for even more events to happen at home. I finally made "THE" call to Val for help. I then committed to do the hardest thing I ever did in my life. I had them send their transport team to my home in secret, pick up my daughter and escort her to Red Hawk Academy for what would be just shy of the next year of her life. Guess what that program did for my girl? They saved her life!!! She is thriving. She has learned self-love, self-care, how to be a mentor, a sister. She found that she loves to help other people and hopes to go to college. I mean she WANTS to go to school!!! She genuinely puts the needs of others before herself. I'm not going to just thank one or two people at Red Hawk. Every single person there helped my daughter! They have created a family there that helped my daughter thrive. In my girls own words she said "You forced me to come here and now I'm being forced to leave." As a family we have learned to communicate. I will thank Val for that. My daughter learned to work hard doing hard labor that is almost unheard of in this day in age, Sonny thank you for that. Mel, thank you for the horse therapy!!!! Anita, thank you for making sure she was taken to all her med appointments and going through all the mail. To all the girls, thank you for being her sisters! The first time I visited her, it was apparently clear she felt more at home with you than me. That is a hard pill to swallow for a mom. To all staff thank you! You loved my daughter every second I could not and even when hard and disciplined that was representing what I could not give. It shows in her now. To all prospective parents, you must have trust and faith. Obviously, whatever you're doing is not working. I believe in my heart that I saved my daughter's life. At the very least, I and my husband presented her a chance at a better life. The rest is up to her. Red Hawk Academy exists!!!! Utilize them. They help provide the tools. It's up to your child if they want to succeed or not. Luckily for me, my daughter is choosing life!!! Thank you, Red Hawk!!!!

I didn't wish death upon myself anymore, i didn't want to hurt other people who did me wrong, I just wanted to start over and be successful in life (and I am). I will never forget the miracle that Wingate helped facilitate. The people who are posting bad reviews did not go to Wingate, they went somewhere else that probably did abuse them. I can assure you Wingate would never do that. Thank you to everyone who helped me back then!

You have to be willing to take some time and look at places that offer what you need. Our son was so full of anger because of a loss that he needed help through it all. We are not professionals so we made sure he had what he needed here. He’s home now and doing so much better. It was the right decision for us.
